Waking up, Ekia opened his eyes to see that they were still in the sky. Sitting up he looked over to see that the sky was starting to get darker. ‘Where are we going?’ Ekia thought as he yawned. Carefully looking over the side, the environment had significantly changed. While the land was still open, there were a few trees scattered around a giant lake. Feeling scared Ekia sat back, he wasn’t sure if he was able to swim in this body or if it lacked stamina. Getting comfortable, Ekia hoped that they would land soon.
“Hungry filth?” Mia asked harshly.
“No!” Ekia replied, looking away as the others began to eat some strange looking things.
“Well tough!” Mia stated before she threw a bag of something at Ekia.
Carefully opening the bag, the things inside kind of looked like crisps from his real world but oddly they had no smell at all. Taking a bite, Ekia was surprised by how delicious it was. Once done Ekia took another bag that was handed over before drifting off into a full, uncomfortable sleep. Struggling to open his eyes, Ekia could tell that he was being carried off to somewhere. As his view became clear, he saw that it was Levi.
“Wake now boy?” Levi asked kindly, pattign Ekia on the back softly. “We have just arrived!”
Slowly looking around it appeared that they were inside of a small town, the streets were wide and the ground was basically dirt. The houses look like they were made of stone and wood but Ekia couldn’t be sure. Looking up it appeared that dawn was slowly coming around as the sun was peeking over some of the buildings. As Levi walked, they soon entered a large building where there were a lot of people around, the atmosphere was happy and smelled delicious. ‘These are adventurers’ Ekia thought happily. ‘Maybe I can ask for their help’.
“Hey Ash, I would like to register this little fellow to my party!” Levi asked someone happily.
“That’s fine Levi, have him fill out the information so that he can get his badge while you fill out this form!” Ash stated as she laid out two sets of papers.
Being placed down on a chair, Ekia was handed a pencil as his papers were slid in front of him. Looking over the paperwork, there was a lot of questions but only two that he could answer. These were his name and gender. Staring blankly at the other questions, Ekia was surprised that he couldn’t remember or answer anything else. He knew little about himself.
“I’ll handle the rest!” Ash stated as she took the pencil and paperwork. “Look here!”
Looking up, Ekia found himself staring at a ball that scanned him and displayed text that Ekia couldn’t read, it was in an unknown language to him. Once the paperwork was done, Ash handed two sets of them to Levi,
“I see that you want him to become an adventurer, just remember that he can only take e and and d rank missions!” Ash stated. “Here Ekia, your very own adventure’s badge!”
Before Ekia could take the badge, Levi took it and attached it to Ekia’s coat before patting him on his head.
“We will start a quest today while the others find lodging and sort other things out!” Levi started before picking Ekia up and carried him towards the mission board.
Ekia felt confused and decided to not ask Ash for help since Levi seemed to have a close relationship with the guild and its workers.
“Let's see what would be an easy quest to start you with!” Levi stated calmly in a smooth voice.
Looking at the board he didn’t understand any of the words and began wondering if it would be best to learn before escaping so he could be less clueless.
“Huh this one will be good!” Levi stated. “It would be useful to have you learn to pick some herbs and other items while we are traveling since everyone else is usually busy!”
Once the job was accepted Ekia was carried outside and down a maze of streets before they went through the gates out of town. On their way out, it felt like the town was waking up as people were leaving their homes and wandering around. There were a few people in this area, some were picking herbs or other items, playing or practicing their skills against weak monsters. ‘This is like a starter town in games’ Ekia thought as he watched the action happening.
“Alright we are here!” Levi stated charmingly as he placed Ekia down onto the ground. “See this, it's the herb that you need to collect!”
Staring at the paper, it had a picture that showed a green herb that had a slightly purple tip, Ekia didn’t feel confident that he would find anything since the ground below them was also green. Looking closely at the ground, Ekia could only see grass and some flowers but none that looked like the herb.
“Want a hint?” Levi asked charmingly as he patted Ekia on his head.
“Yes please!” Ekia stated silently, hoping that he could buy time and appear weak and mostly useless.
Dropping to his knees near Levi, Ekia watched as he somehow found the herb. It looked smaller than he thought and the purple tip was tiny.
