Chapter 10: The Master-Servant Contract 2

"Tia, what's wrong?" Kenley asked, somewhat surprised.

"It's nothing, just some sand got in my eyes," Tia quickly realized her slip-up and discreetly wiped away her tears, not wanting Kenley to see.

Would a vampire really be bothered by the wind and sand? Although Kenley secretly mocked her, he didn't expose her.

After all, this isn't like the game anymore. Though she's a vampire, she's also a living being standing right before me. I can't just treat her as if she's a character from a game. Kenley couldn't do that.

Kenley didn't press further but instead wrote his name on the contract:"I, Kenley, a citizen of the Kane Empire, will hereby sign this contract with Tia. As a follower of the Mother Goddess, I will abide by the rules of the contract, strictly adhere to the counsel of Sanfister, and keep in mind the admonitions of Damianel. Together with my servant who fights by my side, we shall walk the path towards the creation of miracles! Blessed be the Mother Goddess!"

After speaking these words, Kenley breathed a sigh of relief. He was quite familiar with this, having done it countless times before.

In the game, the developers had opened a servant system, allowing players to freely sign contracts with servants they hunted from all over the world. One of the hardest aspects was that they never simplified the steps, even after many player complaints. They simply stuck to their ways.

Many players praised this approach, feeling that it made the game more immersive. That's why Kenley was so adept at it.

However, what Kenley was doing seemed completely different to Tia.

She stared at him in shock because what Kenley had just written and recited wasn't a standard master-servant contract, but an ancient Saint Servant Contract! This contract had been specifically created by the early Light Church to spread the worship of the Sun God. The powers and rules of this contract were far more advanced, and only bishops and priests of the Church could use it. No one else, and certainly no one outside the Church, could use such a contract.

Who is he really? Just an ordinary peasant from the Empire? No, it can't be that simple. If he were a peasant, how could he have such skill? He killed two guards in a single, swift strike, then effortlessly dodged a poisoned dagger aimed at him. Does he have some hidden identity that's beyond ordinary imagination?

The Saint Servant Contract differed from the Master-Servant Contract in several ways. While it had all the features of a Master-Servant Contract, it also had some unique advantages.

First, a bond is established between the master and the servant, allowing either to sense the other's location at all times. Second, the master can summon the servant at any time through the Mother Goddess, instantly teleporting them before the master. Third, there is a subspace where the servant can reside, and the master can enter this space at any time. Finally, as long as the master is alive, even if the servant is gravely injured, they will be teleported back to the subspace and can safely be revived.

As a former princess of the kingdom, Tia had read many ancient documents in the towering library of spires. She knew many secrets that most nobles were unaware of.

This is an extremely advanced contract spell. How could a mere peasant possibly learn it? She is now full of curiosity about this mysterious master who appeared so suddenly. Who is he? Why is he here? Why did he choose to sign a contract with me? The orcs he let go earlier were all strong and majestic, yet he chose me over them?

Could it be...?

As she thought about this, Tia's face turned red, and she dared not think any further, fearing that the more she imagined, the more confused her thoughts would become.

But Kenley had no idea of Tia's wild speculations. Tia had no way of knowing that these four abilities were very common in the game. Every player had them, and if Kenley couldn't use them, it would be better to take a piece of tofu and smash it over his head.

"Well? Have you made up your mind?" Kenley's voice interrupted Tia's mental turmoil, pulling her back to reality.

Tia's face flushed slightly as she took a small step forward and then knelt down. She used her sharp nails to slit her thumb. As dark red blood flowed, her brows furrowed.

As Tia wrote her name on the parchment contract, the sky suddenly showered down a golden light that bathed her in its glow.

Although she was of the undead race, when she bathed in this light, she didn't show any signs of rejection.

"Is... is this the grace of the Mother Goddess?!" Tia's eyes filled with disbelief. The Mother Goddess was so kind, no matter the race, everyone was her child, a part of her.

However, to Kenley, this scene was quite different. He saw Tia's health (HP) and magic points (MP) rapidly recovering. When the holy light faded, Tia was completely restored.

This was just like the game: as soon as a servant was accepted, they would immediately recover to full health and be added to the servant list.

He quickly opened his game interface, navigated to the "Servants" section, and soon saw a character card appear:

【Exiled Princess · Vampire · Kenley's Holy Servant · Tia】

As expected, this was no different from the game. Now, Tia had officially become his servant.

"Honorable Master, from now on, Tia will be your most loyal servant," she said, once again lifting her tattered clothes. Though her clothes were ragged, her graceful and refined movements were still pleasing to Kenley.

Kenley immediately rummaged through his backpack, pulled out a rough cloth dress he had previously acquired from a slave merchant, and handed it to Tia.

With an apologetic smile, Kenley said, "Sorry, Tia. The conditions are limited right now, so you'll have to make do. Once we get to the Maren Imperial City, I'll buy you a new set of clothes."

Tia seemed somewhat surprised by Kenley's kindness. She took the rough cloth dress, feeling somewhat uneasy, and said, "There is no such thing as lowly clothing, only eyes clouded by dust. I will deeply cherish anything you, my Master, bestow upon me. You need not waste valuable resources on your servant."

As expected of a princess, her words were eloquent and pleasant to hear. Kenley thought to himself, growing fonder of this young woman. Who wouldn't like someone so elegant and beautiful? His resolve to buy her new clothes grew stronger.

Kenley nodded. "Indeed, the quality of clothing doesn't reflect rank or worth. But if there are good things in this world and you don't use them, isn't that a waste? Money doesn't come with you when you're born, nor does it go with you when you die. What good is it to keep it? So don't refuse; I'll get you a beautiful outfit later."

Upon hearing Kenley's words, Tia's eyes brightened. This was the first time she had heard such a novel perspective.
