The Wind That Never Leaves

The Wind That Never Leaves

It was a stormy day when we met, a day that I thought everything should have ended. The day in which I was able to feel warmth through the cold winds that I always wanted to escape from.

"Continue your life, there's nothing to lose even if you continue forward. Maybe you will find something that will make you stay instead of escaping."

Hearing those words as she holds me in her embrace as if she never wanted me to escape. I decided to continue living because of her warmth.

As I live through each day, I was able to find what she meant. The 'something' that will make me stop escaping from the cold winds that I've always hated.

"Hey! Stop spacing out and help me move these boxes inside! Seriously you kept telling me to live with you and yet here you are, just looking at me."

Looking at her bright smile, my world brightens. Carrying a box, I see a picture frame of us inside. A box that contains my memories with the wind that kept me warm inside.

The wind that brought me out of that miserable cold. The wind that brought warmth amidst the cold wind.

"Hehe~ I was able to pass the exam to my dream university! How about you?"

Watching her skip around while waving the letter from the university. I show her the letter that I received from the same university.

"Ah! You applied to the same university~ Look at you wanting to stay by my side even in there, how cute~"

Watching her smile as she pat my head like a child, I can't help but smile once again. Her smile that shines bright and gives warmth, I can't help but think 'Ah... staying really is the best choice.'

~

"I never thought the guy that I saved would be the one that catches my heart~"

Watching her face slightly flushed, I can't help but smile as she talks about our past as she drink.

"You were so cute when you visited me to say thanks~ you were so cute that I can't help but skip a beat, you know~ then suddenly you became so cool~ so dependable and... and..."

Listening to her as she slowly fall doze off while trying to finish her word made me smile. Looking at her smile as she sleeps made me feel warm.

'Ah... I really can't stop loving you.' As that thought appears in my mind, I hug her.

Feeling the cold winds, I can't help but remember my past.

"We're finally a full fledged adult now~!"

As if waking me up from a nightmare, I look at her jumping around like a child, I follow her wherever she goes. Watching her hugging her friends as they cheer made me feel happy as well.

Seeing me smile while looking at her, she approaches me and holds my hand as we start walking home.

"Now that we graduated, we shall start living with our happiness in mind~! Let's live as long as we can, be happy as long as we can~!"

Hearing her declaration made the cold winds that I was feeling disappear as if it was an illusion.

"Staying in the house is making me feel antsy~!"

Sitting on the couch as she caress her belly, she smiles while humming a familiar tune.

"We're going to be a happy family~ so grow faster, my lovely baby~!"

Watching her talk to her bulging belly made me smile.

~

"My parents always told me to cherish those that I deem as precious. And you know, you two are my precious family so I will always cherish you and our daughter~"

As she whisper those words to me, I can't help but tighten my embrace to her and our daughter. I look at her, I see her looking back at me with a smile that spreads her warmth and happiness, I smile back at her.

However, beneath those warmth that I feel from her. Cold wind brushes behind me, as if threatening to take away my the ones that gives me warmth.

~

As my vision slowly blurs, I look at her and our child unconscious beneath me. I hold on to my consciousness not caring about the cold that's slowly creeping up through my body.

"... You were the one who gave me warmth... the one who was shining so bright and warm that I was able to find a way out... the one who made me stay..."

Whispering those words, I kept holding on without letting the rubble crush us.

"... I... I want you... to live happily with her... no... I wanted to... watch you two be happy... you and our daughter... be happy in front of me..."

Feeling the weakness and cold slowly take over my body, the weight suddenly disappears. Collapsing beside them, I hug the two of them lightly. Feeling their warmth as the coldness takes over my body. Knowing that the both of them are safe from now on, every strength leaves my body.

'... I really love the both you...' Those thoughts appeared in my mind as my consciousness disappears.
