Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“It’s been seven years since that day,” Rey said as he looked up at the clear blue sky, he could hear the chirping of Owl fiends in the distance, reminding him of that fateful day, when his whole life changed forever.

“But I’ve finally found you, and today you will pay for what you did seven years ago, Misticio.”

Rey clenched his fist tightly, grabbing his Monstro staff as if it was going to disappear from his hand at any moment, and along with it, his chance at justice for his village, its inhabitants, and his family.

“REX! LET” S GO!”

He shot his Monstro staff forward and a light came out of the mouth of the dragon shape head at the end of his staff, releasing a green dinosaur Monstro.

“RARW!”

Both Rey and his Monstro partner, Rex, ran toward where their journey had brought them too.

A journey Rey had started seven years ago when he woke to the remains of his village.

Every single one of them gone now, except for him, the only survivor of Leaf Town village.

A village lost to the history of Monstro Island now, but today he was going to get justice for them.

He came to a stop in front of the temple of Gaia, which was located deep in the elven forest, and a fitting place to make Misticio pay for using the gift of taming in such a cruel way that fateful day.

The temple was just as he had envisioned, large with Monstro statues on each side.

One of the great four-tamer temples that rested on Monstro Island, or so he had read, while chasing Misticio.

He stood before the entrance, ready to take on the one responsible for all his anger and pain.

“MISTICIO!” Rey yelled, his voice scaring the few Monstros that had been around the area.

“It’s been a while, Old friend,” Misticio said, smiling at the young tamer with white hair, the young tamer he had met seven years ago when he first made Leaf Town Village his home.

“You haven’t aged a day my dear old friend, why is that I wonder?” Misticio said, noticing that the young tamer that stood before him still had the appearance of a 10 year old child, when he should be on his fifteen year birthday.

“You did this to me,” Rey said, ever since that day, when Misticio attacked the village, his appearance had remain the same, except when there was a full moon, then he would be revert back to his normal appearance.

“An odd thing indeed, I wonder if its related….”Misticio said, scratching his chin and wondering if what he wanted to achieve had somehow cursed Rey in the process.

“ENOUGH ABOUT THAT !” Rey yelled,

“I did not come to talk about things that don’t matter, I came to make you pay for what you did that day… “

“I see you’re still after that foolish endeavor of yours. I would have thought that all those past fails should have taught you a lesson, my dear old friend.”

“Foolish…” Rey muttered, their faces clear as day in his mind.

“You think that what I’m after is foolish?.”

“But what else would you call it, my dear old friend,” Misticio said, smiling at him mockingly.

“ I call it…

JUSTICE!”

Rey felt his anger boil inside of him, stopping it from overtaking him like the last time, he needed to be calm and collected, this was it. There was no more second chances .

“What I seek is justice for your actions against a village and its people. A village that gave you a home. A village that opened its arms to you and whose kindness you pay in blood”

“Oh! justice, is that what you’re after, yet…” Misticio said, grinning at him,

“ Is justice really what’s behind that fire in your eyes? That burning desire for…

“Vengeance.”

“ENOUGH !” Rey yelled,

“ I did not come to chit chat, I came for them, for the people of Leaf Town Village and my family.”

“But my dear old friend, don’t you understand, they were a part of a great beginning that I fear a simple-minded fool like you would not understand. For how can such feeble and simple minds understand the actions of a man that is about to ascend to greatness.”

“ENOUGH!” Rey yelled, pointing his staff at Misticio,

“GO REX!”

“RAWR!”

Rex, the green dinosaur Monstro that had been Rey’s partner for seven years now, dashed toward Misticio, ready to unleash its partner’s burning spirit at the person causing all of his anger.

“What a fine Monstro partner you have, but is he strong enough to take on the great king Behemoth.”

Misticio raised his Monstro staff toward the sky and a dark purple light shot out of his staff, turning the sky above them into a cloudy night.

“COME FORTH! BEHEMOTH!”

A dark figure descended from the sky, its body covered in a black and purple fur. It had two small wings on each side and four horns protruding from its head, its mouth was the snout of a pig with two red beady eyes, and an earring on each side of its pink color ears, and at the end of its tail was a spear shape end.

“I fear you’re simple Monstro partner won’t be much of a fight for the great Behemoth,” Misticio said, smirking at Rey.

“Don’t underestimate us,” Rey said, feeling confident in himself.

“GO REX!”

“SHOW HIM THE STRENGTH OF OUR TRAINING!”

The small green dinosaur Monstro named Rex rushed toward Behemoth, who was four times its size, yet it was unfazed by its size.

“Behemoth crush it!”

Misticio commanded,

“ARRRG!” Behemoth let out a menacing roar and dashed toward Rex.

“Just what I wanted,” Rey said, smirking.

“REX NOW!.”

The Rex bit Behemoth’s arm with all the power of its jaw.

“It’s useless,” Misticio said,

“Behemoth use dark claw.”

And just as Behemoth was going to unleash its attack on the small Rex, he stopped.

“Not so tough are you now,” Rey said, smirking at Misticio, for he had him just where he wanted.

‘Rex’s jaw crunch has a paralyzing effect.”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAH!” Misticio busted in laughter upon hearing Rey’s words.

“What’s so funny?’ Rey said, raising an eyebrow.

“I’m sorry Rey,” Misticio said, wiping away a tear from his laughter.

