Salazar wasn't paying attention to where he was going. He was so deep in thought that he didn't even realize that he was surrounded.

He was in a clearing , walking that unbearably slow walk of his when he noticed slight movement in the surrounding trees.

Looking up , he activated [ All seeing eye] and immediately spotted several Arthropods- scorpions, crabs , millipedes and so on , staring at him through the foliage.

Their gazes contained as much curiosity as their animosity. For the first time, he wondered if his judgment had been off. Had he made a mistake.

Well at the very least he now knew that he'd entered the Three eyed centipede territory.

These arthropods were unlike anything he'd ever seen. They were gigantic , all of them towering over even him. If they were to fight , he'd lose miserably.

He prepared to activate his one of his only racial skills, looking at its details just for comfort.

Racial skill - Reformation : as a mudman, this skill allows the host to regenerate hp by absorbing the earth around you into your body.

Requires 2 mp to activate and 1 mp to maintain every 10 seconds.

If worst comes to worst , he'd just play dead and hope they'd leave. It least if they attacked him, as long as the blow didn't instantly end his life, he still had a chance.

But they just kept staring at him. He heard occasionally clicks and chittering as though they were communicating. Irritated , he activated universal translator.

Universal translator- allows the host to interpret all manner of speaking.

He nodded silently as their words became known to him. They were discussing if they should strike him down here , or bring him up to their master. Thinking of their master , he shivered excitedly.

Yes you stupid animals. Bring me to you master. C'mon.

After several more debates, one of them , a giant crab , pushed for the motion to kill him, and his heart sank. He wanted to communicate , to tell them otherwise , but apparently the body of a mudman didn't come with communication. He was also too slow to run.

His mind races as they all slowly agreed with what that crab said. Using [ All seeing eye ] again , scanned their bodies.

Predatory Crab.

Malevolent scorpion....

Who would've thought that all these monsters were so strong. There was only one among their group of 5 that he could just barely eat. The Predatory crab , the very one who had suggested that they kill him.

At least now he knew that it wasn't intentionally trying to harm him. It was just in his nature to eat any living thing that was weaker than it. Even if it was just a lowly mudman.

If that was the case , then he'd have to scare them.

He couldn't beat any of them , but if he 'ate ' the crab , maybe , just maybe , the rest would grow scared and run away.

The crab led the charge. It scuttled out of the foliage, raising its claw up to end his life. Salazar didn't know if it was because of its bloodlust , or if it was just too impatient to eat him, for it to rush at him. But it mattered not.

Joy filled him. If the other monsters had led the charge , he was screwed. But once again, fate felt him a helping hand.

Just as the crab was swinging its claw back down, Salazar smiled inwardly and activated [Assimilation]. His body instantly broke down, losing its slightly humanoid shape , becoming just like sludge.

Sludge that could eat you. Like quick sand, anything that was caught in it would be swallowed , broken down , and turned into energy for his own evolution.

The sludge he had become attached itself to the crabs claw, sticking to it like glue. The skill immediately started gnawing on its exoskeleton , swallowing it up like it was nothing.

The crab shrieked. Salazar extended his reach, pushing himself to encapsulate the entire crustacean. He slithered along its claw , trying to reach its back. The Predatory crab tried to tear him off, but only got mud sludge on its pincers.

Following that , the crab struggled painfully. Its companions watching on , probably from disbelief , but Salazar had a suspicion it was something else that kept them from helping heir companion.

His [All seeing eye ] wasn't lying when it said that he could just barely eat this monster. It was a titanic struggle. If not for the fact that he was small and smart about the way he ate the crab, he would have been killed.

As he ate, his body gradually increased in size until he was able to firmly wrap the crustacean up, but the effort kept draining his stamina. Once his stamina reached zero, it was game over.

Finally, despite its struggle and unwillingness, it was fully absorbed into his body, drowning within its murky depths.

'That was the worst experience ever,' Salazar thought as he reformed yet he was smiling inwardly.

Over the past week , he'd eaten over 10 rabbits , and had only reached level 2 and gained 20 evolution points. Just one crab had allowed him to level up twice and also gain twice the amount of evolution points.

In addition to that , almost all his stats had increased from eating this thing.

He was ecstatic. Glancing at the other monsters , he used his [All seeing eye ] skill again to see if his recent level up would allow him to eat another one. But he was disappointed.

Although he had leveled up two times , the other monsters were still much stronger than him, enough to be able to break out of the skill.

He fidgeted nervously. Despite everything, was he still going to die.

The spider chuckled as it stared at were the crab used to be gleefully. " That asshole deserved it , don't you think. Always acting high and mighty just because it's father is favored by the Centipede queen. To think that it was killed by a weak mudman, oh the shame , " glanced at him wearily.

" But still. This thing is dangerous, " she eyed him nervously even as he stared back at them. " Do you think that if we try to attack , it'll do the same thing to us. I've never heard of a mudman being able to do what this one can. And I'm surprised that the one armed giant would send someone like this just for scouting. Wouldn't it be better to keep it at its side and raise it to be a valuable asset. "

When he heard their conversation , he almost cussed. If he had a mouth , oh , cusses would fill the air like glorious melodies.

He'd seriously miscalculated. The information he'd discerned was false. He wasn't aware that mudmen were also under the control of the one armed giant. It was no wonder that these monsters were acting so violently to him.

Sh*t.

How could he have been so wrong. Damn it. It's because he didn't have an effective means of gathering information in this world.

He calmed down. Maybe he could still turn this to his advantage.

The Malevolent scorpion spoke. " I don't think it's within our rights to decide this matter. We'll have to bring it up with the queen, " he glanced at the Spider " Nasuae , bind him up. From a distance. We can't afford to take any risks. "

The spider nodded as she stepped forward. Keeping a distance of about three meters , she spat out a spider web which completely encased Salazar. 'It must be a racial skill ' he thought as the now named Nasuae began to pull him a along.
