Five

As I gaze at the light on the other side, it finally dawns on me. The walls around me are caving in. It's happening! My mother is giving birth to me at long last! I look down at the light, and to my surprise, a massive hand reaches out and touches me. "You're almost there, honey!" my father yells. It's my father's hand!

"Just let me know when it comes out!" my mother screams angrily. Well, at least I can tell who's the more dominant one in the relationship. As I'm gradually pushed out, a surge of elation washes over me. Finally, the light breaks through, and I see...my parents?!

What the hell is going on here? Why do my father's horns protrude from his head? Is that a branch coming out of my mother's head? What are those things on their heads?! I never actually looked at myself before, come to think of it.

As I lift my tiny clawed hands, I realize my skin is scaly. My scales have a bluish-green color, while my skin is pale green. I rub my head with my raised hands, not feeling any horns yet, but I suspect they will grow as I get older. My mother and father give me a puzzled look as I stare back at them. Oh yes, they just saw a newborn baby examining itself, didn't they? I let out a loud sob in an attempt to bring them back to reality.

"Did you see that, honey?" my mother asks.

"Yeah, it was as if he was seeing what he was looking at for the first time," my father remarks.

"He must be born a genius!!" she exclaims with a grin on her face. "Give my brainy child to me!" she demands firmly.

"Yes, my son is the toughest baby on the planet! He'll be a force to be reckoned with, both physically and mentally!" my father excitedly declares.

My mother smiles as she cradles me in her arms, wiping away my pretend tears. "Isn't he stunning, honey?" she asks.

"Do you mean he's attractive? Look at him, for goodness' sake. Yes, he's quite the heartthrob!" my father says, tickling my stomach. I don't respond, instead, I grab his finger and move it out of the way. I'm a man trapped in the body of a child. I refuse to be treated like this.

"Oh, and he's a fighter, just like my Lovely!" my father adds, kissing my mother on the cheek.

As they shower me with compliments, I take a good look at them without freaking out. My mother has a chiseled jaw that complements her light green skin. Her brown hair hangs down to her shoulders, and her eyes shine with a bright blue light that matches her lips. Then there are the branches protruding from her head, emitting a soft glow. I immediately recognize her as a dryad. So that explains my green skin, but what about the scales?

My father picks me up and cradles me while my mother sleeps. He has a brown complexion and long grayish-brown hair flowing down his back. His horns and neck are adorned with jewels. Unlike my mother, who has multiple branches coming out of her head, my father only has four horns. Two emerge from the front of his head, while the other two emerge from the back. He has a large, muscular physique, almost like a character from a bara/muscle genre, not that I would know what that is.

Quickly dismissing those thoughts, I feel a rumble in my stomach. "Sweetie, wake up! Our child is hungry!" my father says

, shaking my mother. My mother rises from the bed with a hunger akin to a vampire surrounded by bleeding humans.

"My child is starving!" she exclaims, wearing a big smile on her face. This can't possibly be happening, right? I'm not hungry at all! "Just look at him, he's crying! Give him to me right away!" I'm not crying for that woman! Ahh!!
