Chapter 9

Kevin

I opened my eyes to a pair of fair legs. A little up I could see a white, slender hand tightly holding another strong arm.

I hiccuped and tilted my head to see the familiar dark curls flowing down beside the familiar beautiful face.

"What are you doing here?"

"Get up fast, will you." She spat back making me feel silly.

I got up from the ground wiping my eyes when I heard a snap followed by the painful wailing of the guy trying to hit me.

"Did you just broke his wrist?" Before I could inspect anything she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the club.

She jerked my hand go and looked at me sternly. "You really are an idiot, aren't you? Don't you have any shame? I understand that you can be weak physically but not even trying to defend yourself is just ridiculous."

Her dark brown orbs bored into my light ones with anger and I couldn't withstand looking at them anymore.

"Talking sense to you is useless isn't it? You will just remain the weakling that you are, not being able to speak for yourself."

"I am not a weakling, okay!" I snapped back at her. "I loved her." Tears made their way back to my eyes. "You don't know how it feels to be cheated."

I squat down and without giving a damn to the passer-byes started bowling my eyes out.

"Why did she do that to me? I loved her so much then why did I deserved this humiliation? Aaaaaa..."

For a minute when I didn't hear her say anything I thought she has left. I lift my head to meet a person who covered her mouth with her hand and her body was shaking uncontrollably. No way! She was laughing! I have poured my heart out here and she stood here laughing, right in front of me.

"You think all this is funny? How dare you laugh at my sorrow? Oh, I hate you so much." I stand up and started walking.

"Hey wait!" She closed the distance between us. "You don't think it's funny? You were crying like a baby who was denied a candy. Hahaha..."

"It's not funny you know. I was heartbroken when she told me that she was only with me because of my parent's money and nothing else." I slowed my pace to match hers.

"I can understand but it can't be just her fault though. It's yours too for being so nice to her and letting her use you as she likes. You were an idiot to trust her with anything."

"I know. I am an idiot. I saw but avoided this side of her."

She didn't speak anymore and we walked in silence. It was going to take a while to reach home but I liked this. The silence gave me some time to organize my thoughts.

I stole a glance at her. Somewhere on the way she has taken off her heels and held them in her hand. Her dark, soft curls bounced as she walked with a smile on her face.

This can actually be counted as the first time we have had a decent talk in these few days. All I had ever seen was her covered in bruises but not today. Maybe she is not as dangerous as I had thought, that smile definitely can't be of a bad person.

We were closer to home now and I was getting uncomfortable with this lingering silence. "You look nice in this dress." I slapped myself internally. What was I thinking? Did I had a death wish?

To my surprise though she wasn't angry this time but rather smiled and told, "Thanks."

"We... um... we haven't introduced ourselves before." I stretched my hand towards her, "My name is Kevin."

"I am Mona."
