I headed straight for the nearest iron deposit, I carved a hole just wide enough for me to walk it was angled downwards slightly as the iron was deeper than my little cave. The reason for going after the iron was that an actual miner cost much more iron than copper to create. I was also given the incredibly helpful piece of information that I would yield more ores if I used a dedicated miner. So I made sure to stop once I got the exact amount I needed for the... Structure? It wasn't a building, well there was a building version of it that was meant to be placed on the surface above the ore it would drill down to the ore to mine. But being directly next to it I opted for the other option, it was more like a train car on a swivel. A large drill that would push forward swing around and pull back to output the ores.
When I placed it down I wasn't forced to customize it like the walls, but I knew I had the option to if I wanted. It wasn't like I could really see, the night vision for my cameras made everything very black and white and anything further away was just black. It didn't immediately start operation instead it threw up an error 'No Power' Why didn't I think of that first I should have known the lights in the walls aren't even on yet. Luckily I had enough copper to make a generator, there was wind generators but I was underground. Geothermal was a possibility as I saw this mountainside I dug into was actually quite close to a spring. There was even a water current generator, maybe I could open a resort down the line? For now I set down a thermal generator, I loaded it with some logs and the mine jumped to life as the logs burned. I wasn't going to risk flooding my hole with boiling water, not to mention that the hot water would heat up the lake.
I waited a bit to collect the ore the miner collected, I was amazed by how much it gave me. It was so worth the time it took to set up I had more iron then I knew what to do with. Well that's not true... I was making my way to copper deposit, the ores around here were fairly scarce I'll have to find some more materials soon. For now though I should be fine, I think I might start a resort with a resort and advertise it on their internet. Then I would be able to just buy the ores that I needed.
I placed down my second miner on the copper right away, I was getting frustrated it took me a full thirty minutes to get to this copper deposit. I didn't get the option to repair the motors in my body instead it was a replacement. This was going to take another long time, I made my way back up to my stone room before I sat my metal frame down. I set the upgrade to complete as I immersed myself in the internet.
I learned a lot more about the world. Like how there was three countries a human 'Empire' where the hero originated from. I say Empire but that's just what they are called they don't actually have an emperor. There was a Beastmen Kingdom, they were an actual kingdom they had a king though it seemed they also had a council to help run things. I enjoyed reading about the politics of this kingdom they had quite a lot of infighting between their sub-races. There wasn't actually a lot about the elven nation, not even a name but a map showed that it was by far the smallest. The Coalition was the governing body that all three of them cooperated under. The map I had pulled up of the world showed their borders and I had come down well within the Beastmen Kingdom, it was by far the best one to crash land into. I didn't have to worry so much about towns as their population was mainly based in a few scattered cities.

I checked the news again before my motor replacement finished. There wasn't any mention of the fight in orbit, but there was a mention about a certain lake being put into quarantine. They showed an image of a very familiar waterfall as a thick fence was being erected around a decently sized cleared area of the trees. The report said that there was 'research' being conducted around the lake, which was apparently a popular hiking destination from the nearest town. But I wasn't buying that excuse as they had guards set up around the fence and around the lake. There wasn't much more of the article just saying that they were driven off and weren't allowed to take any more photos or videos.
I was so glad to have new motors in my limbs, just moving my hand was a rewarding experience. I didn't realize how much the grating of my limns was bothering me, I felt like I had taken a shower after a rolling around in the desert. Speaking of my hands though, that upgrade didn't just fix my limbs. I had a full fresh coat of paint, I remember before my hand and arms were blackened by the reentry and the soot from the burned blood of the swarm vessel. Strangely I wasn't orange like in the game, I was blue... I will definitely have to figure out what I look like eventually. I smoothly stood without the grating noise and laughed in my joy.
"Hahahaha!"
I scared myself with the noise of my own laughter, I didn't realize I had an external speaker. Was I going crazy? I'll have to find a way for some companionship... or a companion ship. That sounds like fun, though when I looked there wasn't anything in my blueprints for a sentient ship. I did a quick query about how long I had been here... Three days since I crashed here, I really might be going crazy. I mentally pushed those thoughts to the side, I had the coalition building up a camp right outside my cave I needed to get eyes on them just so I wasn't surprised by them.
Luckily I had the perfect idea for this, a hidden camera. A single fixed camera that sent its feed down into my base. Sure enough I now had a camera about the size of my finger in my palm, it had a drill head that would be able to pull itself upwards. Though it was the size of my finger it was probably the size of a milk bottle from back home, still remarkably small for what it is doing. It had a wire connected to it that I just needed to find a place for the feed to go and then give it a direction to travel. A simple monitor on the wall was easy enough, I pushed the drill part of the camera into the wall after I had connected it to the monitor. I sent it out with instructions to not set up near the lake at all instead either in the forest edge or hidden along the cliffside.
A few minutes later the feed appeared on the monitor, it showed the camp from above and to the side. It was poking out of the cliff side, it had the ability to recolor itself so unless someone was paying very close attention as it popped out they won't be able to notice it.
Studying the feed was very interesting though. What the reporters showed was a camp with fences, now it had concrete walls with emplacements facing the forest. Behind the wall patrolled what looked some mechs, they weren't like me though they had pilots in them. I saw as one stopped in a covered area and its head lifted up and underneath it was a basket that had someone controlling it. They weren't like the ship in orbit, they had hard edges and angles. My systems informed me that these would help with deflecting physical projectiles. But when a Beastman with grey wolf ears walked out of that basket wearing a kingdom uniform I realized that that equipment wasn't coalition, he wasn't a coalition soldier either. The mechs were probably just there because they were setting up in their own territory. Something like a force of people dedicated to defending bases or a specific job so the Coalition can go about there work without worry.
The most interesting part was actually what my internal system had told me after looking at it.