“Want to try again?” Levi asked. “You should be able to find a bunch in this patch!”
O..ok?” Ekia replied feeling uncomfortable as he didn’t see any.
Searching through the patch, Ekia pulled out some grass and other herbs he couldn’t find any.
“That’s enough, I’ll grab what we need and then we can head back to see the others!” Levi stated as he quickly began picking the herbs.
Just as Ekia was going to get comfortable, Levi had finished picking the herbs before pulling Ekia up and in the direction of the town. Walking steadily through the town, they entered the guild where Levi handed in the quest. Feeling tired and struggling to keep up, Ekia found himself being carried by Levi as they left the guild. The place had started to get crowded as Levi walked, there were so many people around going about their lives, happy. After a few moments, Ekia began noticing that some were making disgusted looks and whispering about something in their direction. ‘Is that aimed at me or Levi?’ Ekia thought. The idea of poking his tongue out, he decided against that. Feeling Levi quicken his pace, Ekia tried to get a better view of his surroundings through the small spaces between the people. It seemed that there were stores and stalls with some people calling out items for sale and their prices. There was so many people, from humans to beastmen. There were elves that looked similar to Lucas and only two that looked like him but they had collars on their necks with gems attached to it. ‘Glad I have a badge instead of a collar’ Ekia thought. Feeling Levi’s grip tighten on him Ekia did his best to stay still and not move much. Hearing a door opened, they were surrounded by a sweet and mysterious amour, Ekia couldn’t help but drool. Being placed down on the ground Levi wiped the drool off Ekia’s mouth before turning him around to face a lady holding a camera.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
“Smile!” the lady said before snapping a photo. “Hope you two enjoy your time here!”
Being taken by the hand Ekia was led down a hallway which became a wide, open area full of people, chairs and everything in a restaurant or cafe. It was amazing. Noticing that someone was waving at them, Ekia realized that it was Luna. Being led towards them, Ekia found himself being held tightly by Levi as he heard the sound of plates crashing. Looking in the direction of where the sound came from, there was hot food and liquids steaming on the floor. Ekia couldn’t help but shudder at the thought of getting them dropped on him and the pain that would spread.
“Be more careful!” Levi growled threateningly, making Ekia feel scared and not wanting to be the focus of his anger.
“I’m sorry!” the maid said before quickly leaving.
Reaching the others Ekia was lifted up to the seat before Levi slid in beside him. On the table there were already some dishes and drinks.
“What with the urgency?” Levi asked, once again back to his normal charming self.
“After we eat, we need to head to the Inn or they won’t allow us a room. Apparently a festival is about to happen in the coming day!”
“Lets order something to eat, shall we?” Mia asked sweetly, handing a menu over to Levi.
Taking a peak at the menu there were a few pictures, some he recognised and others that looked strange.
“Want to look?” Levia said before lowering it for Ekia. “You can choose anything!”
“I don’t know!” Ekia replied, looking down knowing that he had to trust the others to choose something for him.
He couldn’t help but worry about what the food would taste like since the place may not have the same animals like on Earth.
“I’ll order you something then!” Mia stated sweetly before calling a maid over.
The maid looked like she was in her mid twenties, she had ponytails that were dark brown and dark green eyes.
“Hello, are you all ready to order?” the maid asked happily, meowing.
‘What?’ Ekia thought slightly confused that the maid meowed after taking, that was when he saw a female beastman doing some performances to the side with people watching. She was doing some juggling with different items, it was amazing.
“Since you are our new member shall you tell us about yourself?” Mia asked, close to Ekia’s face.
Looking at Mia, Ekia realized that he hadn't thought about what he was going to say or use as a cover story. ‘Should I tell the truth or lie?,’ Ekia thought for a moment.
“Come on now!” Mia asked, her niceness slightly disappearing
“I don’t remember anything before you found me!” Ekia quickly stated, looking down, deciding it was safer to give most of the truth.
“Not surprising or you wouldn’t have been there, elves usually protect their young!” Mia said, taking a sip of tea. “Wonder what could have happened?”
“That's of no concern now, you can’t read right?” Lucus asked firmly.
