Sitting atop a tall tree's branch, Kaden's brow furrowed as he surveyed the empty city gates. "Hmmm… What is this? It's already been an hour but no one is stepping out of the city?" He rubbed his chin, thinking about this weird anomaly. "Did they figure it out?" That was probably what happened because he had killed quite a few of the players and moreover the number of players in the city at the moment wasn't that many.
Kaden did not specifically remember anyone but there was a chance that he had gotten the same group twice in a row. Even if he did not, just a few groups gossiping amidst themselves in the city graveyard would be enough to find out everything. "Did they all just log out for a break?"
"Nah." Kaden shook his head. That was not possible. These players were all hardcore gamers or ardent game enthusiasts who logged in on the first two days of the game's launch despite it being the holidays. How could they be forced to take a break so easily? As if answering his doubts, the next second, Kaden finally saw a few players. Wait. Not a few. There were about twenty players who headed out of the city together. Not just that but right behind them, there was another group of about fifteen to twenty players.
It did not end there. These two groups were followed by another group of players and then yet another group of players. If he was correct, then there were about a hundred players in total, all of them loitering in the same area!
"That bastard is dead today!"
"He needs to pay! Search everywhere. Don't let him leave!"
"Does he really think that he can get with this shit?"
"Did you hear that? I thought I saw something move over there."
Kaden listened to the commotion, caught between amusement and awe. He did not know whether to laugh or cry at the hundred players searching for him as if he were a field boss. "Looks like I've made quite the impression," he mused, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. "They've rallied together to put an end to my reign of terror." He observed the gang as they split into smaller groups of five and started searching for him seriously, turning over every rock and disturbing every bush and bramble. It looked like they were determined not to let him escape.
However, Kaden had no such plans of leaving. This was because there were so many quests in the game that required PVP kills and these hundred people have literally handed themselves over to him on a silver platter! How would he let go of such an amazing chance? Only a fool would do that! That too when he was at least 7 or 8 levels above most of these players?!
Ke Ke. This was going to be a lot of fun. Kaden let out a mocking villainous laughter as he licked his lips and started making his plans. In his last life, he had heard about amazing experts and top players who had single-handedly slain an army of rival players. His skill level was nowhere close to theirs but to think that a nobody like him was also going to do something like that was giving him goosebumps.
Kaden grinned wickedly. Confirming his plan of action, he reached into the big sack of goodies on his back. These were the items he had snatched from the dead corpses all this while. If someone else saw this bag they would be shocked. It was bulging like a pot belly. Kaden had about forty kills so far and each one had generously given him two or more drops, even more lucrative than farming big mobs.
From this pile, he took out a crossbow and several arrows. While he was not extremely adept at using any particular weapon, he was good enough to know the basics of several of them. So he easily handled the crossbow and nocked an arrow onto it. But he did not release it just yet. His hungry eyes scanned the group, looking for the weakest link. Soon a group of five players crossed him, one of them shouting loudly. "He forced us to waste our time on the second day of the game! Fucking little bitch! I am going to personally camp and ruin that ass turd!"

"Oh come on, isn't this a bit too much? I just needed a few kills!" Kaden chuckled lightly hearing the compliment. His gaze dragged on the person who had given him such high praise. He was wearing a dire wolf cloak and a dire wolf belt. Otherwise, there was nothing except for the starting welcome package's trash-grade pants and shirt.
There! Kaden had found his weak link! Slapping the metallic surface of a dull rusted axe, a tall and lanky young man walked loftily with his chest jutted out. "If that idiot shows his face…" He started talking with a sneer appearing on his face but before he could finish his words, a searing pain tore through his back out of nowhere as a black paw almost mangled him from behind. Umbra quickly disappeared after doing its work.
Meanwhile, a bloodcurdling scream resounded loudly. Ahhhhhhhhh! The guy was still clearly not used to the pain that came along with this game. "Amateur." Kaden scoffed from a distance. He naturally did not remain idle. When the group was distracted by the sudden commotion, he let loose an arrow. The guy's health was not that great to begin with as he was probably a lower-level player. So with the combined attack, he was instantly dead while the rest of the group gawked in confusion.
"What the heck? How did he die?"
"Where did they attack from?"
Seeing the arrow, the group was even more shocked. From the intel they had gathered, the assailant was someone who used a dagger so how was there suddenly an arrow now? While this group continued to get flustered, a few of the nearby groups hurriedly rushed over after hearing the noise. Kaden had already expected this to happen and he was also prepared for it. This was why he had chosen his targets first before beginning to attack.
Right after the first one went down, Umbra quietly appeared behind another player who was also wearing mostly trash-grade items. Rip! Rip! Rip! Once again the black dog's sharp paws swiped the man's behind with a series of vicious strikes, before disappearing. Umbra's speed wasn't that great but the creature beautifully used the element of surprise and attacked at the most unexpected angle, making it seem as if it had godly speed.
"Ho! Ho! What a good boy!" Kaden couldn't help but admire its handiwork from afar. Be it this dog or the imp, both of the creatures were naturally very intelligent and had amazing innate fighting talent. He had never seen any pet given to a player already trained and ready-made for combat. It was as if these two were born to battle! Chuckling, Kaden let loose another arrow and ended the second guy too. The duo did not stop with that.
Rip! Rip! Rip! Rip! One by one different players in different directions started falling down left and right. The big black dog running around the forest was creating a bloody mess. While they were watching the dog, someone was hiding in plain sight and shooting arrows at them. That too every single one of these players had already died once so they had lost an item or two. Considering that the game had only just begun, the loss of the hard-earned item stung heavily and left them vulnerable.
Before anyone could even think clearly and make sense of the situation, already ten to twelve players had died. The entire group of hundred was somewhat spread out as they were searching for Kaden so only around twenty players were in this vicinity and were able to respond immediately. Normally, this would have been enough to take care of a single player but they did not expect that the person they would be facing was this monstrous.
Bah ha ha ha! Kaden laughed loudly. He was having a lot of fun and this was just the beginning. He had successfully brought down the first group by half so now he summoned scrap as well and jumped into the fray with his dagger gleaming. While the players were still distracted with Umbra, Scrap started shooting dark bolts at them and Kaden charged forward to stab everyone whom he could get a hold of. There was no rhyme or reason in their attack.
The three of them were like three maniacs simply let loose. They stabbed, slashed, burnt, and killed everyone that they could get their hands on. How could the remaining ten players hold up against such an assault? The haphazardly formed team crumbled in an instant. They had no coordination among them and Kaden was Level 18 and fully geared. What else could be the result? The search and hunt mission became a one-sided bloodbath!
"Ahhhh!"
"Motherfucker, why are you doing this?"
"Can't you just play the game?"
"It's just day 2!"
"Bastard! Stop bullying us… Ahhhhh!"
Within a minute, the entire group was slaughtered. Not missing a beat, the trio even started collecting everything that had dropped from the fight. Once again, they obtained a good haul of items and potions. The poor players did not even get a chance to use their freely obtained introductory potion packs as every single one of them had dropped by now. "Alright, four more groups, was it?"
