Chapter 2 – I am Your Senior

“Ugh. I can’t find my name. There’s too much letter here.”

“Search harder! You are in the first year right? Your name should be on this section.”

“Really? I’ll try to search again.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you.”

Right now, Anna and Kevin were searching their name on the front school board.

Occasionally, Anna would look back to see if her mother was still waiting outside the school ground.

Then Anna would see her mother waved her hand happily at her.

“I found my name! It’s on class 1-2 list!”

“Oh good! Now it’s my turn to search my name.”

“You haven’t found your name already?”

“No, I was helping you. My name is on the other section.”

Kevin walked away from the first year section.

Then he stopped at the other section of the board.

Anna who was curious followed him.

When she read the board, she was surprised.

“Eh... This is not the first year section!”

“Then why are you searching here?”

“Well, because my name should be here, I think?”

But she didn’t ask anymore and helped him searching his name on the list.

“Eh... this kid has the same name as you.”

“Uh? Which kid?”

“This one. He is at the third year. But it can’t be you, right?”

“Where is it?”

“Here. On the bottom.”

Anna pointed her finger at a name on the list.

She found Kevin’s full name on the list, but she didn’t think that it was him.

The name was on the third year support class list.

“Right? This kid has the same name as you.”

“Huh? But you see? There’s another kid with the same name as you in this school! I want to meet him.”

Kevin was a little confused at how’s the conversation going.

Anna observed Kevin’s unkempt appearance.

No matter how long she was observing him, he was just a twelve year old kid like her.

Kevin felt uneasy being stared by a pair of brown eyes.

Then he remembered something.

“Uhm... Oh yeah. I never told you. I am your senior in this school.”

“You... you are what?”

“I am your senior in this school.”

“Don’t repeat the same thing! What I mean is why are you not in the same grade as me?”

“Because I am your senior?”

“Arrgh!!! I’ll tell my mother!”

Anna turned arround.

Then she ran towards her mother outside the school area.

Kevin who was surprised by Anna’s action freezed.

After Kevin watched idly for a few seconds, he started to chase Anna.

Anna ran with all of her might.

Her eyes started watering.

In the middle of her run, suddenly a gust of wind blow Anna from the opposite direction.

Unable to resist it with her little body, she fall backward.

Kevin who was chasing up close with Anna catched her before she fell down.

Then he held her so she couldn’t run away.

“Wait, wait. Please don’t tell your mother.”

“Uwaaa... Release me!”

“If I release you, you won’t tell your mother?”

“I’ll tell mom that you are not my friend!”

“But, but I’m your friend!”

“If you are my senior then you are not my friend!”

“Why?”

“Because we are not in the same grade!”

“We could be friends too even if our grade is different, you know?”

“No!!! I heard all upperclassmen is a meanie!”

“I am not a meanie! Well I know someone who is a meanie. But I won’t bully you.”

“You are bullying me...”

“Huh?”

“You are a bully!!! Uwaaahhhh.... Mooommm!!!”

Anna became more hysteric.

Kevin tightened his hold so Anna can’t escape.

Kevin didn’t know what to say.

He is a kid too.

Hearing Anna who cried loudly made him want to cry with her.

The other children on the area watched the scene dumbfoundedly.

Luckily Anna’s mother was so far away so she could not see the whole scene clearly.

She only saw that there’s a kid sitting in the middle of field.

Of course she never thought that the kid was her daughter crying.

A female instructor who was nearby approached.

She didn’t pay attention before.

But after she saw a girl crying, she decided to see what was happening.

Kevin saw the black haired instructor walking toward them.

He shook Anna in a panic.

“H... hey... S... stop crying. The instructor is coming.”

“Waaa... Waaa.... WAAA... MOOMMMYYY!!!”

“What’s going on? Why a girl is crying here?”

“M... Miss Adelia, I.. I.. d... don’t know why she is crying.”

“Ah... You again, Kevin Vanfent. Do you hit the girl?”

“I don’t hit her. She is suddenly crying by herself. I don’t know.”

“Don’t lie. Let me see her.”

 Ms. Adelia examined Anna carefully to see if she was hurt.

After examining for a while, she was glad because she didn’t find any injuries.

Ms. Adelia stroked Anna’s brown hair and tried to calm her.

“Hey... Are you okay?”

“Sob... sob... sniff...”

“Did he hit you?”

“Waa... I want my mom...”

Hearing Anna’s answer, Ms. Adelia pierced Kevin with her sharp blue eyes.

Ms. Adelia refrained herself to not knock Kevin’s head.

She couldn’t believe Kevin as a senior dared to hit a new student.

Moreover, the new student is a little girl.

As an instructor in the school, She tried to persuade Anna from going home.

Ms. Adelia chose her words carefully and spoke with smile.

“You are a new student, right? Let’s go inside the school. Don’t worry, everything’s gonna be okay.”

“I don’t want to go to school.”

“Why? School is fun. You will find a lot of friends here.”

“I don’t want friends. I only want my mom.”

“Um... Hey... Do you come to school alone?”

“No, I come here with my mom. That’s my mom.”

Anna pointed at her mom outside the school gate.

Ms. Adelia turned her head to watch outside.

She saw a woman waving her hand from afar.

“Is that your mother who is waving her hand?”

Anna nodded to answer.

“Your mom looked happy. She wants you to go to school.”

“No... I want to go home. I’m scared.”

“Why are you scared?”

“I don’t want to be alone... I want my mom.”

“Hey, you won’t be alone. There’s a lot of kids who will study with you. They will become your friends.”

“Huu... huu... sob...”

“Did your mom say anything to you before you entered the school?”

“My mom told me to study then get a nice job in the capital.”

“Then let’s study together. I promise you will get fun here.”

Anna kept crying.

Ms. Adelia couldn’t calm her.

Kevin stood on the side watching in silence.

Suddenly a loud sound of bell broke through the scene.

It’s the sign that lessons would begin soon.

Kevin turned around unwillingly and ran to enter the school building with uneasy heart.
