Chapter 2 : Assignment

Chapter 2 : Assignment

To see if the Nurse is lying or not, Hakeem purses his lips. His heart runs like a motor. The Nurse has a "I told you so" expression on her face.

"What can I do with these capabilities, I can't live an ordinary life anymore," says Hakeem.

He covers himself with the sheet and is about to turn over and go to sleep until The Nurse, says something.

"You were given the motorcycle engine to fight crime, we had it in the safe for a long while, but, we were waiting to see, watching and examining the patients, you Hakeem seemed like the best fit. You were the most normal patient that we had, we did research on you before the operation, you're personable, have leadership qualities and abilities, your reasoning skills are beyond average. And these are testimonies we got from your friends, family and teachers, people who know you best, we could have given you a regular heart, but we didn't know if or when we would come across someone of your caliber again."

"What do you think, do you think you're prepared/" asks The Nurse.

The Doctor comes in, the stethoscope's over the shoulder. Hands are in front pockets. He escorts the Nurse out of the patient's room.

"How are you Mr. Prescott? asks The Doctor combing fingers through curly, wooly hair.

"Tired, sleepy and drowsy, says Hakeem.

"Your recovery went extremely well, you should be out of the hospital in a day or two, as the Nurse said.

Hakeem yawns big. Getting comfortable in bed seems like a chore. He can't seem to adjust the bed's incline with the button on the right side.

The next day,, Monroe and Billy show up at the hospital. Hakeem is sitting up eating cereal.

"I saw those dudes again, you know the ones we ran into that night. Me and Monroe handled the situation. Hakeem, I wish you was there", says Billy.

Hakeem continues eating and watching tv. They overhear guys asking about Hakeem, Monroe and Billy. They are adamant. Hakeem stops eating. He doesn't recognize the voices. Monroe and Billy do. They go outside and tussle with the men. It's the guys from yesterday. Billy and Monroe thought they finished them off. Hakeem gets dressed. The medical staff are begging for help on the fifth floor. Hakeem leaves the room and is confronted by one of the men.

He's never seen the guy before. The man rushes him . Hakeem bends down, flips him over. Bones cracking as he's on the floor.

"You want it with me?" says Hakeem as the VROOM VROOM VROOM noise appears.

Scaring the man on the floor. He's too broken up to leave. As Hakeem keeps talking the VROOM, VROOM, VROOM sound increases. He rapidly throws body and face shots. The man's head hits the floor.

Monroe and Billy struggle against their opponents. Seeing this, an excited Hakeem runs over and does a somersault in mid air. The VROOM, VROOM, VROOM noise morphing into the motorcycle idling sound. Billy and Monroe are bruised and bloodied. Coming closer to their comrade that saved them. Monroe asks, "They made you into a motorcycle man, I heard the noise before and could have sworn the hospital had a policy allowing motorbikes.

"Just now, I thought someone was watching a motorcycle show, program while we were getting it on with those clowns. The men beaten up by Hakeem get up. Their bodies aching and sore. The cops arrive with plastic handcuffs and arrest the men. Monroe and Billy are escorted to a secret part of the hospital by a group of Doctors dressed in white and orange uniforms.

"I don't want to stay here, where we going?" asks Monroe.
