“Log 9. For the past week has been somewhat smooth. I found a general bling to a thousand year old dictator and it is quite interesting. I learned how to change your form. But that's about it, most of it is just his day-to-day stuff. But I did tell my authorities in the Empire about the book but they just laughed at me. Twilight was here to document the books that the library had but it was just a couple of days. I've noticed that this place is a bit less developed than Canterlot but it disappeared for a thousand years and just a couple of years ago it came back along with its residents. Soo there's a bunch of cultural differences. As for the Toaster towers, they were in the digging phases. There are not a whole lot of cultists yet but I plan to ask Cadence and Shining if I can help with some of the technological bonds and the cultist problem thayer having. Oh before I forget. I had some news that Ponyville became aware of my origins because one of Twilight's friends told some pony and it went off there but it's a small mining town and It's insulated so news will take longer to its neighbors.
Also Luna and I have been sending each other leaders. They're all doing good but Luna is trying to find a cuddle buddy and I hope she succeeds in finding some pony. As for Vera, she's fine from what I gathered. Also for the past week I've been living off of easy cook dinners and some fast food. Sam out.”
I put the tape in the box and got ready for the day. I cleaned my teeth, got a shower and all that jazz. When I open the fridge and pull out a pizza. The box had a zebra with an apron on and handing the viewer a slice of pizza. I read the instructions. “Preheat the oven to 400 then remove the pizza frum the box and put it on the pan. Once the oven is fully heated put the pizza in for 30 minutes.” It read. So I followed the instructions but when I put the pizza in I slipped a little and hit the oven. It hurt but I checked myself and the oven and both were fine. I grabbed a wind up timer and started it. While I waited I decided to read some of Sombra’s journal.
Over a thousand years ago.
Sombra was in a meeting with Dowen Hoof and his guards. Theater planning how to take over the Empire.
“So we storm in or do we surround the palace?” Sombra asked.
“Aren't you the captain?” Dowen Hoof asked.
Sombra posed for a moment and said “Maybe a blind of both. Maybe we can put some of our mages in before the raid because thal be wearing the changeling cloaks then after they get in position we surround the palace and if they don't surrender. We storm the palace.” Sombra ended by slamming the ponds on the bord. “But Dowen Hoof will be in the palace out of it?”
“Since thou storm the place at the time I’ll deal king. So I'll be taking care of him.”
“But when you two take over, who's going to be king?” one of the guards asked.
Sombra and Dowen Hoof looked at each other. Then Sombra asked. “Do thee want to be king?”
“Na.” Dowen Hoof replied.
“Ok then I’ll be king.”
“Well you're going to have to do a lot of paperwork. Sombra.”
“I might as well. I much rather do paperwork than have those warlords touch my family.”
As Dowen Hoof left the room he told Sombra a message. “All hail the new king.” then Lefing.
Present day.
The timer dinged. I put the journal on the floor and went to turn off the oven. I pulled the pizza out of the oven. I sat it on top of the oven to cool. Then I looked at the time and I still had like an hour before I had to go to work. Which is just making sure that they do their job properly and not slack off. So I cut a few slices of pizza and grabbed the journal and started reading.
Over A thousand years ago.
A few weeks of preparation there ready to attack the palace. Weeks of planning led up to this. Sombra’s army began to close into the city. He climbed one of the buildings and shouted.
“King Darklok! I demand that thou step down or we will have to auer might!”
“what?” the king asked from his palace.
“I said that If thou don't step down I will use my army to take over!”
“Never! my ponies love me how can thay ev-” Dowen Hoof slit the king’s throat.
“Well then.”
The army went through the city. But oddly enough hardly any pony tried to stop them but there were a few that tried to stop his army but they were quickly dealt with. After a while they went by Sombra’s home and his wife waved and he waved back. Most ponies did their daily jobs while others just watched.
Meanwhile back in the palace it was a total blood bath. Guards fighting each other and nobles being blasted by mages. Dowen Hoof hid the body of the king under the bed and he blocked the door with a desk. He looked out the balcony and Sombra’s forces were just coming to the palace. He grabbed a match and set the king's body on fire and threw it over the balcony. After a couple of hours Sombra’s forces went into the palace and all that was left in the palace were Dowen Hoof and a good part of his forces.
“Sooo. Did thee thank that we were over prepared?” Dowen Hoof asked Sombra.
“Na we needed the whole empire’s military.” Sombra sarcastically said.
“Well then… congratulations your King Sombra now.”