“Um…yes!” Ekia replied, feeling uncomfortable.
“In exchange for trying to really trust us, I’ll give you a device to help you learn to read and do some other stuff!” Lucus stated, pulling a contract out of nowhere.
“Ok!” Ekia replied before a pearl flower appeared on the signature spot.
“Good!” Lucus stated before the contract rolled up and disappeared. “First lesson is that each individual have their own signature sign that appears when they agree to a contract, some might just be simple variations!”
Nodding his head, Ekia was surprised. This world seemed strange and unique.
“Your food is ready now!” the maid stated happily before she began placing down the dishes and drinks.
Staring at the dish that was placed in front of him, it looked like chips and some type of burger. His drink appeared to be orange drink or something similar. Reaching for a chip, Ekia’s hand was grabbed by Mia.
“Wash your filthy hands first!” Mia stated before turning Ekia’s hand over and dropping some strange looking and smelling liquid on his hand. “Rub your hands together now before it spills!”
Carefully rubbing his hands together with some of the strange liquid dripping on his lap, it felt cold. Once done Ekia reached out slowly for a chip again, he wasn’t stopped this time. Biting into it, the chip tasted delicious. The saltness mixed with the heat was amazing. Grabbing another one after another, Ekia found himself unable to stop before the dish was moved away from him. Looking up, feeling slightly disappointed, Ekia couldn’t help but feel annoyed that Mia kept on preventing him from eating. ‘Will she keep trying to be controlling?’ Ekia thought upset since he might not be able to do anything with her around nor fulfill his hunger at this very moment.
“Take it easy!” Mia stated sweetly before pushing the dish back to Ekia. “There is no need to rush, it won’t be taken from you ok?”
Pulling the dish closer to him, Ekia began eating again while keeping a slight view on Mia and ensuring he was eating slower to prevent it from being taken again. Feeling less hungry after a while, Ekia began to look around to see that everyone in this cafe was being kind to each other and having fun, it felt so nice. Realizing that he had no ships left, Ekia decided to try the burger. Carefully lifting the burger up while trying to not spill anything Ekia realized that it was too big for him to bite. Placing it down, Ekia began to wonder if he could break it without making a mess.
“Would you like me to cut the burger for you!” the maid meowed, appearing out of nowhere.
Looking up, the maid was holding a long, sharp knife, it was an interesting sight to see.
“Yes please!” Ekia said quietly before watching the maid skilfully cut the burger into small bite size pieces.
“Here you go, call me if you need anything else!” the maid said meowing before leaving quickly, not giving Ekia a chance to thank her.
Taking one of the pieces Ekia took a bite and was amazed by the texture and flavor, it was extremely tasty. Taking another bite, Ekia soon found himself too full to eat more but had no desire to leave the food behind. Picking another piece up, Ekia wondered if he could eat a few more pieces before feeling sick. Feeling a hand gently on his shoulder Ekia looked up to see that Levi was smiling sweetly down at him.
“I’ll see if they can put the rest in a container so try not to over eat, I can’t have you getting sick now!” Levi stated before taking the piece from him and moving the dish away.
Accepting that he didn’t have any choice in what happens to his food, Ekai returned his attention to his drink. Picking it up and taking a sip, the drink tasted strange and made his stomach feel off. Spitting what he had in his mouth back into the cup before placing it back onto the table, the aftertaste didn’t help much either.
“Guess you don’t like it?” Mia asked sweetly, hiding her desire to chuckle badly. “We should get moving now anyways since everyone is done!”
Watching as the others got up, Ekia was about to slip down off the chair when he was lifted up by Levi. In William’s hand was a container. Being carried outside into the busy streets, it had gotten much crowder and people were shoving against each other. Holding tightly onto Levi, Ekia couldn’t help but worry about getting squashed or pulled away. Feeling Levi patting his back, Ekia tried to calm down but it felt difficult.
“Don’t worry, you are safe with me!” Levi stated charmingly, directly near Ekia’s ear.
Feeling calmness overtake him, Ekia rested his head against Levi’s shoulder and loosen his grip before drifting off into a peaceful sleep.
