After two hours of hard work, Qin Yu finally finished cleaning the Mingyue Plaza.
Taking a short break under the shade, Qin Yu pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, scratching out the title “The Road to Immortality Starting as a Servant Disciple” and changing it to “The Road to Immortality Starting with Shoveling Feces”.
He felt that this new title would likely attract more readers.
Having completed his task, Qin Yu didn’t choose to cultivate. Instead, he kept a sharp lookout, waiting to catch the culprit responsible for the mess.
By the time it was dusk, around 5 PM, he heard a cacophony of noises approaching—like a mix of many animals all at once.
Something’s happening!
Qin Yu perked up his ears, focused on the sounds, and soon saw where they were coming from.
A large group of spirit beasts was headed his way, with all sorts of animals, the biggest of which was a massive earth-shattering elephant, about four or five meters tall. Along with it were flying birds, running ostriches, antelopes, horses, and iron-eating beasts, with each spirit beast carrying a disciple of the Xuantian Sect.
At that moment, the entire group of spirit beasts was charging toward Qin Yu’s Mingyue Plaza.
You sons of a—finally found you!
Qin Yu jumped up and rushed toward them.
“Stop! Stop right there!” he shouted.
The group hurriedly halted their beasts, coming to a stop just a meter away from Qin Yu.
“Are you asking for death? Are you insane?” yelled the disciple riding the giant elephant.
Taking a deep breath, Qin Yu suppressed his anger. He said in a calm voice, “Can’t you put some civilized covers on your spirit beasts? It’s really bad manners to let them relieve themselves everywhere.”
“Civilized cover? What’s that?” The rider asked, confused.
Qin Yu replied, “It’s something to catch the waste of your beasts.”
Hearing this, the group burst into laughter.
The leader of the group patted his giant elephant and said, “My Earth-Shaking Dragon Elephant can drop hundreds of pounds at once, do you really think any cover can hold that?”
Qin Yu retorted, “Even so, you shouldn’t let it just relieve itself wherever. Can’t you take it to the toilet first? I just cleaned this plaza, and now I have to redo it.”
“Haha!” The rider sneered. “Cleaning is what you servant disciples are supposed to do, isn’t it?”
The one on the ostrich added, “If it weren’t for our beasts making a mess, the sect wouldn’t have had to take you servant disciples in. You should thank us for giving you a job, haha!”
“Correction,” Qin Yu said, “It’s your spirit beasts making the mess, not you!”
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“Yes, yes, it’s the spirit beasts making the mess, haha...” they laughed.
“You, a low-grade spirit root, don’t even know your place! Get out of the way, and when you see us, call us ‘Senior Brother.’ If not, one wrong move and we’ll step on you—it’ll be your own fault!” The elephant rider warned as his Earth-Shaking Dragon Elephant let out a roar that nearly shattered Qin Yu’s eardrums.
Qin Yu’s face darkened, and his fists clenched. He silently stepped aside.
As the spirit beasts moved on, the Mingyue Plaza was once again a mess.
It seemed that the Earth-Shaking Dragon Elephant had made an extra contribution, dropping a massive pile of dung right in the middle of the plaza.
Listening to their mocking laughter fading away, Qin Yu’s eyes turned red with rage, and he muttered through gritted teeth:
“Wait for it. Soon, I’ll make you clean up every bit of your spirit beasts’ mess!”
Qin Yu silently picked up his shovel and continued working.
An hour later, two disciples from the inspection team arrived.
“There’s still some mess. You’ll need to stay late and clean it properly!”
“Work faster next time. Since it’s your first time doing this, we won’t report you today.”
“Thank you, Senior Brothers!”
Once the two left, Qin Yu tossed aside his shovel and began thinking about his next move.
I’ve just arrived here and my foundation is unstable. I can’t face them head-on.
Qin Yu wasn’t reckless—he knew he could beat those weaker than him, but when it came to those stronger, his best bet was to use his brains.
I can’t beat them directly, but is there a way to get them back indirectly?
He thought for a long time, but couldn’t come up with any good ideas.
He only had experience dealing with ordinary people, but using those tactics against cultivators would be useless and likely get him into even more trouble.
My strength is too weak. If I want to deal with them, I’ll have to use my last resort!
With determination in his eyes, Qin Yu grabbed his shovel and continued cleaning the mess.
That night, Qin Yu didn’t cultivate. He spent hours tinkering with two wooden plaques in his room.
By dawn, he hurried out the door, carrying the plaques with him.
As dawn broke, the disciples of the Xuantian Sect began their daily tasks.
The outer disciples of the Beastmaster Peak, as usual, rode their spirit beasts toward the Beastmaster Peak for their lessons.
Both the outer and servant disciples lived in the outer sect area of the sect, though the servant disciples were situated in a more remote location.
Inner sect disciples resided on the peaks, in the inner sect area, and had access to more resources.
Servant disciples were tasked with menial work, while outer disciples could choose to cultivate or attend classes at the various peaks, learning different cultivation techniques.
As usual, the outer disciples of Beastmaster Peak charged through the sect on their spirit beasts, forcing other disciples to quickly step aside.
In the early stages of cultivation, spirit beasts were generally stronger than cultivators.
Thus, the Beastmaster Peak disciples were known for their arrogance, and few dared challenge them.
A few years ago, however, some of the Beastmaster Peak disciples caused an uproar in a crowded market by recklessly charging through the crowds. This angered the public, and the Law Enforcement Peak quickly mobilized the sect’s enforcers to arrest them.
The Law Enforcement Peak was led by the sect’s Grand Elder, one of the most powerful figures in the sect. After some negotiations, the decision was made to ban Beastmaster Peak disciples from bringing their spirit beasts into public spaces with heavy foot traffic.
From then on, the disciples of Beastmaster Peak would travel through less crowded routes, including the one that passed by Mingyue Plaza.
Today, as they neared the plaza, the disciples saw that it had been cordoned off, with a large wooden plaque placed to the side.
The leader of the group read aloud the words on the plaque:
“Mingyue Plaza Under Construction—Unauthorized Personnel Keep Out. Please Excuse the Inconvenience!”
The disciple on the Earth-Shaking Dragon Elephant read the sign out loud.
One of his subordinates said, “Why is it suddenly under construction?”
Another replied, “Who knows? Isn’t the Earthwork Pavilion responsible for this?”
“But there’s no one working here?”
“Just because we don’t see anyone doesn’t mean they aren’t here. Maybe they’re working underground!”
“I hate this Earthwork Pavilion! They don’t even give us a heads-up before starting construction!”
“Exactly!”
The subordinates all laughed and grumbled.
The leader of the group turned to the others and said, “What now, guys? Which way do we go?”
