I think I know what just happened. After opening the relevant skill and title description, I quickly read them to myself.
[Skill: Divide I: User can split their body into pieces. User has Binary Fission Variation, and can divide themselves into two halves after consuming enough nutrients.
Title: Hivemind: User can instinctively control any organic beings they produce or dominate.]
Dominate? I'm not too sure I like that part, but I guess I don't have to worry about any mini-me's swimming around. If they're all me, then they aren't mini-me's, or something... Anyway, I try to control the new one, and I discover I have instinctual control over both bodies. I have them swim around each other a bit, and I zone out for a moment.

By the time I regain my focus, I've completely lost track of which one was the "original," but if I divided into half, is there really such a thing as an original? Before I can lose myself in an existential crisis, I suddenly find myself taken by an incredible hunger. It's worse than the time I tried that "intermittent fasting" thing and didn't eat for a day.
I couldn't quite sense it before, but now that I'm so hungry, I feel myself surrounded by this strange energy. I instinctually force it towards me, using nothing but my own force of will. I yank it within myself, tearing it into raw nutritional power to absorb. I force it through my system, my body seeming to devour it it on its own.
[Skill: Mana Eater: User can eat Mana to sustain themselves.
Seems like that weird energy is called Mana. I really should've guessed this was some form of fantasy world by now, but Mana definitely confirms it. Before I have any more time to muse on this, I notice a fellow bacterium charging at me spike-first.
