Chapter 3 – Adventurer with Consience
“Ahaha... We are on the same class again.”
“How’s your holiday?”
“Dude, your parents must ‘enjoy’ reading your terrific report.”
“Argh! Why should I be here? The neighbour class has better girls.”
“Hey! Who said that this class has ugly girls? Say that again!”
The whole class was full with noisy chattering.
Walls can not surpress the atmosphere of excitement from inside the classroom.
All of the students talked with each other.
Some were laughing, bragging about their holiday.
Some were sad, weeping about their parents anger for bad report.
Should I enter now? – Kevin said inside his heart.
He was standing at the closed door, reluctant to enter the classroom.
Kevin braced his heart and breathed deeply.
He gripped the door handle.
Then he slowly opened the door.
Kevin dragged his legs and entered the classroom.
The whole class were looking at him.
The noise were gone as if it was swallowed by the void.
Ughh... I am stupid. It will be better if I wait and enter with the instructor.
Kevin sighed.
He casted down his eyes and walked to the back of classroom.
Then he sat on an empty seat which is the furthest from the blackboard.
Whispering could be heard on the air.
“Hey, do you know what happened this morning?”
“What do you mean?”
“You don’t know? Kevin hit a girl.”
“Hmm. His body is small, but he has big guts. So they are dating now?”
“Not that ‘hit’! I heard he wrestled with the girl at the school yard.”
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
“Woah! He dared to wrestle in the front of people? Is the girl pregnant?”
“What the crap is inside your perverted head! The girl was crying!”
“I saw the scene too! He chased the girl and then molested her.”
“Yeah. The girl is so small. I never see her before. Maybe she is a new student.”
“He’s so mean!”
The whispering slowly turned into a public discussion.
The atmosphere was just like before Kevin entered the class.
Everybody were chatting leisurely.
Not only that, some kids were even exagerating the news.
They forgot that the main culprit was still behind them.
Kevin closed his ears and lowered his head.
He hate hearing any rumour about him.
Kevin tried to hold his anger.
He didn’t want to snap and cause more trouble.
But the kids didn’t stop talking.
Kevin wanted to yell and told his classmates to stop.
Unable to hold his anger anymore, Kevin stood.
He gritted his teeth.
Kevin prepared his breath to shout.
Luckily, before he could make any sound, an instructor entered the classroom.
Once the instructor closed the door, he shout.
“Students, close your mouths or stand outside for eternity.”
The whole classroom became quiet again.
Then the instructor scanned the classroom.
He focused his sight on Kevin.
“Mr. Vanfent, it seems that you have prepared yourself to stand outside. You are too smart to attend the lecture, aren’t you?”
Kevin didn’t answer and sit down immediately.
“Hmph... I’ll let you go since this is the first time we meet after a long holiday.”
The instructor walked to instructor seat and sit.
Sunlight from window touched his blonde hair.
The instructor snorted and closed the curtain roughly.
After that he read a list on top of the table.
“Let’s start with confirming the attendance. Allan Horak...”
“Here”
“Bernhard Isaksen”
“Here”
...
“And the last. Tommy Mourits”
“Here”
“Good. Then I’ll continue with the introduction. I’m sure that some of you have known my name. Who wants to introduce me for a special remark?”
No one were brave enough to raise his/her hand.
“So there are no volunteers? What a shame.”
The instructor raised from his seat and approached the blackboard.
He wrote something.
HENDRICK MAURENN
EMPIRE ETHICS
“Ok, that’s the end of the introduction section. I would like to start the lessons immediately, but there’s a special rule about introduction week so I would refrain to do so.”
Mr. Hendrick put his right hand inside his vest.
He took out a piece of paper.
“This is your lessons schedules for this year. You are free to copy it if you think it is important.”
Mr. Hendrick gave it to a student in the front seat.
The student given the paper scanned it before he passed it to his friend.
“Before I leave, I’ll give you two news, a good one and a bad one.”
The whole class listened attentively.
“The bad one is, during the first year introduction week, there will be no lessons for you”
The students smirked.
Some were even planning how to spend the free week.
They glanced at each other expressing their happiness.
“The good one is, your lessons will be replaced as tasks. You need to submit a summary ‘why I need to learn this subject’ for each subjects on your yearly schedule.”
Hearing the last news, the smirking faces were dissappeared.
The students wanted to protest, but they were afraid to do so.
Mr. Hendrick ignored the class response and continued speaking
“The due date is next week. Don’t miss any single subject.”
After delivered the news, Mr Hendrick ended his speak.
“Then, that’s all. Class dismissed.”
The stern instructor walked approaching the door.
As his left hand reached the door handle, he remembered something.
Mr. Hendrick turned his body toward the students direction again.
“I am pretty sure that you have known the school’s rule about violence. The headmaster has forbidden any activity that possibly inflict any kind of unnecesary damage.”
Mr. Hendrick stopped speaking and observed the students.
He watched the students reaction one by one.
“I know that we are an adventurer school that mainly teaches about fighting and destroying, but we must remember that we are still humans with reasons.”
“The school doesn’t want you to be an unruly person who trample the other.”
“Screamgate wants you not only become a strong adventurer, but also a human with consience.”
“Think twice, before you speak or do something. Please consider your action a little bit more, since you are already in the third grade.”
Mr. Hendrick ended his speech and exited the classroom.
