Adventure 1: Chapter 2 - Ruins, Vampire Mother and Power Up

What to do:- reach the peak of that big-ass mountain;

- get there without dying;

- explore the ruins I saw on my way[/tds2]

My thoughts:This is getting better and better!

I have finally reached the base of the ruins. From far away they didn't seem so big! The thing has to have at least over 9000 meters... Just kidding. But it is really, really big. But my estimations gave it 295 meters.

Yeah, it's pretty big.

Immediately my imagination was flooded by many kingdoms and giants. Just imagining the grandeur of this building in the times of it's prime was enough to make me excited.

You know, long-forgotten secrets and such stuff.

While having such thoughts, I was taking a stroll around the ruins, searching for some kind of entrance.

Finally I found it. Not that it was hidden in any way, but the whole thing is just too damn big. But now that I have seen a lot of it, I can give rough overview.

The whole building is, as I was saying many times, colossal. Everything, from sheer size of walls (or what's left of it) to doors and windows. Just so you know, while I have 1.7 meters, the doors are 35 meters big, and windows 20. At least that's how I estimate the thing, being so small in comparison.

Makes you wonder who, or what the hell made this thing.

Of course the estimations were made from comparing many parts of the ruins. Beside doors, which are somehow kept in nice shape.

But one thing is certain. It can't be any castle of fort. The windows are just too big.

Anyway, I quickly went to the gate.

And I got chills all over me.

Remember all those horror films you watched? With doors opening and closing on it's own? That's what I thought of when those friggin' 35 meters doors opened on their own. But curiosity took over and I didn't feel much fear. The excitement of being – probably – the first person to ever see it got to me.

And so I entered.

But not hippy-happy. Instead I have took every step carefully, sneaking inside.

Also, I noticed some markings on the bow above the entrance.

O' little one. Bow yer' head, as from dis' very moment thou art a child o'dark. Feel thy' power. Feel thy' fear. Fear thou not, as thou art welcome here. Welcome, the child o'Nouraxa.

I don't know how I could read it. It seemed so ancient. The letters alone, were I to see them, would make up only meaningless blabber to me.

And yet, I could read this sentence. Strange.

I have entered the ruins while thinking of it. But the answer came from the most unexpected source. Like always...

- It's because you are of my blood, child – a voice echoed in my head.

The same moment I could hear the doors closing behind me.

- Who's there? - I asked, giving doors a single glance to check if they are really closed.

- Search for the answer inside you. Can't you feel your heart racing? Can't you feel excitement of coming here? You have no fear inside you. That's because... – the voice paused for a moment. It seemed to me that, whoever spoke, had hardships finishing the sentence. - You're home, my child.

Then it hit me. The person who spoke to me. The person having power to open the doors to people of her kind – her children – could only be Nouraxa, as said on the inscription.

The moment I realized it, tears came down my cheeks. I have felt like this back in the real world. When I was embraced by my mother.

- W-where are you, mother? - I called out, my voice cracking.

- I'm coming to see you, child – Nouraxa said. - You... just wait there for me. Okay?

- Yes... - as I said it, I could somehow feel that it was the truth. If I were to call it, I wouldn't be able to.

Finally I heard her footsteps. Then, in the dim light I saw her figure. She was beautiful.

Tall, slim with long black hair gently flowing down her neck all the way to the knees. Her only clothes was white, so thin that it was almost non-existent, white dress. Strangely however it wasn't translucent at all.

I felt my blood boil as she stepped bare-footed to me. Slowly. With a heart-warming smile on her beautiful face.

Finally I couldn't stand still any more. I dashed into her embrace, and soon I felt her warmth.

- Before we celebrate our reunion, my child... - she whispered into my ear – I shall awaken your dormant power. Something, what shall make you a true child o'mine, little Viricide – she finished.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Along with the end of the sentence, I could feel a slight pain in the base of my neck.

And then came darkness...

* * *

Finally I have awoken. Strangely, I felt refreshed as I have never felt before. Immediately I proceeded to activate weaken spell on the ring.

As I was using roughly the same amount of power, I expected to... I don't know. Have the same degree of weakening? I guess that's how it's best do describe it.

Well, I suppose you're already figuring out that it wasn't the case.

Right. The thing is I couldn't breathe at all. Well, almost. I went ahead and checked my weakened stats right away.

Character InformationRace:VampireGenderFemaleClass:Dual WielderAlignment:Neutral-StatisticsStrength:1Vitality:1Agility:2Dexterity:1Intellect:10Wisdom:10Luck:0Tenacity:MAX-Elemental AffinitiesFire:-20%Ice:82%Earth:0%Wind:0%

What. The. Hell. Is. That.

From what I figured out it shouldn't be possible to lower stats more then the base 10. I mean, that's the value of my magic ones. But now I believe that's not the case, and that only mind-oriented stats do not get lower then base 10, however physical can get as far as 1.

It's damn scary if you ask me. I'm glad I learned it.

For surviving you have gained 9 Strength and Vitality, as well as for managing little manevours 8 Agility and 9 Dexterity. All while under unbeliveably extreme pressure.

Wow. I can breathe normally. Suppose that's some archievement, eh?

You have reached the pinnacle of Strength.

You have reached the pinnacle of Vitality.

You have reached the pinnacle of Agility.

You have reached the pinnacle of Dexterity.

- What. The. Heck?! - this time I couldn't hold it in. I shouted with surprise.

The next moment I heard silent footsteps echoing across the halls. I knew it was Nouraxa. My... mother. To be hones I was surprised how naturally it came to me.

I mean, I had no qualms about calling her that. And if it was just calling her that, I could do it all the time.

The more serious problem however is the fact that I felt that she's my mother.

I must say, I have no idea whether it's the vampire thing, or that I longed for motherly embrace.

Probably both.

- Are you all right? How are you feeling? - Mother said as she entered the room.

She had that caring look on her face. I couldn't help but notice it.

- Yeah mom, I'm fine. It's just that... - and so I told her my story.

Everything was included. Even that I wasn't originally from this world.

Hell, even my life on the 'other side' as I called it.
