Hello everyone!

First, thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to read and share! I hope you’re enjoying the story as much as I enjoy writing it.

Second, unfortunately due to not only major life events and upheavals, but also story building, our wonderful tale is going to have to go on hiatus for several months.

Since the beginning, I’ve based the magic and combat systems used in this world very loosely on popular d20 systems. However, the more the world and characters have come together the more I’ve had to heavily modify my approaches and spells. But the threats are getting larger and our heroes more powerful, and this hodge lodge system is no longer working the way I need it to.

So, I’ve decided that I need to finally sit down and create a framework for how the world of Missteps work. How the different sources of magic work, combat rules that fit with the style of writing, and a general idea of how practitioners of all grow and are shaped by their experiences.

The main theme is limitations. For me, a character who can do everything alone is no fun. They need the support of others to fill in the gaps, and truly make a party/team/ or family. This is true for heroes and villains (something that will become very important down the line.)

So in light of all the housekeeping that needs to be done, Missteps is going on hiatus so that it can continue to thrive. Don’t hesitate to message or comment any ideas you may have!
