Meeting of the King - Chapter 3

Meeting of the King - Chapter 3

"So do you agree... Emily?" The middle-aged man in front of me asked.

"No, I don't agree," I responded to this grey-haired chubster individual.

"I'm sorry but you didn't have a right to say anything either way." He responded and I sighed and thought about how I got to this jail-like place.

...

...

...

"DO YOU KNOW WHERE THAT LITTLE KID IS?!" I heard screaming and I woke up rubbing my eyes and my door was kicked open in front of my eyes.

Many people with iron armor were right in front of me and they had the Phoenix symbol on their chest. They ran up to me and grabbed my arm as I struggled but I couldn't defeat their strength. I was thrown over their shoulder and was being brought somewhere. Confused by this I tried looking around to see myself in front of a jail cell or so it seemed anyway. I tried screaming for help multiple times but there were only guards around me and they seemed used to this. I resigned to my fate as they threw me into the cell.

"You'll be executed later tomorrow." Said a person standing in front of my cell. I panicked inside my head and thought about how I was going to get out of this situation by any means. However, I'm sure these Guards have nightshifts and dayshifts so I won't be able to get anywhere.

I hung my head in defeat while I thought about my circumstances. As many hours passed by I heard several clanking noises and people coming down. I looked up that direction and saw a person wearing a crown with some grey hair coming out of it. He was on the extreme side of being chubby and as he laid eyes on me he laughed a creepy old man laugh. Am I going to be a slave?! I kept thinking that as a Guard came up to the cell and opened up the door.

"Tch. You're lucky that you got out of your death sentence," He clicked his tongue and said that as I panicked as the guy was entering, "You'll now talk to the King, girl."

The 'King' entered the cell and looked at me from head to toe before saying anything.

"*Ahem* Sorry, little girl. May I know your name and circumstances?" He asked me and I almost spit on him in disgust because he laughed that creepy laugh again.

"Emily," I responded and he nodded satisfied enough by my name.

I stared at him trying to be intense and make him give up but I think it gave him the wrong idea and he continued on talking to me. He eventually just stared at me and asked something that I didn't understand.

"Are you human, Emily?" He put his hand against his grey beard and rubbed it. I said 'Of course.' However, I remembered the 'Blessings' that I got earlier two days ago. I sighed inwardly and hoped he wouldn't figure about my circumstances even if it's impossible either way.

"Alright... You seem to have a good mana source. Albeit I do want to ask... Can you join us, Emily?" He asked and I tilted my head in confusion to his question. He laughed a bit before answering my questioning head.

"I assume you wouldn't understand since it hasn't spread around... Can you help us against the Nymphs and Vampires? They seem to be fighting at the moment," He continued as I already decided on my answer, "And the humans have been caught up within it. Can you please help us, Emily? You'd be a hero."

We awkwardly stared at each other for what seemed like 10 minutes before I heard some more clanking. I heard 'Listen to the King and give him a Yes!' Guards yelled at me. However, I knew I was going to say No.

"So do you agree... Emily?" The King in front of me asked.

"No, I don't agree," I responded honestly to him.

"I'm sorry but you didn't have a right to say anything either way." He responded and I sighed and thought about what would happen if I were to partake in this war.

"Why should I? I'm weak and you should know that. I don't have guts to kill." I responded and he laughed cheerfully which pissed me off but I knew I couldn't attack the King since my leather armor and Knife got taken away.

"You seem to be awfully mature for your appearance. Are you sure you're a Human, Emily?" He asked once again and I replied 'Yes' since I already dug myself in a deep enough hole I can't get out of.

"Anyways, I'm going to have YOU trained. I assume you know where this is if you live around here and know the Union," He said as I thought about the Union...? This is so confusing, "Dark Royal Academy. There you will learn how to use Mana. Albeit if you're useless in terms of elements we'll scrap you along with many other students. I'm sure you know what that means, Emily." He said in a threatening tone which made me shiver against the cold stone wall I was against.

"I'll have you sent there immediately, Emily. So long my faithful mage..." He said as he walked away while I was left to think about what just happened and what will happen to me in the future. I sighed and thought about being a mage and breaking out of that 'Academy.'

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Leaving me to my thoughts for a good couple hours the Guards eventually came back in and opened the cell door. They told me to get out and which I did and I got outside to see the glorious sunlight again. As I looked where to they were dragging me there was a carriage. Just a pure black carriage with two black horses pulling it. I wondered if this was called fancy in this world.

I hopped on because I was getting watched by many Guards and slid over to the middle. I could feel the chair I was sitting in sink in along with my body as I slumped down and tried sleeping as I was filled with delight. I could feel my eyes going back to their natural heavy state like last night and feel them close every so slightly...

"&^%^&!" I heard yelling... "WAKE UP!"

"OW!" I was kicked in my stomach and felt my stomach churning and I clutched my stomach and watched the killer of stomachs. This man had a tuxedo and had brown hair with bright blue eyes while looking at me. Curse you, Tuexdo Man! I cursed him many times in my head until I felt better.

"I heard you're the one to be joining in the War so early, Emily. That's very surprising for a kid like your age." He said as I stopped looking at him and looked towards the ground.

"It's not like I got forced to or anything..." I muttered as I felt my stomach churn slightly still. He tried asking what was wrong but I quickly dismissed him as we already were at the school and I wanted to go in.

I looked at the 'Dark Royal Academy' and was amazed. It had many castle-like characteristics. Well... Actually, it was basically a castle just some black bits here and there. It had 'Royal' in its name so it was probably like one of those 'Noble' schools I heard Alexis talk about while we were on the journey to this Kingdom. I sighed and walked through the gate and I was directed to a classroom almost immediately without hesitation.

