As the battle commenced Will Elaine and Magnus jumped down from the wall, Elaine hastily twirling her staff in the air several roots erupted from the ground, catching them in the fall. Nodding towards each other Will looked at the hooded Elaine and the axe wielding Magnus, seeing nothing but confidence in their gaze Will became assured they were ready for the battle ahead. Rushing our towards the battlefield Will quickly met up with the enemy, several smaller spawn standing before him, amalgamations of unknown creation, he twirled his blades in a routine pounded into him since he could first walk. Dodging to the right he slashed in a downwards arc with his left hand and cleaved one of the monsters in two and afterwards rotated his longsword ninety degrees outwards as he drew an arc in front of him, slashing two monsters in two from the hip down. Looking around for his two allies he could see a manic expression on Magnus' face as he cleaved a larger monster in two, splitting it from the head down to its solar plexus. Meanwhile Elaine run around a group of four smaller monster and slammed her staff into the ground, several roots erupted from the ground, puncturing the enemy from underneath. Looking back Will could see the knight squads holding the defense, but he knew they had to rout the enemy fast.
"Magnus! Elaine! Follow me." Will shouted out as he ran past a group of spawn towards their target, the 3 meter tall monster that were similar in shape to a large bear. Arriving before it Will took both blade and raised them above his right shoulder and slashed with them both in a wide arc towards the monsters right front leg. Making impact the blade etched themselves a couple centimeters into the flesh of the monster. The bear monster roared in anger and with it left front paw raised it and slammed down on Will's location, causing the prince to roll backwards. Escaping danger Will called out to Elaine to bind the monster like before. Hearing the command Elaine once again slammed down the staff and several roots of different sizes erupted underneath the monster, its back legs trapped in the roots.
"Urgh. Will I can't hold it for long!" Elaine called out.
"Let me handle it!" Magnus shouted after he slew another monster that tried to ambush Elaine. Rushing forward Will switched places with the giant and looked on as Magnus jumped and swung his axe in a downward arch, aiming at the monster's side. Making contact due to Elaine's snare the axe slashed into its hide, black blood spluttering out from the large gash. Roaring in anger and pain the monster slammed downwards causing a shockwave to erupt, pushing Will, Magnus and Elaine back several meters. Losing connection with the roots the monster was freed from Elaine's roots. Sensing the newfound danger of the enemy it began rushing forward.
"Magnus, gain its attention!" Will screamed as he got an idea.
"Got it!" Magnus began running away from the monster, causing it to give chase, only paying attention to the fleeing Magnus Will instead rushed forward and when the two were only two meters away Will sheathed his short sword, Will then crouched down into a slide and lifted his remaining sword and held it with both hands up into the air. When the monsters chest was above him he stabbed upwards, the flesh tearing as the bear roared out in pain as it could feel the pain nearing its core, trying to stop its momentum the beast began contracting its muscles to stand upright but before it could finish its actions Will screamed out and rose up, stabbing the blade further into its body, feeling the blade making contact with something hard he pushed a final time and he could hear the shattering of glass as the wide eyed monster slumped down, Will hastily rolled to the side to make way for the large body. Stabbing it once again in the neck he could finally see that the monster was dead.
"That was something." Magnus commented as he returned to Will's side, Elaine already up and wiping sweat from her brow.

"How are we looking?" Will asked his allies.
"Im still good, only a scratch from a failed dodge." Magnus commented.
"Tired but fine. The snare took more mana than I anticipated." Elaine responded.
"Good, let's retreat to the knights and aid them." Will commanded, getting nods in return the hastily made their retreat, seeing their allies taking solid ground against the spawn.

Meanwhile on the eastern side Alicia, Chara and Redway were clashing against a barrage of spawn, trying to get close to the abomination, standing over five meters tall it hovered over the battlefield.
"How the hell are we supposed to get close to this thing!" Chara shouted out whilst slashing down a spawn that looked like a dark fox. Alicia didn't respond as she continuously used her All-seeing eye to look around the battlefield, but her whole vision was filled with black spots, the core of the spawn. Thinking hastily she suddenly jumped backwards towards Redway's location.
"Captain, can you give me thirty seconds of room?"
"Of course, Chara, on my position!"
Chara rushed over and helped Redway to defend Alicia. Their slashes cut down enemies left to right but they could sense their stamina dropping. After nearing the aforementioned time Alicia called out, "run behind me!" Following her command the duo pushed back as Alicia held the book of tevali in her hand, a surge of mana rushed from her core towards the red and purple gems, shouting out "ADURO!" as the mana coalesced into the gem a shockwave of fire and electricity rushed forward in a cone, blasting the enemy backwards and the less vital enemies roasted to ashes.
"What the fuck was that!" Chara shouted out towards Alicia, baffled by the spell.
"A fourth level spell, can only do twice a day, let's go!" Alicia shouted back as they headed towards the behemoth. Arriving before the monstrous being Chara began channeling her mana and her blade was coated in fire, whilst Redway brandished his blade. Rushing forward the began slashing and slamming spell after spell into the being, dodging its tentacles the trio caused visible damage but it wasn't enough as two tentacles slammed into Redway and Chara, pushing them several meters back, panting in tiredness the two sword wielders looked at each other and nodded, before once again rushing forward, cutting the approaching tentacles in two, the monstrosity gurgled in pain and lashed outwards with its other tentacles, but Alicia continuously fired lightning, Fire and Water bullets to block them from approaching.
"Think Alicia, what can you do?!" Alicia lashed out towards herself, wanting to help her allies. Suddenly a warm stream of energy from from her core towards the spell book in her right hand as a sudden epiphany dawned on her.
"It's all or nothing."
As she spoke she called out to Chara and Redway to get ready, hearing her comment they knew something was up as they stepped forward and began pushing towards the main body. Alicia channeled nearly all her mana into the book, the gems on her body listening like a starlit night as the mana seeped into the crystal white gems.
"ENZOR!" Alicia slammed her left hand on the ground, tightening her grip on the book as mana surged outwards as the monster suddenly stopped in its tracks as ice began to rapidly surround its lower body and going upwards. Seeing the attack Chara pushed her core to the limit as the sword in her hands bursted into an inferno of flames and as the monster was completely stuck in ice Chara and Redway arced their blades and slammed the edge into the monster, a burst of energy slamming fire against ice as the ice statue began cracking rapidly and a shower of ice, monster bits and flames rained down.
Gasping for air Chara looked towards Redway and smiled, before turning her head backwards noticing the slumped body of Alicia on the cold ground.
"ALICIA!!" Chara screamed as she rushed towards the body of Alicia, picking her up in a princess carry she began checking her vital signs, noticing her faint breathing and still beating heart Chara sighed in relief.
"She is okay, just completely exhausted from mana consumption, we have to retreat." Chara explained to the bewildered Redway.
"Good." Redway commented as they began rushing towards the gate where their allies were valiantly holding the line.
