Crystals of Tame

Chapter 17

“Are these all the tamers that passed the exam, Lucy?” An association worker said, looking at the tamers that were sitting in the hall. Some of the tamers he recognized were from Stonetopolis city and Twinrock town and others were from the small villages in the south.

“Y-Yes,” Lucy said.

“Very well,” he nodded.

“Tamers please follow me for the next portion of the Tamer examination.”

“About time,” one of the tamers said, as he got up from his desk.

He had short light brown hair with shaved sides, a light blue tunic with yellow borders, a white shoulder vest that had yellow borders as well, white pants, and green leather boots.

“I wonder where we are going next?” Lex said as he stood up from his desk.

"Mirabit,” Mirabit said, tilting its head to the side.

Lex and the tamers that had passed walked the halls of the association building toward the next stage of the tamer exam. They saw other association workers walking by and wondered who their next instructor was going to be for the field exam. Though they had heard stories from other tamers who had failed the field exam portion due to one of the instructors making it especially tough to pass, they hoped they wouldn’t get him.

Lex saw all the association workers as they passed them by, and wondered what kind of exam the second portion of the test was. But whatever it was, he knew that he would tackle anything that came his way, he was not going to give up when it came to achieving his dream of being a monster tamer like his mother.

“We're here,” the association worker said, as he stopped by a stone door.

“The next portion of your exam is waiting and tamers, good luck. ”

The association worker looked at the tamers and pitied them for they had the misfortune of getting Arthur as their field instructor. He wished them good luck for they were going to need it.

***

Lex and the tamers walked through the stone door which led them to a garden with a stone pathway that led to a giant brown ship with giant balloons attached to it.

Most of the tamers in the group were familiar with the airships that filled the skies of Monsterra, except for one tamer from a small village.

“What is that?” Lex said as he looked at the giant wooden ship that had the body of a wooden house to him. He had never seen anything like it before.

“of course, a village boy has never seen one before,” the tamer with short brown hair and shaved sides said, scuffing at Lex. Some of the tamers chuckle, making Lex blush.

“Good one, Brent,” one of the tamers that was next to the tall, heavy-set kid named Brent said. He had green hair that covered the side of his face, and he was wearing common clothing you found in any town in the south.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, ready to jump the kid, but Lex petted his head,

“Is okay partner, “ Lex said, he wasn’t going to let anything stop him from his dream, not even ridicule.

Brent looked at Lex and condescendingly shook his head, to think the association was letting any village kid take the monster-taming exam was truly baffling to him. After all, becoming a tamer meant riches and wealth beyond anyone’s wildest dreams, of course, that’s if they were able to win in the tournaments of masters. Which he intended to do.

“Welcome tamers to my Airship…” a man said, as he came out of the door of the ship. He had long black hair that was styled into a ponytail, with short dark brown sides. He was wearing a white shirt with a brown vest over it, dark green pants with a dark brown bag around his waist, and brown boots.

“It’s going to take us to the next portion of your monster-taming exam. The field test.”

“The field test?” Lex said, the other tamers looked at Lex, almost wanting to laugh at his ignorance.

“You’ll find out soon enough my dear friend,” the man said, placing a hand on Lex’s shoulder.

He looked at Lex and found his face quite familiar.

The other tamers looked in disbelief, almost shocked as they saw a certain tattoo on his arm.

“The name is Arthur and I’m going to be your next instructor, now shall we?” he said, signaling at them to board the brown airship.

“Is that a –“ one of the tamers said,

“An Ex-Rock Shield guild insignia,” Brent said, his eyes

wide open.

He couldn’t believe that an Ex-Rock shield member was teaching in the association. To think the association not only allowed village fools to take the exam but also allowed members of that traitorous guild to walk their hallways was truly preposterous.

“Well, don’t just stand there unless you guys want to fail your exam already,” Arthur said, laughing as he walked toward the ship.

He was used to their whispers and hesitation upon seeing his guild tattoo, but he didn’t care. He was proud of it and what it represented.