I walked in was guided to a sit and apparently, I had to wait until the teacher came in. Many people came in with their fancy attire until a person with some documents in their hand walked in. He took a good look at all of us and his gaze slowly shifted upon me. I looked back at him and he nodded satisfied and introduced himself.

"I'm Theo Sermaps. I'll be teaching you today in this classroom and I hope you'll be satisfied with my teaching of Mana. Some of you may only have this class while some others may have more. If you don't get an element from this crystal ball you'll be exiled to the Demon continent," Many people gasped and some shivered in fear while I sat confused by what he said, "Anyways will you kids come up here and test your element?" He asked and some just sat there in fear. He revealed a Crystal Ball from a pure white cloth and put the Crystal Ball on the wooden table of his.

"Alyssa Squish..." He called names repeatedly as it got closer and closer to my name. When he finally got to my name he called me up and I sat up from my stool I was sitting on and went towards him.

He smiled and looked up to me and I looked at the Crystal Ball of Magic... Huh... I put my hand on it and it immediately flashed many colors before it stopped. Suddenly, the blue screen popped in front of my face.

You've found out your Affinity to those following Elements;

Demon Magic, Vampire Magic, and Water!

I looked at my Affinities and looked at the teacher he gave me a nod as I sat back down. Demon? Vampire? Water? Are those things even elements? This just confuses me so much... I banged my head against the wooden desk in front of me slowly and silently. Eventually, after testing everyone he gets onto the testing portion which I 'Yippe!' in my mind.

"Imagine power going through your veins of your body," He looked at all of us then looked at one of his veins sticking out, "Coursing through the vein and imagine the power of what you want... For example a mana ball." He said as a pure blue ball formed above his right hand. I look at the ball and I was extremely excited by this.

"Now this is something that you don't have to use a chant for. Keep in mind if you lose a single sentence of this chant you could potentially blow yourself up along with some other people." He said reassuring the people to make sure they're on track. Chanting...! Noooo! I forgot all about this from Alexis...!

"Mainly when your element is something like, Fire for example. You can control fire if you put all of your mana inside of it. Of course, you don't have full access to it," He said as I watched and this was something actually worth learning unlike back earlier in my life, "You can also use the Magic spell [Combine] to combine spells. These usually only work on small spells but in some instances, it could work if you have enough mana to supply it." He continued as I listened for a whole while until he said 'Class Dismissed.'

I was led outside by the Guards and after a while, I finally got back to the Adventurers Guild. I went inside and saw the blonde beauty Alexis I was longing for! Well besides these men drinking at the table it seems pretty nice in here. I walked up as she saw me and she called out to me and I ran up to the counter like one of those romance dramas! Of course, that didn't happen. I just walked up to her and called her name and snapped my fingers while she was reading some documents.

"Ah! I'm sorry... Emily! Oh Hello. I'm sorry about that!" She aplogized a few times and I looked at the quest board of horror. I do need to do this or I'll be broke by tomorrow since a day is around 20 copper for 1 day at the inn.

After talking with Alexis I walked up to the board and saw what was needed today.

Demonic Wolves

These wolves fangs can provide 78 copper coins. If you can kill at least 20 of these wolves at the South West side of the Kingdom you will gain 1 Gold Coin along with 70 copper coins for completing this quest.

I looked at this quest and I was interested since I learned the spells; [Mana Bolt] Which is basically a lightning bolt out of Mana. [Mana Ball] Damage varies depending on the amount of mana put in and how much brute strength was in it. I was extremely happy to learn these new spells and able to use them. (If you're asking why is she going to kill more monsters after a traumatizing experience...?! It's money! She needs money, okay?)

...

...

...

I was slowly traveling throughout this forest to find these Demonic Wolves and to kill them. I looked right and left constantly to make sure these Demonic Wolves weren't prowling right behind me. These thick trees filled with purple leaves make me pressured since I think it's behind me every time... I continued on forwards and heard sudden growling and I look to my side.

GRRRRRR...

I quickly turn to my side with my knife and look where the growl came from. It came from this huge grey wolf with red eyes beaming from the shadows. I instantly took control of the situation and fire a [Mana Bolt] towards it side. It went off course but it hit its foot and it whimpered and pain and almost fell over but stood still.

I tried firing another [Mana Bolt] towards it. Albeit it dodged and I was out of mana considering how much mana I put in each one. I tried waiting for it to get close but it waited for me. I ran towards it out of peer pressure and got headbutt into the stomach as I coughed out some blue liquid out of my mouth. I stood up quickly not giving it a chance to tackle me and played the waiting game with it.

It gave in and it charged after me. Unable to dodge it I took it as I coughed more blue liquid and I repeatedly stabbed the knife in the wolf's side until I fell off it. The knife was stuck inside the wolf and the wolf fell over bleeding out while I had some blue liquid coming out of my coughing mouth. I didn't bother to question what it was and limped over to where the wolf was. I took out the knife and stabbed it repeatedly until the breathing wolf wasn't anymore. I fell over against a tree and looked around.

My breathing was very ragged as my adrenaline was wearing out and the pain was starting to quick in. I groan as the pain grew but eventually subsided after a while. However, just as I was thinking that I saw a huge thing come into view. Tall and wide with its green skin and fangs sticking out. I was very scared since I was still in pain and couldn't run but just limp. How did such a big thing come here so quietly? Or was it my ears ringing keeping me from hearing it?

My eyes closed I tried opening them but they failed to open as I thought about my death and how I am going to die here. I sighed inwardly and drifted off into the cloudy dreamland... However, that didn't happen. When I woke up nothing was there except for the corpse of the Demonic Wolf. I took the fangs and fur and hurried back to the Kingdom wondering what happened back there.
