Chapter 21

The Monster Tournament

“Welcome everyone to the tournament of Monsters. A tournament where the best of the best tamers from every corner of Monsterra have gathered to see who is the best of them all and worthy of the tamer rank of S class. “

Light looked at all the tamers that had come to the Kingdom of Traineria for the Tournament of Monsters. A tournament that was created by the Monster Tamer Association for tamers to test their abilities with one another and to bring tamers from all over the corner of Monsterra together, and to think it almost didn’t happen due to the king of Traineria’s incident that happened seven years ago at Turtle Mountain.

Luckily, much of Traineria’s anger had been quelled by Villa, except for a certain individual who went by the name of the queen of ruins by many in silence.

Light looked at Emira, the queen of Traineria, she had on a black gown with golden borders and a veil covering her face.

“The queen of ruins,” he thought, wondering what she would think of the nickname the people had given her.

Light looked at the bright blue sky that was so vibrant this afternoon.

“Good afternoon, Director,” Light said as Villa took a seat next to the queen. To him, it felt like a king and queen sitting next to each other, which in a sense wasn’t far off considering the association was running most of the kingdom’s duties these days.

“Good afternoon my queen, Villa said, as he looked at the queen of ruins.

She glanced at him and nodded silently as she went back to what she was looking at, or at whom to be more precise.

“Ten years have passed since the red night, could you believe it, it doesn’t even feel like such an event occurred here in the kingdom, “Villa said, remembering that fateful night that put his vision in motion. He wondered how many people still remember that night, for he was sure the memory of that night was fading with every peaceful day they found themselves in. But of course, he would never forget that night. That night brought him a great opportunity and soon all of Monsterra would see his vision and the future he had in mind for them.

“This should be an interesting tournament, don’t you think, my queen?”

“Of course director,” Emira said, not looking at Villa. Her pale blue eyes never left the tamer from the south. They were the ones responsible for her torment, her sorrow, and her days of peace and love gone from her, stolen by them. They were the ones guilty of all the hurt she was going through every day.

Light noticed the intensity of her pale blue eyes, and looked down on the arena of the colosseum she was so fixed upon, finding the one responsible for the queen of ruin’s anger.

“The Leaf Blade Guild,” Villa said,

“I believe her name is Rose Greenleaf, the oldest daughter of the late Rosely Greenleaf.”

“Greenleaf!”

That name turned her anger into vengeance.

“Is that so,” she said, her stare burning through her black veil.

“But I fear that the Leaf Blade guild is nothing but a shadow of what the south used to be,” Villa said, letting out a sight, pitying them. The Leaf Blade guild was what remained of the Rock Shield guild after the king’s incident, and they were the weakest of the guilds in Monsterra. Once a proud member of the Three major guilds, now nothing more than a second-rate guild.

Villa was surprised that a Leaf Blade guild tamer had made it to the tournament of Monsters S class division Cup. And in a twisted kind of way, he admired her, for there were not many tamers that could withstand such pressure and animosity that the Trainerians were displaying in the Colosseum today.

“How long will this peace last between the south and Traineria,” Light wondered, for he was sure Queen Emira was hungry for vengeance. She and the many Trainerians that mourned their sleeping king. An appetite for revenge that he did not care for, for his old friend, the king would not have supported either.

Villa looked at Light, and nodded, almost as if he knew what he was thinking.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

“Only time would tell, my dear commander,” he said, smirking at him. Which brought an eerie feeling to Light as he looked away from him.

Villa only cared about one thing, and that was his vision coming to fruition, and with the help of Dr. Spark, the creator of the newest Taming device, the gauntlet of Tame.

Light looked at Villa and was sure he would achieve whatever it was he was scheming, wishing the king was here to protect Traineria.

"Soon,” Villa thought, as he overlooked the tournament.

A new era will befall Monsterra, his era, and nothing was going to get in the way, not even the thirst for vengeance by the Trainerians.

Villa reached for Emira’s hand and grabbed it, smiling at her.

“Don’t let them take away from your beauty, my queen, ” he said,

“T-Thank you, director,” she said, taken aback by his gesture, and removing her hand from his.

“Ladies and gentlemen, let the tournament of Monsters begin, and let us witness the great power of the tamers of Monsterra.”