Lex looked at the other tamers and even though he understood somewhat their hesitation since Mr. Wilson told him about what happened with the Rock shield guild, he didn’t have that animosity toward them, after all, his mother used to be in that guild.

***

Arthur entered the ship and waited for the other tamers to join him, counting how long it would take this group, the last one took at least an hour, that he almost disqualified them all for making him wait that long. He looked to see which brave tamer was the first and was surprised to find the blonde kid being the first to walk toward the ship. He looked at the kid, and couldn’t shake a feeling of familiarity toward him.

“where have I seen you before, kid?” he told himself.

The other tamers looked at Lex and began to walk toward the ship as well, not wanting to lose to some village kid.

***

“This is so cool,” Lex said, as he looked down at the garden as the ship went up in the air.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, looking down at the ground as well.

“Look Mirabit is Stonetopolis City,” Lex said, pointing at Stonetopolis City, as the airship flew through the skies of Stonetopolis City.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit nodded,

The other tamers looked at Lex and thought of him as nothing more than some village kid way over his head trying to take the taming exam, and him getting excited about traveling in an airship, something that wasn’t that exciting, only served to reinforce their thoughts.

“Keep it down village boy, “ Brent said, walking passed Lex.

“Sorry,” Lex said, he didn’t want to annoy the other tamers, especially since this was an important exam everyone wanted to pass just like him.

"Is this your first time flying in an airship?” Arthur said, walking toward Lex.

“Y-Yes sir,” Lex said, blushing.

“Is quite the sight isn’t it, no matter how many times I travel on one, I can never get used to the sight.”

“It’s like flying like a monster,” Lex said,

“Yeah, I guess it is,” Arthur said, chuckling. He never thought of it like that, but in a way, he guessed it was.

‘What’s your name?”

“It’s Lex Greyfield. “

“Greyfield?” he said, shocked.

“No, it couldn’t be, could it.”

“Are you related to—” he stopped surprised by the small light grey bunny monster popping its head out of Lex’s leather bag.

“And who is this little guy?” Arthur said

“He’s Mirabit, my partner,” Lex said, there was a hint of pride in his voice.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, smiling.

“He’s quite cute, “ Arthur said, petting him.

“Well, will be arriving soon, so enjoyed the view.”

“Thanks,’ Lex said, as he watched Arthur leave.

‘He seems nice.”

“Of course, some nobody from some simple village would talk to a traitorous guild member no nonchalantly,” Brent said, bumping into Lex’s shoulder,

“Don’t think just cause you get friendly with that traitorous scum you’re going to pass.”

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, stopping on its feet, not liking him one bit.

“Is okay partner, we have an exam to focus on,” Lex said, petting Mirabit’s soft head.

“We can’t let us get distracted by people like him.”

‘We’re here,” Arthur said, as the ship began to descend into a thick vast forest.

“Prepare to land, tamers.”

All the aspiring tamers inside the ship prepared themselves for the next challenge in their journey to become tamers.

“Time for your next challenge,” Arthur said, as the ship landed on the ground.

‘Where are we?” one of the tamers asked, as he looked around, and found nothing but trees.

“You’re in Turtle Mountain forest.”

"Turtle Mountain forest!” another tamer added, shocked at the revelation.

“Is that a good idea, instructor?

“Isn’t this area off-limits by the association?”

“Is it? “ Arthur said, cleaning his ear as if he had not heard him.

“I also heard that monster bandits have appeared along this forest as of late, and are in all the wanted posters in the guilds.”

“I also heard that a monster bandit is calling himself the bandit king.”

The tamers all looked at each other, their hesitation in the open.

“The bandit king?” Lex thought, remembering Mr. Wilson and Julian as they traveled to Stonetopolis City and came in contact with those two figures, wondering if they were related to this bandit king person.