Every Pony shrugged and started chanting. “All hail King Sombra! All Hail King Sombra! ALL HAIL KING SOMBRA!”
Present Day.
When I got done eating my pizza I put the journal in my back bag and put my book of revolutionary inventions and my check book in the bag as well. I went to the sights checking on the workers. They were doing their job, some were taking breaks and drinking water and others were digging and putting the cables in the ground. After that I walked to the Palace to see if Cadence and Shining was available. I walked up to the Palace and there were guards and I asked them.
“Excuse me, is Princess Cadence available or is Her husband Shining armor?” “for what purpose.” they asked.
“Well, I'm going to offer them some help stopping the cult and give them technology.”
“Go right away sir.”
“Thank you.”
Thay let me through into the palace and I walked into the throne room and there was Cabence but she seemed to be boord. She was laying upside down and staring off to space. “Hello?” I asked. Cadence heard me and she quickly sat bake up and said.
“Oh Sam, do you have news or something for me?” She asked.
“Yes actually I came over to see if I can help.” I told her.
“On what?”
“I figured that I can help on the cult problem and I can make you guys a gun.”
“How can that be Very helpful? And what is a gun?”

“It’s a weapon we humans use in war and hunting.” I promptly explained. “The way it’s funkshen is that of a cannon but smaller and made to be held and its balls are smaller as well. Thanks to its small size it can move very fast and it's hard to see.”
“Ok im in!”
“Wow I did-”
“Shut up! all morning I had paperwork and my Shining is patrolling the streets.”
She got off of her throne and grabbed me by the tail. We got out of the palace and a handful of guards followed us. After a bit of traveling through the city and got to a black smithing place. “Oh your highness, what do you need?” the smither asked. And that when we started on the gun.
At Sam's place.
The front door was knocked down by a handful of cultists with a few spears. “We must find it! Get in every nook and cranny!” one of them said to the others. Sum went under the bed while others looked through the bathromes and one decided to eat some pizza.
“What are you doing!” The leader said to the one eating pizza.
“What. it's good.”
“that can be poisoned! if we want the king back we need to find that Pizza I mean book!”
“Ha ha. You got the words wrong.”
“It doesn't matter we need that book!”
“Well then. I’ll be eating.” The cultist looked through the cabinets. “Ramen!”
“Fine!”
The rebales cultist pulled out a pan and filled it with water. Then he turned on the fire. But that was very bad. The room was filled with gas and when that cultist turned the fire on it set off an explosion. The fire spread through the apartment devouring everything in its path. The windows shattered and whoever was in the blast was a fried horse. Shining Armor with his grope of solder was just a few blocks away he saw the explosion and he was scared but he marched forward to investigate. Then he told one of the guards. “Go tell cadence what happened.” Then the guard ran off to get her.
Back at the Black smithing Place.
I help the smither what the barrel is shaped and the shouting mechanism is. Cadence just watched. In the middle of assembling the back part of the gun A guard came in. “Princess there has been an attack near the City Lighbery!” the guard told cadence. Then cadence and the guard left. But me and the gray pegasus continued our work. The back side had a firing mechanism. All that had to be done is you recoule this tiger pat at the top then you have to pull the long trigger at the bottom. Once we got done with that part we worked on the reloading part which is just the barrel and the locking mechanism to keep the barrel in place. The way it reloaded was like a shotgun. After we got done with that part another guard came in and told me.
“Sir. the Prince and the princess needs you.”
“Ok where are they?” I asked.
“At your apartment. Well, your former apartment.”
My eyes widened and I followed him. During our walk I had a thought in my head. “What the fuck happened to my apartment.” Once we got there I saw my home and a massive crowd with a blind of punies, griffins and probably a few zebras surrounding the place. My jaw dropped. Glaze all over the pavement, the walls were black as charcoal and the door was just gone. Shining Armor and cadence looked at the mess. I walked in there to see if anything survived. I looked through what remained and… nuthing the tapes, the bed, everything is either flat out destroyed or beyond repair. I felt nothing, just like when I was back on Earth. Shining and Cadence came up to me and shining said. “Well then I guess you're homeless now.” Then Cadence hit him in the back of the head then they left. I heard them discussing the other side of the wall but sadly all I heard was the nose, not what they were saying specifically. After a while Cadence came up to me and asked.
“Do you want to live in the palace?”
“Well, I don't have any place to live anymore. So ya.”
