Chapter 4 of Modern-Fantasy World
I sighed as I slumped down into my bed at the inn. I looked at the scratch on my knee and inspected it for a while. It didn’t seem like one of those that hurt for days. I stood up and walked outside of my room. When I’m in the corridor I heard metal clanks and I Iooked to my right and see a Guard with his iron armor. He grabbed my arm and dragged me off before telling me anything.
“What was that for?!?!” I screamed at him since he almost dislocated my arm and shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Miss. The King has some business with you and you need to come soon,” He continued as I stared at him trying to have an intense pressure but it didn’t give off that way, “It’s about the War. The King told me to tell you this.”
He finished that sentence and he brought out a massive scroll that was being kept inside of his armor. It seemed old but I assume because of this ‘Fantasy’ world thing. I sighed at the lack of… White beautiful paper. He handed it over towards me and which I picked up and put it towards my eyes.
‘Dear Emily, As I’m sure as you’re told this is about the upcoming War with the Humans, Vampires, and Nymphs. We do need a mage commander and you’ll be just fine to fit in that position, kuku! Anyways if you’re thinking I only have [Mana Bolt] and [Mana Ball]... You’re right, hahaha! I’m sure at least you’ll be a decent commander for the Mage Squadron. However, this is only for the next week. Sincerely Yours The King.’
He even added in his laughs?! What a weirdo! I kept awkwardly staring at it with tears. Why do I have to be a commander?! I’m not a person to lead anybody! How dare that man! I’ll get myself killed! I screamed in my head many times before I let it out of my system. I looked back up the armored man and he was looking down at the whole time.
“U-um… Did I do something wrong, Miss?” He asked as I still stared into his eyes…
“WHY DID THAT KING DO THAT?!” I hit the chest of the armored man multiple times but it didn’t do a single thing.
“U-um! I-i-I’m sure… it’s not the King’s Fault! H-he just wants to save this Kingdom! That’s it.” He said and muttered the last bit. It sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself!
I sighed and realized and how immature I was being. I look around once more and notice I’m in a carriage with leather seating and the sun was scorching me. I wonder where we’re going to go? I kept thinking that as my life was draining rapidly by this sunlight.
“W-we’re almost there, Miss!” He yelled from the front of the carriage and which I could clearly hear y’know.
I looked around to see the forest of purple leaves again. Oh no, are they abandoning me?! Uuuh! Don’t piss me off or you’re getting a beating iron suited armor man! I digress. Anyways in this purple leaved forest, I saw nothing was around. Nothing like a small animal to a big animal. I kept looking right and left for these small people and nothing was to be found once again. The suited iron man looked back at me and noticed I was looking around.
“O-oh, Miss! I-i-I notice that you’re thinking about the animals, r...right?!” He asked questioningly as I nodded my head many times to ooze out the answer of this iron man fellow.
“W-w-well if you’re thinking about um… The animals! Yeah, the animals they haven’t been around lately… I-it’s been so weird lately,” He continued as I leaned my head in to listen for this information, “I-it seems like there was a monster attacking people…! M-m-many of these people died… Animals too!” He continued on as I thought about the situation… Wait why were we in here in the first place if there was a monster attacking and killing all the others?! Doesn’t that seem dangerous!
“Why…! Isn’t it supposed to be heavily Guarded if we’re to go out here?!” I almost half-yelled at him and he whimpered and looked back at me with some puppy dog eyes. I sighed and lowered my aggressive tone and waited for an answer.
“W-well, Miss... Y-you’re powerful, right?! T-t-the king told me you’d kill that monster with just one punch or one spell!” He said confidently in my abilities. I slumped down into the leather seat and groaned as I stretched my face.
Why did that King tell him? I’m not really confident in my abilities and I’m just learning. I continued to gaze around the forest and be on guard just in case of that Monster lurking around. Hopefully, there isn’t a case where I die… I’ve gotten myself into many different situations and this won’t be one! I convinced myself as I still looked around. I eased up a bit after and looked forward and talked to the Guard that was directing the Carriage.

“Where are going, um…” I asked and stopped because I didn’t know this man’s name.
“Jack! M-my name is Jack, Miss,” He responded as I thought about that name… Interesting name huh, “W-where we’re going is to… To the Central Headquarters of the Mage Guild!” He said with pride and frankly, I was impressed by this.
“Mage Guild…? Is there different Guilds, Jack?” I asked and he seemed to have a thinking pose.