“Don’t worry about that,” Arthur said yawning,

“ This forest is heavily monitored by the association so you guys shall be fine. What you guys should be worrying about is your next challenge. ”

He looked at them, his expression changed, and his brown eyes were serious now.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

“What is our next challenge?” one of the tamers asked, there was no point in worrying about bandits or the bandit king, right now they needed to pass this exam.

“is simple really,” Arthur said, taking a taming crystal from his bag.

“Come out Onape!.”

A large black and gray color ape monster came out. It had a red face with golden-like orbs around its body like a necklace and a sinister expression.

Lex looked at it, it was strangely familiar to him, especially its red face, and white fangs protruding from its mouth.

“Is that an Onape?” one of the tamers asked, stepping back, for he had heard stories about them.

“Is the advanced form of a Ragepanzee.”

‘Ragepanze!” Lex said, remembering the first monster Mirabit and him beat on their journey toward his dream of being a tamer.

“ That’s right, it’s the advanced form of a Ragepanzee,” Arthur said, petting his monster partner.

“They are very territorial, so most tamers don’t tame them since they don’t play nice with other monsters.”

"If our challenge is to beat it up, that won’t be a problem for me and my Lavarok.”

Lex turned around and saw Brent speak up, his face showed a level of confidence that the other tamers couldn’t help but take notice of, after all, everyone knew Lavarok’s were truly powerful monsters. And to think someone who was taking the taming exam had one was truly remarkable.

Brent looked around and felt proud, he was going to be a well-renowned tamer, and they were the first to witness his superior taming skills on his way to becoming the best tamer.

“Oh! A Lavarok, that’s not a bad monster partner,” Arthur said, yawning, unimpressed by Brent’s revelation.

“I’m sure any tamer here would love to have rich parents

pay good money for a powerful monster like that considering they are only found in the lava lakes of the eastern fire kingdom. But can a tamer consider a monster partner they don’t tame on their own, truly his partner? I wonder.”

Arthur looked at Lex and winked at him.

Brent took notice of that gesture and his animosity toward Lex, who he considered nothing more than some village kid, grew even more. Arthur had embarrassed him, the son of the great Merchant Merticuss. He was going to pay dearly, of that he was sure of.

“But the challenge isn’t to beat Onape, I would advise against it. Onapes are very powerful. No, the challenge is….”

Arthur took out five tickets from his pocket letting the light shine on them like pieces of gold.

“These are your tickets back to the ship. And I’m only taking five tamers with me back. The rest of you can take that trail back to Stonetopolis City,” Arthur said, as he pointed toward the dirt road that led down the forest.

“If you take that road it will lead to Stonetopolis City. So you have two options to go back to Stonetopolis City, one is through that road the other is by airship. The choice is yours. ”

Arthur wrapped the tickets around Onape’s large forearms.

“Your challenge is to track Onape, he will hand over a ticket back to the Tamer Association building, the rest can take the trail back down and try next year.”

“Are you sure the association would approve of you leaving beginning tamers to go down the road when there are bandits in this forest,” Brent said, grinning at Arthur. His father was going to hear about this.

“That’s what being a tamer is all about, going into dangerous situations and having no one but your monster partners to rely on.”

Arthur smirked at him.

“But don’t worry, like I said, the forest is heavily monitored by the association so you guys will be fine. And if you want to give up you can always stay here, I’ll make an exception for the kid of the great merchant family, Merticuss.”

“Merticuss!” The tamers around them whispered, surprised by the revelation. After all, the Merticuss family owned the biggest shop in the south, and all the other merchants in the south couldn’t compete with them.

“I’m not scared," Brent said, red-faced,

“Good,” Arthur said,

“Then is settle.”

“ONAPE GO !” Arthur yelled,

“ONA!” Onape growled as it dashed into the forest.

“Well, what are you waiting for, go find your tickets,’ “Arthur said laughing.

***

All the remaining tamers ran along the forest, trying to track down the black ape beast.

Yet, despite its size, the beast had become quite illusive, they found.

Lex walked alongside the forest, turning in every direction, trying to track down the Onape, and his ticket back to the ship. He couldn’t fail here, he needed to pass.