Roars of excitement engulfed the colosseum as fireworks exploded into the bright blue sky of the kingdom of Traineria, signaling the start of the Tournament of Monsters.

Villa watched with little curiosity at the many tamers that were battling against one another. Their monster partners carry the hopes and dreams of their tamers. He was never one that liked taming battles, he found it at times to be brutish for him.

“Folks, it appears that the young tamer from the Leaf Blade Guild, Rose Greenleaf, is on her last monster partner, how will she come out of this predicament? “

The voice of the announcer vibrated throughout the Colosseum, almost as if it had lit the fuse on an explosive keg that hung over the Colosseum.

For the Colosseum erupted in a symphony of booing that Villa could only take pity on her, and the sorry state of the south, wondering what would Roth think if he was here today.

“Such weakness,” he thought.

But to his left, there was a person that was enjoying it, the grin on her face hid nothing from the world.

Emira saw the Leaf Blade, Rose Greenleaf, struggling, feeling a surge of power reinvigorating her. She wanted to see the tamers from the south lose and fail, and with every battle loss despair sinking into them, dragging them to her hell. She wanted to see the look of defeat in the faces of the south, she wanted to feel powerful again. And if she couldn’t be the one to inflict that pain on them, then her tamers would.

“It appears that the young lady from the south has lost,” Villa said,

“It appears so, director,” she said, grinning, her eyes never leaving sight of her and her defeat and taking great delight in it.

Light looked at her and pitied her, her thirst for vengeance had stolen her glow, binding her to darkness. What would the king think if he saw his queen today?

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the end of the battle between the Leaf Blade guild tamer, Rose Greenleaf, from our neighbors in the south and our very own tamer from Traineria, Julian Zephyr, Victory going toward Traineria.”

The Colosseum erupted in an avalanche of roars and hollering. That Light had to give the young lady from the south credit for being able to withstand such pressure. Any tamer of less conviction would have forfeited the battle before it even began, for the pressure that Trainerians were giving off was enough to cloud any tamer’s battle senses.

“Up next is the battle between the tamer from the great Fire empire to the west and the tamer from the great Island of the east, Aquarius. “

“If you’ll excuse me, director,” Emira said getting up from her seat that overlooked the Colosseum,

“I’m very tired, enjoy the rest of the tournament.”

“Of course,” Villa said, getting up from his seat,

“Have a good rest.”

“Light escort our queen.”

“Yes sir,” Light said, walking behind the queen, he looked back at Villa and wondered just what the future held for them under this man.

Villa watched as the queen left the Tournament of Monsters, her reason for coming to such an event coming to an end.

“What a pity the queen of ruins has become,” he thought as he sat back down on his chair that overlooked the tournament as it was engulfed in monster partner's attacks. And to be honest, he had gotten bored of it as well.

And when the final fight had come, Villa was glad that the tournament of monsters had come to an end.

The final fight was between Julian from Traineria and a tamer from the Fire Empire with victory going to Julian.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen is the end of the tournament of monsters. A tournament where many great tamers poured it all, their hopes, dreams, and tears. Let’s give them a round of applause for their bravery, courage, and phenomenal skills that they displayed. Skills that every tamer should aspire for.”

Villa got up from his seat and began to walk down to the field, ready to congratulate the winner, and most importantly, ready to leave the Colosseum and go where he wanted to be, and where his vision was being made.

“Thank you all tamers that participated on this grand occasion, you’re battles were truly of great admiration. But there could only be one winner and today that winner is from our very own kingdom. Today he proved that his exceptional skills as a tamer were above those that challenged him, for there was no opponent he couldn’t conquer. “

Villa walked toward the tamer from Traineria, the young Julian, and gave him his prize, a platinum monster shape cup, as well as a platinum tamer card, signifying his rank as an S -class tamer of the Monster Taming Association.

“And remember tamers, next year this could be you, standing in this same arena, so train hard, and pursue your dreams as tamers of Monsterra. ”

“But without further ado, Ladies and gentlemen give one big round of applause and cheers to the winner of the Tournament of Monsters for this year. Julian Zephyr of the Kingdom of Traineria”

The colosseum erupted in a symphony of cheers and applauses, signaling the end of the Tournament of Monsters. A tournament that many tamers were eager to attend next year, ready to prove themselves to win the coveted S-class tamer rank.
