Chapter 9: Hatake Kakashi

Miyuki Uchiha blocked the attack with his blade, glancing at the kunai in Aburame Ryoma’s hand before chuckling.

“Custom-made glass kunai? Too bad—it’s useless.”

In the next instant, the shuriken hovering around Miyuki shot toward the now-exposed Aburame Ryoma.

Ryoma hurriedly used an insect substitution technique to escape, but the moment he landed, Miyuki’s next slash was already upon him—his entire body crackling with lightning, moving at an unbelievable speed.

Each consecutive strike was lethal, leaving Ryoma overwhelmed. As an insect user, close combat was never his strength. He had no choice but to repeatedly use his insect substitution to evade Miyuki’s blade, but every substitution meant sacrificing another carefully cultivated swarm to the devastating lightning.

Within minutes, Ryoma had narrowly escaped death multiple times. Just as Miyuki prepared to end him for good, his vision suddenly went black.

“You think using this trick against a Mangekyō Sharingan-wielding Uchiha is a good idea? You’re courting death.”

Inside the spiritual realm, Miyuki’s Mangekyō Sharingan flared. Hidden in the shadows, Yamanaka Kaze, who had attempted to ambush him with the Mind-Body Switch Technique, let out a muffled groan and coughed up blood before collapsing.

“Capture him alive,” Miyuki ordered smoothly, forcing Ryoma into another insect substitution while giving instructions to Uchiha Inaho and Uchiha Saito.

“Since we’ve got a better prisoner now, it’s over for you, little bug-handler.”

Miyuki smiled as his blade pierced Ryoma’s back. Lightning erupted in an instant, and within moments, all that remained on the ground was a charred corpse.

Meanwhile, Uchiha Inaho and Uchiha Saito easily captured Yamanaka Kaze, who had completely lost the ability to resist due to the backlash of his clan’s secret technique.

“Saito, take this guy back to the clan’s interrogation room—make sure he stays alive. Inaho, report to the Hokage building. Tell them that during our investigation, we encountered violent resistance from the remnants of Root, and we had no choice but to take emergency measures. The culprits have been eliminated.”

“Yes!” The two nodded before splitting up to carry out Miyuki’s orders.

As for Miyuki himself, he walked alone toward Root’s underground base.

The moment he stepped inside, the remaining Root operatives launched relentless, suicidal attacks against him. But Miyuki only needed a single strike each time to deal with them.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Like that, he cut his way through—from the base’s entrance to its core. The journey, which should have taken ten minutes, was now littered with dozens of lifeless bodies.

The moment Miyuki Uchiha stepped into Danzo’s office, the first thing he noticed was a floor covered in ashes. It seemed that all of Danzo’s secrets had been burned to nothing.

Seeing this, Miyuki chuckled softly before pulling out a sealing scroll. With a casual motion, he retrieved a stack of documents from within.

“Root's efficiency isn’t bad. I thought I’d have to clean up after them myself.”

He tossed the retrieved documents into the air and, without hesitation, unleashed a Great Fireball Jutsu, engulfing them in flames.

Once the papers had burned halfway, Miyuki leisurely formed hand seals.

Water Release: Wild Water Wave.

A thick mist spread from his body, gathering into droplets that rained down on the smoldering papers. Wisps of steam curled into the air as he carefully picked up the half-burned documents.

A long while later, Uchiha Inaho finally returned, accompanied by the ANBU operatives sent by the Third Hokage.

The leader of the group wore an ANBU mask, but his silver hair gave him away instantly—none other than the famous "Copy Ninja," Hatake Kakashi.

As Kakashi stepped into the Root base and took in the sight of corpses strewn across the ground, his brows furrowed slightly. It wasn’t out of pity, but rather because, despite their actions, these Root operatives were still Konoha shinobi. With Danzo dead, there was a chance—however slim—that they could have been reformed. But now, Miyuki had wiped them out completely.

“Kakashi-senpai, so it’s you.”

Miyuki greeted him with a smile, unsurprised that the Third Hokage hadn’t come in person. Given the looming threat of Kotoamatsukami, it was understandable that the so-called “Ninja Hero” wouldn’t want to meet him face-to-face.

Kakashi, behind his mask, remained silent. Miyuki wasn’t offended by the lack of response and instead spoke as if nothing was amiss.

“When I arrived, the remaining Root members were already destroying Danzo’s evidence. Fortunately, I made it in time and managed to salvage some of it.”

He walked up to Kakashi and lowered his voice.

“I found something… interesting. I think you’ll want to see this.”

With that, he pulled out a partially burned document and held it up for Kakashi to read.

At the top of the page were several names. Kakashi’s pupils shrank instantly.

Hatake Sakumo, Kishida Keisuke, Arima Kiya… and one last name—Higashiyama.

Though only the surname remained, Kakashi immediately filled in the missing part. Higashiyama Ryota.

These were the shinobi involved in the mission that had destroyed his father’s life.

And next to each name was a chilling notation: Eliminated.

A cold wave surged through Kakashi’s chest.

Miyuki casually put the document away and patted Kakashi on the shoulder.

“Well, since you’re here, help clean up the bodies, will you?” he sighed. “Such a shame. They were all Konoha shinobi once, but Danzo brainwashed them beyond saving. I didn’t want to kill them either.”

With that, Miyuki turned and gestured for Uchiha Inaho to follow.

“Wait.”

Kakashi’s voice suddenly stopped Miyuki just as he reached the door.

“Oh? Something wrong, Kakashi-senpai?” Miyuki turned back with his usual warm smile. “I still have to go sort through the remaining evidence and interrogate the captured Root members.”

“…No, it’s nothing.”

Behind his mask, Kakashi hesitated for a moment before suppressing the urge to demand answers.

Miyuki chuckled.

“Well then, I’ll be off. Send my regards to the Hokage.”

As he stepped out, he suddenly paused, as if remembering something. He glanced back and added with a grin,

“Oh, right—Kakashi-senpai, if you have time, drop by the clan sometime. Grandma Miori hasn’t beenfeeling well lately, and she’s been asking about you.”