“Can you find him?” Lex said, looking at his monster partner, Mirabit.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, jumping from the leather brown bag and into the ground.

“Mirabit, bit bit,”

It said as it sniffed the air, trying to catch the scent of Onape.

‘Mirabit!” Mirabit said, jumping on the floor, satisfied with himself for having found something.

“Mira, bit, bit.”

“ Did you find him?” Lex said,

Mirabit climbed on Lex’s head, finding itself comfortable on top of his blonde hair.

‘Mirabit,” it said, pointing ahead with its small paws.

“Let’s go get our ticket,’ Lex said, running toward the direction Mirabit was pointing at. This was it. He and Mirabit had gone through quite a battle in getting here, he was going to try his best, and he believed in his partner as well. And if he had to, he would use his gift if it came down to it, he was getting a ticket back from Onape.

***

Arthur sat by his airship and folded his arms, basking in the sunlight, it was a particularly bright afternoon today. He didn’t know if the tamers who had the misfortune of getting him as their field instructor were going to pass, but he figured if they couldn’t it was for the better. Taming wasn’t some kid’s game.

“Greyfield? Huh?” he thought about Lex’s last name,

“I should ask him if he’s related to her.”

He closed his eyes and remembered the blonde girl who beat him in the guild battles, back before the association.

***

"Where is that damned beast," Brent said, kicking a rock as hard as he could, frustrated at the fact that he got unlucky and got Arthur as his field instructor.

“Gremice!,” a grey Gremice shrieked as it jumped out and fled as the rock hit its tail.

“My father would hear about this,” he told himself, ready to use the power of his family.

“Have you two found anything?”

He turned toward the two tamers that were right behind him.

Twin brothers, Rias and Zias, they had grown up with him. Even though they came from peasant families, as he called anyone not richer than him, they were still useful in his journey to become a licensed tamer.

“No, “ Rias said.

He had medium-length green hair that was covering the right side of his face.

“Well what are you waiting for, find him if you want a ticket back to the ship,” Brent said, annoyed with Rias.

“We will don’t worry Brant,’ Zias said.

He looked exactly like Rias except he had red hair that covered the left side of his face.

“I have a plan brother,” Zias said looking at Rias and smiling.

"When I find that dammed monster, I’ll show Arthur just how powerful my Lavarok is,” Brent thought, recalling the embarrassment that Arthur had given him. He was going to make him pay for that.

***

“Where can this monster be hiding,” a lone tamer said to himself, as he walked along Turtle Mountain forest. He had wanted to join forces with other tamers, but since there were only five tickets, they were being very selfish, he thought.

‘Lucky! Me! “ he said, stumbling upon a fellow aspiring tamer.

‘Hey, have you found anything?”

He looked at the tamer he found and couldn’t quite make out their face since they were wearing a cloaked cape that was covering their upper body and their face.

The cloaked tamer looked at the tamer that had stumbled upon them,

“This is not a group project,” he said, leaving the tamer and going on their way.

“So rude.”

“We could have helped each other and gotten a ticket for one another, oh well they're lost.”

***

“Froeater, vine whip,’ the cloaked figure said, and a pair of green vines shot out of its cloak, propelling him toward the top of the tree.

“The air around here is always so refreshing,” the cloaked tamer said, taking his cloak hood off, and revealing a young girl with short

dark green hair.

"Frogy," a frog-like monster came out of her cloak, it had a patch of moss on top of its back where a green plant was sprouting from with sharp teeth.

"Now, where could that Onape be at,” she said,

“Hmmm… that's interesting.”

She noticed a bunch of trees shaking with great force as if a monster was swinging from its vines.

"Let’s go get our ticket, shall we,” she said, smiling at her monster partner, Froeater.

“Frogy,’ froeater said, as it shot vine whips to the next tree, sending both her and itself flying from tree to tree and toward Onape.

***

Lex ran toward where Mirabit was pointing at, he passed a few novice monsters along the way but did not pay much attention to them. He only had one thing on his mind and that was to pass this exam for his dream of being a monster tamer depending on it.

