Chapter 1: A Common Farmer

Chapter 1: A Common Farmer

"Am I not able to go back?"

Kenley raised his hands, and immediately, his character attributes appeared in the game's interface.

[Player: Kenley]

[Level: 1]

[Class: Farmer]

[HP: 10]

[Charm: 50+20 (Outstanding)]

[Note: A farmer living in the Cain Empire, with limitless potential.]

So I'm really a farmer?! But wasn't I supposed to be the Sword Saint Wilk? Wasn't I killed by the curse of the Dark Lord Pelon? According to logic, I should have been brought back to the character selection screen! System? Where's the system?

Kenley, a professional gamer, had won the PvP solo championship at the Ode Continent World Championship. His main account was a max-level warrior at level 100, and he had leveled every other class to 99.

But now, he had reincarnated into the game world. As a professional player, he had tried every possible way to contact the game's GM and tried to log out, but it had all been in vain. Now, he was certain—he had crossed over into this magical world.

After organizing his thoughts, he decided to first bring up the class interface and investigate. If he had really reincarnated into the game world, this class had to be a mistake.

Sure enough!

As soon as the class interface appeared, Kenley immediately noticed the problem.

Because the farmer class was listed under life professions, while his primary class was empty.

So it turned out, aside from the farmer class, there were no other classes available, and the system had determined that this was his only class, which is why it was displayed as his primary class.

Kenley breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought he had really become a farmer. Since the primary class slot was still empty, it meant he still had a chance to acquire a class through"apprenticeship."

Focusing his attention again, Kenley's heart began to burn with excitement. He realized this was his second chance at life, and just like it was described, he truly had limitless potential. He immediately opened the map to see where he was.

"Lopa Town?" Looking up, Kenley saw a slave caravan slowly heading southwest. If he remembered correctly, the southwest led to the imperial capital of the Cain Empire: Marlen Imperial City.

"Appraisal!" He activated the appraisal skill (a skill obtained from the prologue chapter: basic appraisals can be done remotely, while touching characters gives detailed appraisals). Kenley's eyes sparkled, and soon all the members of the caravan revealed their class, level, and race.

Merchants: 5 people, race: human, all level 10.

Guards: 16 people, race: human, all level 12.

In addition, there were several slaves locked in the cages, most of them orcs, but one girl caught his special attention.

[Princess of the Fallen Kingdom· Vampire· Tia], Level 3, Undead.]

Wait a minute, this name seems familiar.

Kenley's eyes lit up. He remembered seeing a guide about the Princess of the Fallen Kingdom in the game. There was a hidden side quest where you could acquire a princess from a slave merchant who had been turned into a vampire by a vampire count.

Thinking of this, Kenley couldn't help but carefully observe the princess.

Her melancholic eyes carried a faint sadness. Dressed in tattered clothes, she no longer held the sharpness of royalty. Her silver hair shimmered like a starry river, and her blood-red eyes were mesmerizing. Holes in her clothes revealed her fair skin and body, with her long, pale legs exposed to the air, leaving little to the imagination. She was so beautiful...

Kenley remembered that this princess had exceptional talent. With her golden bloodline, she had reached level 99 (in the game, servants had talent grades, and only those with high growth quality could undergo the silver rebirth, unlocking the 61-99 level cap). She had even completed the task for the silver rebirth.

The guild members had been thrilled when they found out. They even formed a team to find the slave merchant, hoping to score such a rare bargain, but in the end, they found nothing.

Kenley's heart burned with desire. This was a high-growth exclusive servant. Even in the game, most servants would stop progressing after reaching the bronze tier, and the ratio was about ten to one. So high-quality servants were rare. If he could make her his servant, it would greatly benefit him in future battles.

Inventory!

Kenley opened his inventory. He clearly remembered that his main account had around 5,000 to 6,000 gold coins. Buying a level 3 vampire slave shouldn't be a problem.

But…

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

As the inventory opened, the expected scene didn't happen!

Not a single coin… Where's the money? Did the system swallow it all? Could it be because of the reincarnation?

Looking at the slave caravan that was about to disappear, Kenley furrowed his brows. Just then, his eyes lit up—he had an idea!

He could steal the key from one of the guards and unlock the cage to free Tia! These guards had low levels, and first-tier warriors didn't have skills like detection or scouting. As long as he hid well, he wouldn't be discovered.

Kenley immediately stood up and hurried after the slave caravan. Fortunately, they were in a forest, with trees lining both sides of the path. As long as he was careful, he should be able to remain unseen by using the trees for cover.

"Got it!" Kenley's eyes lit up as he saw the warrior at the back of the cage carrying a jingling keychain!

Kenley cautiously approached step by step, while the guard didn't notice him at all, confirming that, just like in the game, a Level 1 warrior had very little perceptiveness.

"Step lightly... act quickly..." Kenley reminded himself, his hand slowly reaching for the keys on the guard's belt, just one step away from grabbing them.

But just then, a raven flew overhead."Caw—caw—" The sound of the raven immediately drew the guard's attention, but fortunately, he didn't turn around. Kenley's heart raced.

"Coalball! I call you brother! Don't ruin this for me!" Kenley glared at the raven, silently praying.

Of course, the Mother God had other plans for him. Just at that moment, the guard, who had been tired from the journey, yawned and opened his mouth wide. The raven seized the opportunity and flew right over his head!

Next, Kenley saw a chunk of raven droppings, the size of a fist, fall straight into the guard's open mouth! Perfect shot! Like a three-pointer!

