Behind the bar, the alley was a dark passage, black enough to accommodate all forms of wickedness.
The smell of blood lingered in the air for a long time. Austin knew that this place was usually where the bar's gang would "deal with" some opposing forces.
However, it also served as a good place for conversation. At least, there wouldn't be anyone to disturb them. In this alley, aside from the rats gnawing on rotten flesh, there were no other creatures.
"I need some things and some information." Austin directly stated his needs without any delay.
"Haha, I just like your straightforward character. Tell me what you want, and I will give it to you at the lowest price on the market." Nick Fury lit a cigarette.
"Eight tanks of gasoline, two spray guns and submachine guns, two thousand rounds of ammunition each, and information about other members of the Avengers."
Listening to Austin's words, Nick Fury had no reaction, but when he heard the word "Avenger", his expression instantly froze, and he stared at Austin's face, and the cigarette in his hand trembled slightly.
The atmosphere suddenly stiffened, as if the air had become thicker, and there seemed to be a slight smell of rust mixed in with it.
After a moment, Nick Fury laughed dryly, and he stretched out his finger and pointed at Austin.
"It seems that you have investigated my identity, but you are not here for me, so what is your purpose?"
"It has nothing to do with you, I will give you a generous reward."
"Haha, hahaha, cough cough. A generous reward? Hahaha, this damn world. Do you think I don't know? Everything is finished. Everything is going to hell. The whole world is going to hell."
Austin's words seemed to trigger a switch deep in Nick Fury's heart. He laughed loudly and his whole body trembled.
"That freak Charles, he manipulated all the senators with his damn ability. He understands nothing. He's just a paranoid bastard. Look at this land beneath our feet. What American dream? It's all bullshit! The Avengers failed, and we failed. No one can survive this catastrophe. Only those mutant freaks can continue to survive!"
"Sir, calm down."
"Calm down? We used a Patriot missile to kill the captain!" Nick Fury roared in a low voice. At this moment, he seemed like a wounded beast, unable to show his fangs to the enemy other than roaring.
"I said, you'd better calm down." Austin took out the pistol in his pocket.
"..."
Staring at the dark muzzle of the gun, Nick Fury stopped talking. The only sound around him was the quiet sound of Nick Fury's rough breathing, like a worn-out bellows.
After a pause, Nick Fury spoke. "I know what you want to do. I can help you. I can tell you all the information. I can also give you weapons. Anyway, this world will not get worse."
Saying that, he took out a key. "This is my safe house in the suburbs. It has everything you need."
"Where is the information about the Avengers?" Austin did not take the key, but continued to ask.
"I haven't seen Captain and Stark for a long time, until I heard about their death." Nick Fury leaned against the wall and slowly sat down "Unlike other people in the Avengers, I have the deepest relationship with Captain. He taught me how to be a warrior."
"The Howling Commandos?" Pietro interjected.
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
Nick Fury looked up at Pietro and nodded. "Yes, that's right. Captain chose me from countless people, and he changed me. We were the key to that victory. During the war, we went through various life-and-death crises together. Sometimes, we had to eat the flesh and blood of our comrades just to survive."
"You ate human flesh?"
"Yeah, Captain taught me the ways of the world, for the sake of victory."
Austin's hand on the gun tightened. It seemed that there was no need to save this world. There was no justice, no evil—just one group of lunatics after another. President X was, and so were the Avengers.
"What I want to know is, besides mutants, are there any other supernatural powers in this world, whether they are people or objects, even blood sacrifices that require tens of thousands of sacrifices?" Austin Asked what he wanted to know most.
Nick Fury, upon hearing this, burst into laughter. "Haha, you're a lunatic too! Just like that crazy woman who claimed to have killed the producer with 'magic'."
"You just need to answer my questions."
"No, do you understand? That Asgardian cult, that nonsense with Strange—they're all a bunch of lunatics. They are just a group of mortals who can't survive. They try to use this method to deceive the world. In the end, they even deceive themselves. They're just crazy, understand? In this world, this is the only way they can sleep every day."
"But what will happen to them? The old madman who claimed to be the reincarnation of Thor was dragged out of his home and beaten to death on the street. The woman who claimed to be the harvest goddess Sif was finally burned into a mummy and hung as a scarecrow in the crop field. This world It's over, do you understand? "
Speaking, Nick Fury grinned at Austin.
"If you believe in those lunatics, then no matter what you do, you will not succeed. The only thing worth believing in this world is the gun in your hand."
Listening to Nick Fury's words, Austin's heart became heavier and heavier. It seemed that there really were no supernatural things in this world—no Asgard, no Kamar-Taj.
Without these places, you wouldn't have to bother looking for those supernatural objects. Perhaps this world didn't even have the Infinity Stones, let alone powerful weapons like the Ultimate Nullifier or the Cosmic Cube.*
"Tell me about yourself, Nick. How did you end up like this? I remember your name was on the wanted list, so you've also fought against President X."
Hearing this, Nick Fury lowered his head, his originally burly body looking a little rickety.
"No, I'm just trash. President X is invincible. You guys don't understand. You won't understand. When you face him, he'll turn your brain into a pulp and make you endure hellish pain. Everything about you will be exposed before him, and your resistance is just an ant's struggle."
Nick Fury held his head and murmured aimlessly. His eyes were bloodshot and his body was shaking constantly.
"Is that all?" It was hard to imagine that Professor X, after turning dark, could be so fierce, frightening Nick Fury into this state. After all, the President X of this world was much weaker compared to other universes.
"His ability is telepathy, right? As a mutant, I don't believe he doesn't have weaknesses. Look at other mutants—more or less, their abilities have some influence. For example, that giant who turned himself into a sculpture. Is it possible that President X's ability is so perfect without any flaws?"
Nick Fury was silent for a while, seeming to be thinking about something. He rubbed his hands and then spoke.
"No, I remember he wasn't like this originally. Later, I heard that he absorbed too many memories, which led to him developing multiple personalities. He turned into a lunatic who wasn't quite human or ghost. Sometimes he was polite, sometimes he would be angry and curse at people. Some even saw him sitting in a wheelchair naked, driving down the street."
"I probably understand now." Austin nodded thoughtfully.
"So where is he now? He hasn't appeared since the Avengers were wiped out. Where is he?"
"I don't know, his whereabouts have always been secretive." Nick Fury shuddered and shook his head.
Seeing this, Austin sighed.
"Well, thanks for the help, Nick."
"Then mine—" Nick Fury raised his head and was about to say something, but he suddenly stopped in place. He saw Austin in front of him holding a pistol and pointing it straight at his head.
Without any hesitation, Austin fired.
The dull sound of the gunshot was quickly swallowed up by the darkness, and it also did not attract anyone's attention, just like before.
There was just another body in the alley.

( T/L:
Ultimate Nullifier - The Ultimate Nullifier has been described as "The Universe's Most Devastating Weapon". As such, the Ultimate Nullifier has the ability to eliminate any target the wielder chooses, along with the user if his or her mind is not focused enough. In the hands of a being with an extremely powerful mind, the Ultimate Nullifier can destroy entire timelines from beginning to end or even erase (and paradoxically recreate) the entire infinite Marvel multiverse.
Cosmic Cube - The Cosmic Cube is an item that can control matter and energy, answering to the will of the sentient beings that use them. They require practice to be used properly, but a skillful user can alter all reality to answer to its thoughts, granting anything they desire. The Cube (renamed the Tesseract) plays a central role in several films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in which it is ultimately depicted as containing the Space Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones. )