‘"Are you sure this is going to work, brother,” Rias said, taking a seat on a rock, and folding his arms.

“Trust me, brother,” Zias said,

“Use your Mushugly to attract him with a sweet aroma, and I’ll use Pulpee’s sticky honey to trap the Onape and then Brent will beat him up using his Lavarok. It’s a foolproof plan. ”

“I guess,” Rias said, even though he was sure Lavarok was a powerful monster, he wasn’t so sure Brent could control it. But he would never dare say that to Brent.

But he was anxious about it, Onape was an enhanced-level monster and it looked quite strong. If they fail, they will have to retake the test next year, and that was something he was sure Brent would not be too happy about.

“We don’t have anything else, if we just keep trying to track him, someone might beat us to him, brother,” Zias, said.

Rias looked at Zias, he was right, this was as good a plan they had.

Brent looked at his crystal of tame, which allows tamers to tame the monsters in Monsterra. It had a vibrant red color to it that seemed to shine as the light from the sun hit it.

“Don’t disappoint me, my dad paid good money for you,” he said to the crystal.

He was going to be a monster tamer no matter what. He was going to buy as many tamer crystals as he could and collect the most powerful monsters and have the most powerful collection of monsters in all of Monsterra. And who knows, maybe the great director of the association, , might even give him a job at the association. Which he would use to bring some nobility to the association. Bringing his family name to the next level.

***

“Is it here, Mirabit?” Lex said, as he was coming toward a group of trees that seemed to be hiding something beyond it.

“Mirabit Mirabit,” Mirabit said, feeling comfortable that the smell was this way.

Lex ran as fast as he could, coming into view of three tamers, who were standing as if they were waiting for someone.

‘What is this?’ he said, as he looked down at his feet,

trying to move them, but they would not budge for he had stepped on a thick yellow substance of sorts.

“What are you doing here village boy?’ Brent said,

“He’s coming, brother,” Zias said, as the leaves from the trees were falling to the ground as if something was shaking them.

“I don’t have time to deal with you village boy, just sit still and watch what a real tamer looks like,” Brent said, gripping his red color taming crystal.

“RAAAARRRRG!’

They all heard a loud growl as whatever was coming their way was getting closer to them now.

***

Onape jumped out of the trees, landing on the ground, being enticed by the sweet aroma.

“H-He’s more menacing up close, brother,” Rias said, not helping himself from shaking. This was an enhanced-level monster after all. But it was fine, all they had to do was take the tickets from its thick forearms. They didn’t need to beat it.

“Let’s do this !” Brent said.

He threw his monster crystal in the air, and a red light shot from it.

A monster made of rock and lava descendent from the sky.

‘LAVAROOK!” the monster growled.

“What monster is that?’ Lex asked, it looked strong to him.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, in a nervous tone.

“Everyone stand back and watch the strength of a real monster partner. Not even this Onape stands a chance,” Brent said, feeling confident that he would be victorious.

“Of course, Brent,” Rias said, standing back nervously.

"You got this Brent,’ Zias said, following his brother.

“Lavarok! Fire Fist!” Brent commanded.

Both Lex, Rias, and Zias looked in disbelief as Lavarok stood still, disobeying Brent’s command.

“What are you doing you beast, attack!” Brent said, feeling frustrated and embarrassed.

Yet Lavarok ignored its tamer's command.

“ Can a tamer consider a monster partner they didn’t tame on their own, truly his partner,” Lex thought about Arthur’s words as he looked at Lavarok ignoring Brent’s commands.

Onape looked at the lava monster confused, and in anger, for it found itself being challenged by it, and it didn’t like that one bit.

“Mirabit, help me get out of here,” Lex said,

“Mirabit,” Mirabit jumped from Lex’s head and began to slash the yellow sticky substance with its horn, slashing it apart.

“ONAPE!!” Onape let out a fearsome growled, as it accepted Lavarok’s challenge.

