Saying my descent upon the city was graceful would be an errant and blatant lie. As a villain, lying might be quite appealing, but at this very moment, I am more of a writer than a villain. Thus, I must admit, although hesitantly, that I fell with all the grace of a swan being drowned.

Tossing to and fro, I tried fruitlessly to regain the control over my limbs that the harsh winds kept snatching from me. It seems being lighter than a feather, when combined with almost-strong winds would lead to me tumbling through the air. After only a few seconds, my focus veered away from trying to fly in a way that wasn't absolutely chaotic, into trying to keep the blood I'd stolen down.

But every journey must come to an end, and mine ended without fireworks.

If my memories haven't died to me, I crashed into the toupe of some foreign-looking civilian, all dressed up in a suit and all. There in the pathetic excuse for a wig, I regained my senses. The world stopped swimming, revealing my location to not only be in the toupe of a man, but also in the square.

This square, one of many in this particular city, has a very interesting fountain, which is why I can remember it at all. The fountain is much like a very large flower, of the lotus variety. If my memory serves, somebody had once suggested they add a Buddha statue on top, but it never came to fruition.

That was the very statue I was now staring at like a drunk man viewing water. The blood-filled head beneath me did not tempt me. I was full, and I needed it just... sit down for a moment. Breathe.

If I could have flown more quietly, I would have. The buzzing annoyed me, and in my less-than-stellar state of mind, it was just about the most annoying thing I had ever heard. Once I sat down on one of the upper petals, I could finally feel the inertia wear off.

Satan be damned, that was... quite something. But I got what I needed! The previous life-juices of a close relative!! With this, I shall grant strength to this measly body, and give me an army to rule!

Hoohohohoho, system! I demand you use six points of blood to create three underlings, and use the rest to invest in... let's see... -Flight! The faster I can fly, the less likely I am to be damaged!

Insufficient Blood to gain 1 stat point in Flight

...Curses upon ye, tvi, tvi!

Very well, I must have underestimated the points necessary to increase my stats. Ten Blood for one point. What a plunder, I say.

System, omit that last part, I miscalculated. Instead... create two more underlings. The more I have, the less I have to go out and get blood myself. A fool would call me lazy, a wise man would call me, well, wise.

Suddenly, a shiver passes through my body, five of my six limbs without warning dropping from my body with little to no pain and effort. They simply fell right off. Stunned, I stare at the limbs, watching them form into mosquitos my own size within mere seconds. I worry that I've lost the limbs permanently, but when I look down, all the limbs I had lost have returned to me, as if they were never shed in the first place.

I turn back to the newly formed mosquitos. They stare at me, black eyes filled with a million tinier black eyes. As I now notice, their bodies, and subsequentially my own body, are grey and blue. Dark blue and dark grey, but still hardly the colours of evil. This will need changing.

My mind wanders back to the evolution skill, and I wonder how I can gain levels. Most likely through blood, but that can wait.

The mosquitos, a total of five, are still staring at me. I feel a vague connection to them. If I command one of them to raise their foot, they will do just so, same if I order them all to rise. Very good. My only worry is whether or not they can perform more... intricate tasks.

I straighten my legs a bit in order to stand just slightly above them.

You there. Second one from the left. Go off and fetch me some blood.

The second one from the left makes to rise, but I stop him at the very last second. Do you really think I'll allow you to leave without giving a salute?

The mosquito scrambles for a second, before raising his proboscis to the air, his antennae straightening out to form a symbol of sorts. I nod, and he flies off, a slight tremor to his wings. The other mosquitos look at me expectantly, most likely hoping to also be sent off on a mission.

Oh no. I am as anxious to grow our power as you are, but we need confirmation before we can get to work. If we don't get it, we might as well-,

Mosquito 2 has reached maximum Blood capacity

Oho. Very good. Now, return to me, my child!

From the corner of my eye, I notice a mosquito, flying closer to me with the determination of a trooper returning from war. I grin at the sight, seeing how his abdomen was crimson and full. It seemed, if I wished to make use of the blood they sucked, I would need for them to also return to me unscathed.

Mosquito 2, as his name appears to be, lands beside us, hopping side to side on his feet like an excited puppy.

...Very good! You have returned! Now, transfer the blood from your body into mine, so that I may make use of it for our betterment!

Mosquito 2 stares at me, head tilted, once again much like a puppy.

...There now, don't be shy. Hand over the blood.

He glances between me and his blood-filled abdomen.

...Do you not know how?

He nods his head.

Well, uh, neither do I, as hard as it is to admit... I walk up to him, circling his body. I don't like how he's the same size as I am, but I can't do much about it. The abdomen is, indeed, filled with blood, as proven by the bulging red bits on the sides. Looking at my own abdomen, I can't help but wonder if there isn't something that separates mine from his, other than the lack of blood, that is...

Indeed, there is something. At the very end, there is a ridge, a groove, hiding something that my underlings do not possess. I focus, feel it, and...

A small, thin string-like thing pops up. Like a... like a biological feeding-tube, almost. Mosquito 2 beams at the sight, surely understanding that I have realized the solution to our problem.

I turn back to mosquito 2. Mosquitwo? Either way, I let the tail-like appendage probe about, trying to see if anything feels right, until...

On his back, the upper part of his blood-filled abdomen, I find something of a crater, perfectly sized for my tail. I put my tail there, and as if by instincts, the blood simply flows into my abdomen. Hot Diggity dog! Oh, lord below, excuse my language.

Maximum Blood capacity has been reached

Oho, perfect!

A few order to the system, and five more underlings stand before me, ready to serve my every whim.

Loyal servants! You may be newly born, but in our battle for world domination, you might as well be a thousand years old. I order the lot of you, find blood! Steal from those pitiful apes that swarm about us! Suck it from the disease-ridden stray cats and dogs that roam the city like ghosts of the past! Take it non-consensually from blood banks! Once your belly is full, weighted by your virtuous deeds to me, your Overlord of Evil! And fret not, you will be handsomely rewarded! With more comrades to fight beside and a stronger master to serve!!

The mosquitos, ten strong, all buzz their wings in a combination of applause and cheer, and I nod, happy with my first evil overlord speech.

Now, go!

The mosquitos all lift, but I'm not quite done.

Mosquitwo! Hold on there.

The mosquito in questions stops and turns around, floating down beside me. I nod to him, and he hurrdily bows down to me. Better.

As reward for following my first orders, for scouting out an unknown world, I shall reward you with a position as my personal bodyguard. My safety is your greatest priority. If a man seeks to end me, you will buzz in his ears, ready to sacrifice your body and life to save me. That is your noble and unholy purpose.

Mosquitwo stares at me for a moment, his eyes wide and glittering with sheer awe.

What say you?

Mosquitwo nodes frantically, bowing down even deeper before performing the salute.

Good. Now stand by me as we await the incoming river of blood.

We have an army to create.