"Ha—ugh?! Mmm!!! Ugh—ugh—!" The guard immediately went into a rage, the sensation of raven droppings in his mouth making him want to vomit his last meal!

Kenley's face darkened... this little beast actually dared to do that! And it was such a huge pile! It really looked like a coalball, but I don't think its... well, never mind!

At that moment, the guard turned around, intending to spit out the mess in his mouth, only to spot Kenley, who was looking like a thief.

"Ah—ugh—you—you!" The guard's eyes widened in panic.

Without thinking, Kenley turned and bolted! He'd only glared at the raven, but the bird had gone ahead and done this to someone else! Unbelievable!

"Stop!" Finally, the guard had spit most of it out. Fearing that Kenley would escape, he lunged forward and knocked him down!

Kenley sighed in resignation. Having a profession would be great right now! Unfortunately, he didn't have any skills, so he was in this mess.

"Sneaking around, ugh—are you a thief?" The guard grabbed him, his breath still smelling of the raven droppings. With his superior strength, Kenley, a mere Level 1 farmer, had no way to fight back against a Level 12 warrior.

"Big brother! Big brother! Let me go, I'm not here to steal anything!"

"Pah! I saw you sneaking behind the caravan, pah—don't tell me you're not a thief!" The guard stared at Kenley with suspicion.

"Bro, at least spit out the crap before you talk." Kenley frowned, though he didn't dare say this out loud.

The commotion immediately drew the attention of the caravan's captain.

"John, what's all the noise? What's going on?" The captain frowned, already exhausted from the journey. He was thinking about getting to Marlen Imperial City and relaxing. He didn't want any trouble here.

"This kid tried to steal something. Pah—"

"Then cut off his hands. Once we're done, we can leave." The captain waved his hand impatiently and glanced at Kenley, dismissing him as a simple farmer, not worth his time.

Without a second word, he ordered to cut off Kenley's hands. No evidence? This was too overbearing...

But Kenley was just a farmer now. He had no way to handle these ruthless slave merchant guards.

"Ah, hahaha, unlucky for you! Heh! Ugh—damn, that shit tastes horrible!" The guard cursed while drawing his sword, seemingly about to strike.

What should I do? If this keeps up, I'm definitely losing my hands! Wait, I have an idea! Kenley suddenly had a brainwave.

"Guard captain, please have mercy! I came here to offer you valuable information! I mean no harm!"

Sure enough, as soon as those words left his mouth, the captain, who had been about to walk away, stopped in his tracks.

After all, in the world of Ode, what was the most valuable thing? Besides gold and treasures, it was information!

"Huh? Interesting, but do you think I'll believe a thief like you?" The captain paused, eyeing Kenley suspiciously.

Kenley saw an opportunity and seized it.

"Respectful captain, please! Trust me! I'm just a farmer, I only want to discuss something with you..."

"Then why were you sneaking around?!" John, who stood nearby, clearly didn't buy it.

"Exactly, you can't explain this, right? John, cut him!" The captain waved dismissively and started walking away again.

"I was actually trying to catch that raven for you! That beast has been shitting on people's heads repeatedly, and if I made too much noise, it would have flown away! Mother God above! John, don't you think I'm telling the truth? I saw that crap go straight into your mouth!"

The moment Kenley spoke, the crowd erupted in laughter."No way, John? You actually ate shit?"

"This luck... it's probably on par with my uncle who became a father seven times in a row! Hahaha!"

"Enough talking! I know your uncle too! First he became a father, then a brother, then a younger brother, and now he's an uncle again! John's just lucky to have eaten that shit!"

John's face turned bright red, embarrassed not just for eating the shit, but for having everyone hear about it. Just then, from the forest, the sound of"caw—caw—" echoed again, and John glared at the raven with vengeance, swearing to get back at it.

Hearing the raven caw, Captain Stephen's expression softened slightly. But instead of teasing John, he asked,"John, do you think he's telling the truth?"

John's face turned red with embarrassment. How was he supposed to answer that?

"John, are you gonna say something or not?" The other team members started goading him.

"Quiet! Let him speak." Stephen was patient.

"He... he's telling the truth." John finally admitted, though this only made everyone burst out laughing.

Stephen nodded and then turned to Kenley."Alright, I'll believe you for now. You said you have some information for us?"

Kenley, sensing he was in the clear, immediately added,

"Yes, captain, there's an old noble tomb to the south of our town, and inside, there's a rumored relic with a lot of valuable treasures!" Kenley spoke in an enticing tone.

"Treasure?" John's eyes immediately lit up. Even though he was humiliated earlier, the word 'treasure' made him salivate.

"Where is it?" John was eager to know the location of the treasure.

Kenley secretly smirked. The man was a greedy one. Well, the greedier he was, the more opportunities Kenley would have.

But just then, Captain Stephen scoffed,"If there's treasure, why don't you go get it yourself? Could it be a trap you set with your friends?"

As expected, the captain wasn't easily fooled. Before Kenley could react, the captain drew his sword and pointed the tip at his chest.

It hadn't even pierced him yet, but just the touch of the sword dropped his health by one. Ouch, that really hurt!

Kenley's face turned a little pale, but he quickly explained,"Captain, you don't know. There are some skeletons in that area, and I'm just a farmer. I'm no match for them."

"But you guys are different! Well-equipped, imposing! You guys are the real warriors, while I'm just a farmer, looking up to you! Mother God, if I'm lying, I'll die from the curse of Dacey! My body will rot and decompose!"