“You think such a simple status effect could even begin to affect the great king of darkness, Behemoth.”

“ King of darkness?”

“Ah! It seems you have not heard the great tales of the four kings of this Island, then allow me to teach you a small history lesson about Monstro Island and its inhabitants before us who use to rule the island.

Long time ago, there were a group of feared Monstros that ruled the island, ruling the lands, the seas, the skies, and the darkness and light that engulfed our island.

Behemoth here is descended from those very kings, or should I say gods, and you Rey, are about to witness his great power. “

Misticio raised his staff and pointed it at Behemoth, making the small orb that was on his staff begin to glow,

“Behemoth use dark claws.”

Behemoth let out a roar and a gust of wind shot out of him, breaking free of the status effect affecting him.

“Rex!” Rey yelled,

“Watch out!”

Rex moved to the side as it saw Behemoth’s attack coming its way, barely managing to dodge it.

“Do you think that’s all I have,” Rey said, regaining his composure.

“What other surprises are you hiding my dear old friend,” Misticio said, raising an eyebrow, curious as to what the young tamer had up his sleeve.

Rey raised his staff and pointed it at the sky, a red light began to come out of it,

“Rex, let's show them what we've been training for all these years.”

“REX!” Rex let out a roar, feeling a resurgence of energy inside of him, ready to be unleashed.

“REX EVO!” Rey shouted as he pointed his staff at Rex, shooting a red light at him, and causing the small green dinosaur Monstro to be encased by it.

“What’s this, have you mastered the art of evolution,” Misticio said, grinning,

“RAAARRRRRRRR!”

A roar was heard around the forest, causing other wild Monstros to run frightened by it.

“Yes, Rey! Show me the power of your vengeance,” Misticio said, not helping himself from grinning.

The red light that had encased Rex began to break apart as if it was a newborn egg ready to hatch.

“Meet Dramen!” Rey said,

“DRAAA!”

Dramen let out a thunderous roar as it appeared into the world. It had a spiky redhead with two horns coming out and a serpent-like body whose scales were a golden hue with a brown tint to them. He had two dark maroon color wings with a red spike on top of each one and two hands protruding from its serpent body.

“DRAMEN! LET'S DO THIS !” Rey shouted, feeling confident in his Monstro partner and his skills as a tamer as well.

The red-faced dragon named Dramen rushed at Behemoth, ready to unleash its power at him.

The battle between the two Monstros was long and intensive, but in the end, Dramen stood on the floor with Behemoth’s hand around its throat.

“This is the difference in power between a mere common Monstro and a god,” Misticio said, feeling victorious over the young Rey.

“Is not over yet,”

Rey said, gripping his Monstro staff with all the strength he had left. It was said that a tamer and their Monstro partner shared a bond, a bond that allow them to reach the next step in their power called evolution. But this gift had made them share bond between each other as well. Rey’s body was feeling Dramen’s energy. Its strength fading with every second that passed.

“Dramen…” Rey said, as he looked at his Monstro partner at the mercy of Behemoth’s claws.

“I think is about time we end this Rey, I have other business to attend to inside the Temple of Gaia, finish him Behemoth.”

“RAAAA!” Behemoth let out a roar as he tossed Dramen toward Rey,

“AH!”

Rey let out as he caught his Monstro partner, making them both fly toward a tree.

“You fought bravely but unfortunately, just like that day, your weakness has caused you yet again to fail.”

Rey looked at his Monstro partner as it lay on his arms, he could see the scars of its battle with Behemoth on its golden body.

“I’m sorry,” Rey said, as tears began to drop from his face, landing on Dramen’s face and causing the red dragon to turn back into Rex, the small green dinosaur Monstro.

R..e…x”

“Ah! It breaks my heart, it really does,” Misticio said, smiling at Rey,

“I can’t bear to witness such a sad scene.”

“Allow me to give you both a tamers end.”

Misticio raised his staff and pointed it at Rey.

“I know! Why don’t we make this sad scene into a happy scene? Why don’t I show you what I have achieved thanks to your precious village.”

“What are you talking about?” Rey asked confused by his words.

“Rey, you’re about to witness the next step in our evolution, just how Monstros can gain new powers by the art of evolution, so have I.

I have achieved a very special gift. “

What ar…”

Rey stopped, shocked to see Misticio’s staff glowing with the same dark purple flame that Behemoth’s attack had.

“What have yo…”

“Dark despair,” Misticio said, and a dark purple flame shot out of his staff, and toward Rey.

Rey stood frozen, with Rex in his arms, as he saw Misticio’s attack coming their way,

“I have to protect Rex,” was all Rey could think of in that moment.

For this had been the battle that he had lost, he was the only one that should suffer the consequences of his weakness, not Rex.

“I’m sorry, Rex,” Rey said, covering his Monstro’s body with his own, ready to take the attack head-on and protect his Monstro partner from it.

“I’m sorry Rex.”

R-Rex,” Rex said as he looked at Rey’s face, licking his tears.

“Rex!”

The small green Monstro bit his partner's arm with all his might, one last time, ready to protect its partner.

REX! NO!”

Rex jumped from Rey’s arms and toward the dark flame coming their way.

REX!”

The last thing Rey saw was the image of his Monstro partner smiling at him as Misticio’s dark flames engulfed them both.