“Well we have that settled, how about we finish that gun.”
Then Shing came in and asked Cadence. “Ok but what is a gun?”
“You see.” Cadence told shing.
After that discussion we left the ruined apartment and went to the black smithing place.
“Getings princes.” the smither said. “While you and your servant were gone. I made the bullets.”
“Well thank you. May I see them?” Cadence asked.
“Of Course you can.”
“Oh no.” I thought when he left to get them.
When he got back with the gun and with the bullets. It didn't look as bad as I thought. The bullets are massive and it looked functional and the gun looked like a hybrid between a cannon and a shotgun. Candnce prayed and asked me and shing. “Who's ready to try it out?” We nodded our heads and went with her. Shining and Cadence knew where they were going, I just followed them. After a while we made it to this shooting range. It seemed to be made for military training. There were guards and mages and they seemed more concerned about their training than their Leader holding a weird liking crossbow thing. We walked in and Cadence asked me.
“Excuse Me Sam but how do you even work this thang?”
“Well you need to have a hoof on a trigger.” I told her while putting her hooves in the right place and loaded the gun. “Then put the back of the gun on your shoulder and do you see that stick in the middle of your sight?”
“Yes.”
“That tells you where the bullet will hit.”
“Relly.”
“You're all set and all you have to do is pull the Trigger.”
She pulled the trigger, I hoped it worked and a loud boom sound spreaded across the place the target dummy she was aiming at got obliterated. Every pony at the place had their eyes filled with terrier and shock. I was filled with joy that it worked and Cadence started to reload it and shout it again. She seemed to like it. A massive smile, some laughter and target dummies dead on the spot. After a few rounds she stopped and told me.
“I need more!”
“More what?” I asked.
“More GUNS!” she shouted. “I want every soldier to have this and a factory making these and another one for the bullets!”
“Well I'm not in charge of the industry part of the Empire Princess.”
“I know I'm just telling you. That I want a whole army with these!”
“Are we going to the palace or…” Shing asked.
“Yes we're going home now dear.” Cadence told him.
After that all of us went back to the palace and when we got in we saw a line of nobles leading to the throne room. Cadence let out a long sigh and told shing. “Shing dear, can you please send Sam to a chamber.” “shore honey. See you in a couple of hours.” Shining told her before taking the gun and escorting me to one of the chambers that was available. Once we got there, Shining told me.
“OK, just don't burn the palace and you'll be fine.”
“Do I look like a three year old?” I asked him.
“No i'm just saying it tho.”
“Well, have a good night.”
“You too.”
Then he left the room with the gun. The room seemed to be a similar set up like my old home back at Canterlot. A desk, a bed and a window. I put my things down, went to the desk and wrote a letter to Luna about my day then I opened the journal and started to read.
Over a thousand years ago.
As King Sombra sat in his new throne room he had a thought and asked Dowen Hoof.
“Have thou ever noticed that every winter it gets colder than the last?” Sombra asked.
“I honestly didn't. why?” Dowen Hoof repided.
“Well it just is.”
“I've heard that the two warlords have been seen as some kind of gods. But odds are those are lies my king.”
“Well then I have a project for the palace.” King Sombra stated. “What if the palace can be a massive catalyst? Like it can make a massive shield around the city and keep the inappetence warm, throw out the winter and cool throw out the summer. We have the magical capabilities thanks to my research but we need a crystal big enough to power the thang.”
“Well you know about the crystal heart?”
“Ya it's a massive cristall…” Sombra released. “Dowen hoof thank you.”
“No problem my king.” Dowen hoof said.
“Can you go get it for me? We're going to make the world's biggest catalysts.”
After that Dowen Hoof went to the treasure room and got the heart. Sombra told Dowen Hoof the resources needed for this mega project. Then after that King Sombra went to that empty room in the middle of the palace to start carving out the magical machine and setting the parameters to make sure that the whole city was in rage. Dowen Hoof went ahead and told the one servants to go and buy the resources needed. “Ok, we will need a lot of copper, a lot of copper, some crystals and maybe some extra enchanting ink just in case.” Dowen Hoof told the servant as she wrote down everything then she belted out of the casal to retrieve them.
After a couple of hours Dowen Hoof and King Sombra met back up again.
“Well how long will the project be?” Dowen Hoof asked.
“I don't know. Probably a week or two.” Sombra told Dowen hoof.
Present day.
A loud BOOM startled me then I heard Cadences and Shining scream. My thought was. “Well shit!”
