A new week has arrived and with it a need to look over your schedule for the upcoming two weeks.
However, before you do that you decide to call Matsui to your office as she should have the results of the local auditions.
You’re allowed to manage up to three idols now, so planning will have to wait until after you’ve decided whether or not your will be expanding your roster.
There’s three options there, just like last time.
Unfortunately it seems like Fujiwara Miki, the girl you met at the voice acting auditions and that later send you an email, didn’t make the cut or didn’t attend this round of auditions.

It’s probably for the best to avoid any idols that lean that way.
“Although Kawai Yuriko definitely has potential, I’m worried about the personality trait that the talent scouts seem to have observed,” you say, “Which is a shame as she seems well-suited for a public-facing career. Unlike Kaiba.”
You then sigh, “But knowing the kind of havoc an unguided idol can cause from Ichihara Riko, I’ll pass on her for now.”
Matsui nods and makes a small note on her clipboard, “How about the others?”
You frown as you focus your attention back on the datasheets.
Judging by the picture, Chigusa Iki seems like earnest, hard-working girl.
Furthermore, most of her statistics are already quite high and the scouts even seem to think some of her skills are almost as good as they’re going to get.
This can mean that she either has worked very hard in her own time to polish her skills or that she is naturally talented and broadcasts no desire or ability to increase her skills any further.
Nevertheless, she seems capable if perhaps a bit plain.
One can only wonder how the scouts concluded her primary personality trait.
Perhaps something went wrong during the auditions?
Both she and Enatsu Mari, the final girl in the selection, are still in high school.
“Send a message to Chigusa Iki to come in for a brief chat,” you say.
“Noted,” replies Matsui, then goes silent again.

As for Enatsu Mari, well, she seems like the go-lucky, energetic kind of girl.
Almost the direct opposite of Kaiba in the regard. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Perhaps her attitude and joyous energy can rub off on Kaiba a bit?
Unlike most other idol audition forms you’ve seen, Enatsu Mari is decidedly immodest.
Her skin is tanned and her clothing does little to hide it.
Furthermore, she seems fit and, judging by her score in dancing, is probably quite athletic.
Once again, the personality trait is worrying…
You sigh and look towards Matsui, “Are there ever any positive personality traits?”
Matsui taps her clipboards with a pen as she thinks, “Sometimes,” she says, “But even those are often just a curse in disguise. Idols with traits like “Ambitious” are prone to over-work themselves.”
“I see,” you say, “Ask her to come in for a quick meeting as well.”
“Of course,” replies Matsui, “Will you be meeting both at the same time or separate meetings?”
Meeting them at the same time had the added benefit of being able to introduce both of them to one another.
However, you will have to be more reserved with the kind of questions you can ask.
There’s also Kaiba to consider. Perhaps she could meet her new co-workers right away.

“We’ll meet them one at a time,” you reply “I don’t want to needlessly pressure them. What if they feel like they need to one-up each other right from the start? That’d turn into a mess real quick.”
“Also,” you continue, “We’ll introduce them to Kaiba at a later time. I don’t want to drop the sudden appearance of two new idols on her. I’ll have a chat with her before I introduce them.”
Matsui nods and leaves to send out the meeting requests.
Now that this is done the first order of business should be to meet up with Kaiba and ask if she has time for a brief chat during lunch to catch up and mention the arrival of the two new idols.
A glance at the clock tells you it’s about 11:00 AM right now, Kaiba should be just about done with her daily marketing meeting where she decides the topic for today’s vlog.
The live vlogs themselves usually happen in the later part of the afternoon, a time of day when most people are back from school or are starting to struggle with concentrating on work.
At least, that’s what marketing said.
You get up and briefly brush your suit down with a hand and makes yourself look presentable.
Honestly, you haven’t given Kaiba as much time as you should’ve these past weeks.
Although it’s probably true that Kaiba prefers to be alone, everyone enjoys some company from time to time, right?
A glance through the window reveals that it’s a warm, but cloudy day.
Further investigation using the computer mentions that it’s about 21 degrees Celsius (70F) and rain isn’t happening for the next few hours.
Perhaps the both of them can go for a walk before lunch?
Just thinking about getting out of the office for a bit has you smiling.
You makes your way into the hallway, stops by the breakroom to get a cup of tea for both yourself and Kaiba, and then continue towards the small studio where Kaiba records her vlogs.
Once there and both hands filled with cups of tea, you use an elbow to press down the doorhandle before opening the door itself with your back.
”Kaiba-san,” you say cheerfully, “I brought yo--”
Nobody’s here.
Indulging in the social safety this solitude provides, you pout.
The recording studio used to be fairly barebones, but as time went on marketing has piled more and more stuff in here.
Most of it is placed directly in line with the camera Kaiba uses to record her vlogs.
The device used for recording used to be little more than a webcam, but is now a proper studio camera.
Where there was previously little more than a dinky laptop, there is now a full-fledged desktop computer complete with multiple monitors.
The wall in line with the camera is filled with posters of drawn, stylized versions of Kaiba sitting amongst “Gloomlings”, those small, fluffy creatures that have been adopted as a mascot.
There’s also some of the extra merch that didn’t sell back during the handshaking event attached to the wall, like the mini Kaiba and Gloomling plushies.

It’s clear that marketing is preparing to launch some kind of online merch shop in the future and are laying down the groundwork for it.
“I suppose Kaiba-san’s meeting is running long…” you declare to the empty room.
There’s a sharp noise. A ping.
Its origin is the computer, a window on the taskbar blinks an alarming orange.
Still holding both cups of tea, Nagata Miho leans in.
The window itself is minimized, but the title reads “Chat - EmikoDesuu55“.
A smile on your lips, you shake your head knowingly.
Such a rookie mistake.
There was a time when you yourself would link your private accounts with your work computer, it just seemed easier at the time.
But such things inevitably embarrass you in some way and it’s best to keep these things on your phone.
The username does ring a bell and but you can’t quite pinpoint where you’ve last seen it.
There’s no denying that you’re curious about who your anti-social idol might be chatting with.
However, looking into these chat messages would be a gross violation of privacy, wouldn’t it?

If anything, you’re just trying to protect your inexperienced idol from damaging relationships.
Therefor it’s perfectly justified for you to have a small peek.
You glance over your shoulder towards the door. Still clear.
This act alone should probably tell you that what you’re doing isn’t right, but you takes a peek anyway.
Your eyes widen in surprise.
You expected maybe a handful of messages.
Things like “Nice vlog today!” responded to by Kaiba with a “Thanks for watching!”
That seems like that kind of wholesome, decent exchange an idol and her fan should be having.
Not… whatever this is.
You keeps scrolling up, but there’s just more and more messages.
The conversation was quite one-sided at first with most messages coming from this EmikoDesuu55, but as time went on Kaiba began responding just as frequently if not more.
You notice something and slaps your forehead, then sigh.
The entire conversation was done from Kaiba’s official streaming account: KaibaAoiOfficial.
It probably started off harmless enough.
Why wouldn’t you interact with fans from the official account?
Hopefully the chat log doesn’t contain anything troublesome.
After a whole heap of scrolling, you finally make it to the top of the chat logs.
Kaiba might return from her meeting at any moment, so the best you can do is skim the logs and pray there’s nothing problematic in there.
