Moniker's Mana
Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Elizabeth was startled by the message. She quickly sent a message back. The message read:

[What? Who?]

There was no response. The now suspicious Moniker drew his blades. Elizabeth was full of fear. She toughed it out to continue on.

"H-hey! If you follow our orders, we will protect from the king and his people."

Moniker slowly flew over to her as imposing as ever with a monstrous golden and silver aura around him. Elizabeth panicked some more but continued on.

"T-the king wants you dead! He wants all elves dead.! He doesn't care that you're a sky elf! He killed them all! It was just a mass genocide..."

Moniker was now right in front of her. Elizabeth was terrified. She was stumbling over her words in fear.

"P-please..."

Now that he was closer, she could see the look in his eye. It was a merciless look seething with rage. Despite that, his movements were calm and precise. He took his daggers and put both in front of and behind her neck. A look of despair and tears filled her eyes as she gazed upwards at him.

Suddenly there was a loud shockwave that could be heard throughout the dome. Moniker looked over immediately. Elizabeth eventually gained the courage to open her eyes. The once magnificent barrier was no longer there and a dark figure, who was seemingly bringing all of the shadows in the world behind him, was approaching slowly until...

"...Hey, Moniker. I got it from here."

A dark and dreary voice spoke as if playing a game.

"Don't worry Miss, I don't bite."

Dracula was now a few meters away, lying through his fangs. Moniker's eyes seemed to relax for now. Elizabeth had all but lost hope and was now petrified. Moniker moved his daggers away and backed off from Elizabeth. Dracula then approached her and hit her in the back of her neck. She lost consciousness and fell only to be caught by Dracula. Dracula then gently put her on the ground. He swept the hair that was in her face back behind her head. He spoke again.

"Follow me. We have something that we need to talk about."

Moniker was confused as he couldn't figure out what he was talking about. Moniker flew over to Dracula and hovered by his side. The sun was now going down. Dracula spoke first.

"I'm going, to be honest... I sensed divinity within you from the start. The only way I could sense divinity... is if I have divinity. Your a God aren't you? You're not some half-blood God either. You're the real deal."

Moniker was still confused and his speech gave him away.

"...God?"

Dracula responded again with an explanation.

"Would you believe me if I told you that I was once human? Well... in any case, I think it's time I tell you a story."

The top half of the sun was the only thing left above the horizon. Dracula continued on while Moniker was in awe.

"Once upon a time there was a king... in a losing war. He was outmanned, outmaneuvered, and outsmarted with no chance of winning the war. That king was told a rumor by his most trusted noble. The rumor detailed an evil power in a faraway cave. The king heard the rumor as a chance... and not as a warning. That king searched for and found the cave alone. He would do anything for his kingdom, including sacrificing his life. The king went into the cave. Do you know what he found? A dying vampire. It was actually the first vampire. He was a demigod born from a human and the moon God. The dying vampire attacked the king. However, the king was quite strong for a human and he survived everything he threw at him. The dying vampire could no longer stand. He laid on the cold ground and beckoned the king to come closer. The vampire used his hand as a blade and cut his own arm. He filled a glass with his own blood and told the king to drink it. The king desperate for power, could not decline. The king began a harrowing transformation right in front of the vampire. The king turned into a vampire right before the original died and inherited his powers as well as his divinity. You probably already figured this out, but that king was me and it was over 150 years ago."