“Mmm. Yes, there is, Miss,” He continued without stuttering, “Besides the Adventurers Guild you’re registered in and besides the Mage Guild there are many Guilds. For example something like the thieves guild. Of course, not many enter this guild. This is only for treasure hunting.” He said and his face changed from thinking to a face of fear. He looked at me and bowed many times saying ‘I-I’m sorry, Miss for being too polite!’ or something like that. Why did he want to be stuttering? I told him to keep it that way but unfortunately, he didn’t.
“Jack, what are you apart of? I can see you have a dragon symbol on your leg.” I said and he looked down at his leg and it had the dragon symbol I noticed earlier. He sighed and looked at me before answering.
“I-it’s the Royal Guard Guild. I-it was made by the Union in order to prevent tribes from hurting the reputation or the Kingdom.” He told me as I asked about the tribes. However, he only responded with ‘T-t-that’s classified… E-even for Miss you can’t know that…’
*WOOFH*
I heard a large noise and I tilted my head to the side and gazed towards the direction. A thick tree falling with purple leaves falling all over the carriage. I yelled out to Jack and he looked back at me and the tree and his face contorted in fear as he fled the scene. I tried getting out but it was too late as the tree fell over me. I was half-way out of the way… Albeit my foot was in the way and it got crushed. I let out a yelp of pain and looked for Jack for help. He was hiding behind a tree and he ran towards me and panicked and checked his pockets for something.
“Shit...Shit! I-I-I don’t have anything healing potions! I’m sorry, Miss…!” He looked at me as I tried pulling my foot away from the tree but it was stuck. I kept yelling in pain every time it moved slightly. I needed to get this out no matter what. I heard the rustling of leaves from where the tree fell and I looked over. It… It was the Monster that appeared in front of me days ago…? I tried to get my foot unstuck and I told Jack where this ‘Monster’ was. He unsheathed the sword from his waist and held it in a stance.
The Monster came slowly but was coming faster with each step. Jack got impatient with this due to fear and ran towards it. Unfortunately for Jack he got hit in the stomach and got his back slammed against the tree and the whites of his eyes were showing. I saw the Monster take sight of me and come closer with each second. It felt like hours every step it took as I tried yanking out my foot. I tried over and over again but… Suddenly, I felt a BONK against my head and I could feel myself faint… O...Oh...n...o! I screamed in my mind as I felt myself succumb to the pitch-black abyss.
“AHHH!” I woke up and looked around to see where I was… Wooden floor? Walls? Where am I? I don’t understand…
“Dear me! You’re awake?” I heard a voice coming from and tapping against from what I would assume is stairs. Suddenly, the door opened and there was an Old Lady. She had grey hairs all over her and wrinkles. I backed up from the bed I was on and it was comfy but nevertheless, I backed up against the wall. I watched her move slowly and she quickly came over to me and put her hand on my head.
“What did you do to Jack?!” I struggled against her and tried to break free from her strong grip but it was a failed attempt. She giggled and looked at me and started petting my head. I unconsciously nodded in satisfaction and she giggled some more and set me on the bed. I suddenly felt the pain come in from my foot and I looked at it and it was bandaged? How did I even get to the wall? I’m not going to question it…
“If you’re talking about that man… Unfortunately, he went to the white clouds and the gate.” She said and looked through the closest glass window.
“Um… What am I doing here?” I asked and looked at her and she laughed and responded with multiple things.
“You were hurt so I took you here. I’m sorry for what has happened to you, Little One.” She said as she took hold of me and started petting me again. However, to my dismay, I made a weird noise.
“Uuuuu…” I suddenly covered my mouth and she giggled once again and I could feel my face heat up. Stop petting me, you old lady! Face the wrath of me! I tried punching her in the stomach but it ended up just a weak blow and she laughed and walked through a door and I could hear the tapping sounds once again.
After a tiny bit of hearing a pot and steam, I heard the tapping sounds once again and the door opened again. This old lady had some tea on a tray in her hands and she brought it over towards me. She placed it on the desk beside me. She then sat on the bed next to me and looked at me with her yellowish-orange eyes.
“You remind me so much of my granddaughter,” She looked at me and she had a tear going down her cheek but she swiped it away, “What’s your name, Dear?” She asked and I responded with the name I came up with the day I ‘woke’ up.
“Would you mind telling me what happened to make you this hurt, Emily? In exchange, I’ll tell you what has happened during my lifetime. Fufufu!” She laughed a creepy laugh but I responded with what happened nevertheless.
“Oh no… Timmy did it again! How dare he…!” She got up but I heard a crack and she yelped in pain before she sat back down.
“Who’s Timmy?” I asked before she looked at me with her fierce gaze.
“I guess I’ll start from the beginning, Dear.” I frowned that she said Dear again but I put my ears on her and listened.
“Well, it all started when I was going to become a beast tamer…” She continued as I listened.