“LVAROK!’ Lavarok yelled back, not standing down against Onape.

***

“So this is where it was heading to,” the green-haired girl said, looking down from the tree branch she was sitting on, and watching Onape and Lavarok about to fight each other.

She glanced at Brent and pitied him.

This was a monster wealth could not teach you how to tame. But what caught her attention was Lex,

remembering him from Turtle Trail.

“I shall keep my distance,” she said, not wanting to interfere. She would buy her time and get one of the tickets as soon as she found an opening, and be on her way.

***

“Almost free,” Lex said, as Mirabit finished slashing away most of the yellow jelly-like substance that had trapped him, rendering him immobilized.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, slashing the last piece of jelly stuck on Lex's feet.

“Thanks, partner,” Lex said, petting Mirabit.

Mirabit,’ Mirabit said smiling at his partner.

‘Don’t interfere! Lavarok will deal with Onape,” Brent said, looking at Lex as he was freed from Pulpee’s honey jelly.

“Watch and learn how a real tamer does it.”

"I don’t think that monster is listening to Brent,” Lex said as he watched Lavarok shoot balls of fire at Onape. He also noticed that other monsters had gathered around the area, standing by the outskirts of the bushes.

“Mirabit,” Mirabit said, noticing the sweet aroma. Lex grabbed Mirabit before it dashed toward where Rias and Zias were. Remembering Mirabit’s love for bread.

Lex sniffed the air, noticing the delicious smell.

“Stop! The sweet smell!” Lex yelled at Rias and Zias.

"W-What!’ Rias said, noticing the monsters around them.

“Oh yea, return Mushugly.”

They didn’t need other monsters getting in the way.

***

“Not good,’ the green-haired girl said, as she watched from the tree branch, ready to interfere if things got out of hand, especially since some monsters were forming around the area now.

***

Arthur opened one of his eyes and saw smoke coming out of the forest,

“Brent,” he thought, letting out a sigh.

***

LAVAROK!” Lavarok was growing more impatient as Onape was

hitting the fireballs he was throwing at him with ease to the side.

“LAVAROK! HURRY UP AND DEAL WITH ONAPE!” Brent yelled, even though the lava monster wasn’t obeying his command, it didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was defeating it and getting a ticket of his own.

"LAVA!” Lavarok said, bringing his arms together and creating a spark of fire to gather in his arms,

“Brent..” Rias said, nervously.

“Is this a good idea, Lavarok is a fire type and this is a forest—”

“Shut it! I’m getting that ticket no matter want and if you want one keep quiet!”

“LAVAROK!” Lavarok yelled as it shot a massive fireball at Onape.

“RARRRW!!!” Onape said, slamming the fireball to the said, its gaze had intensified against Lavarok.

Lex saw the fireball going straight to a group of monsters and dashed toward them, getting in front of the fireball.

“Mirabit horn bullet!” he said, meeting the fireball straight ahead. The only thing in his mind was making sure the monsters didn’t get hurt because of Brent’s carelessness.

“Good safe kid,” the green hair girl said, jumping down the tree,

“Froeater, vine whip.”

A group of vine whips combined with Mirabit’s horn bullets met the fireballs that were thrown to the side, stopping them from hitting the monsters that remained.

"T-Thanks,” Lex said looking at the green-haired girl who helped him.

“Now is not the time to celebrate, look.”

Lex turned toward Lavarok and Onape and saw another giant fireball coming Onape’s way.

Onape looked at the fireball and brought its fists together, creating a tornado-like attack that met the fireball.

“Not good,” the green-haired girl said,

***

Arthur saw a tornado of fire appear from the forest that shot out into the sky.

“Well this is not good,” he said, getting up from his chair.

“Ravorse! Come out!.”

A large dark half-bird and half-beast appeared from the sky.

“let’s go see what these aspiring tamers have recklessly gotten into.”

***

“This is not good,” the green-haired girl said,

“That tornado is going to burn the forest down if we don’t stop it.”

“You’re right,” Lex said, ignoring the fact that the green-haired girl was strangely familiar to him, recalling the person in Turtle Trail. But Right now was not the time for that, they needed to do something about the fire tornado that had formed from Lavarok’s and Onape’s attack.

“You rich brat call back the Lavarok before it does any more damage,” she said, looking at the frightening kid standing still,

“Y-Yea,” Brent said, not believing that he was close to failing. His father’s words filling his mind,

“Don’t fail me. I pay good money for that monster.”

‘Lavarok come back,” he said, and the Lavarok monster went back to the red crystal.

“Onape,” Onape said, dashing toward the green hair girl and cuddling against her face,

“Now is not the time Onape,” she said, as they watched the fire tornado gaining in size.

“We have to do something about the tornado.”

"Right..” Lex said, grabbing his hand, he needed to do something fast, he and Mirabit’s combined attack should be able to stop the tornado, he hoped. And as he pulled his hand, he could feel the wind around him gather.

The green hair noticed small particles of light begin to gather around Lex, which she found strange, and the next thing she saw was Mirabit getting on top of Lex’s head.

“Mirabit horn bullet—”

“WAIT!” she said, stopping Lex,

“A wind attack is only going to amplify it, since wind attacks have synergy with fire.”

‘Synergy?” Lex said, confused by her words,

“We need either a water attack or an earth one to put the fire out.”

“The little lady is right.”

They all looked up and saw a large dark bird and beast monster coming down from the sky,

“Instructor Arthur!” they said.

“Well, this is a surprise,” Arthur said, as he saw the green-haired girl.

‘Does Rose know you’re here,” he said, raising an eyebrow,

“I think we have bigger things to worry about right now,” she said, pointing at the fire tornado,

“You’re right,” he said,

“How did this happen?”

They all glanced at Brent.

“I-Is not my fault that Lavarok is a powerful monster,”

he said, sweat dripping from his forehead.

“Ravorse wind cyclone,” he commanded and the monster flapped its wings creating a powerful force of wind that sent the fire tornado into the air, fizzling out.

“I thought wind attacks wouldn’t work?” Lex said,

"Normally they wouldn’t be against a fire move because of synergy, but if the attack is strong enough it can overpower the other element.”

“I see,” Lex said, recalling how he had overpowered the shadow figure’s attack at the research building.

“Everyone get back to the ship—”

"What about the exam?” Brent said,

Arthur looked at him, he didn’t want to deal with the association, as well as the Merticuss family.

“I’m feeling generous so everyone passes to the next stage and the final stage of the exam. “

“Yes, brother! “ Rias said,

“Nice brother,” Zias said,

“Whatever, let’s head back,” Brent said, walking back to the ship.

“You hear that Mirabit, we did it,” Lex said,

“Mirabit!” Mirabit said,

‘Works for me,” the green hair girl said,

And as Lex and the green hair girl were about to walk back to the ship,

“Wait you two,” Arthur called them,

“Serves them right,” Brent said, looking back at them,

"Hopefully, they failed for trying to interfere.”

He laughed as his mood had improved.

“Congratulations you two have passed the Monster taming Exam.”

Arthur said, placing his hand on their shoulder.

“Excuse me, sir?” Lex said, confused at his words. The green-haired girl raised an eyebrow,

“Arthur are you okay?” she said.

“I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m just impressed by your actions of trying to protect the monsters from the fireballs and I deemed you guys taming material.”

“Can you even do that,” the green-haired girl asked,

“Yup,” Arthur said, smiling,

“We have instructor discretion to pass any tamer we like.”

“U-um,” Lex said,

“I don’t get it?”

“it means we don’t have to take the other exam stage, we passed.”

“Let’s head back to the association building and get you two your tamer license.”

Lex looked at Mirabit, and even though they didn’t quite get it, it didn’t matter, they were finally Monster Tamers.

“WE DID IT!” Lex said, jumping in the air with excitement, for he had finally achieved his goal of being an official tamer, like his mother.
