Whoops, I intended to write another chapter yesterday, but I got hooked on MH4U. Sorry!
Also, I will be labelling “Old World Language” as “OWL” from now on. It’s really long and “OWL” sounded nice to me. Do note that this chapter will have some gore in it!
Anyway, thanks for checking out chapter 8! Enjoy the chapter and remember to leave some comments!
Chapter 8
A few days go by, and soon it has been a week since Lemir met Emiri. During this period of time, Lemir had a lot of time to think about the meeting and Emiri.
“That girl, Emiri… She’s very different from the Emily I know, even though they look so much alike.”, Lemir thought, while comparing their faces in his mind.
The only real difference in their appearance would be that Emily looked like a grown-up version of Emiri. Their names were also very similar. Lemir wondered what were the Gods thinking when they did this.
Lemir [OWL] : “Or maybe she had enough merit to come here too? Merit is accumulated over several lifetimes according to Acedia… And perhaps Emily wanted to forget those horrible memories of being killed…”
On that day Emily died, Lemir was returning to base camp with Ilnor and Rionir. They were the 3 best combatants in their party. They had left behind at least 10 other members including Emily whose teamwork was good enough to allow them to slay a commander demon.
Luke had already died from his injuries trying to protect a group of women from demons long ago. He was unfortunately alone at that time. He did not have a look of regret on his face when he died, as he managed to protect the women, even though Emily’s healing magic was unable to save him in time.
Mi’er, on the other hand, was killed in the initial demon outbreak. She was among the first victims to fall to the demon army. It was her death that inspired them to decide to fight back against the demons.
Lemir and the twins Ilnor and Rionir had just managed to slay their first demon general, whose appearance was that of a lizard person. It was a difficult fight, but they did not suffer any fatal injuries. They hurried back to their base camp but it was too late as the demons had already counter attacked.
Even though they could fend off commander demons, a sadistic demon general with the appearance of a skeleton mage attacked their base camp. They were unable to fight back and most of them died. Emily was left alive on a whim, and the demon general kept removing her limbs before using his healing magic to grow them back. Demons ordinarily couldn’t use healing magic, but this demon general could. Lemir never bothered finding out why.
When Lemir and the twins got back, they saw a scene of chaos and carnage. They saw Emily, whose mind was already broken long ago, still being tortured by the demon general. The demon general, seeing that Lemir was back, blew up Emily’s body by manipulating her mana. It was a horrible sight with her entrails all over the ground. Lemir lost himself in rage and it was all a blank from that point.
When he woke up, the bones of the demon general was all over the place, with no signs of revival. He looked around, and saw that Rionir had lost his left arm while Ilnor was trying to use healing magic on it. He finds out later that Rionir’s arm was lost while trying to cover for Lemir when he went berserk. Lemir stopped reminiscing at that point.
Lemir [OWL] : “Those were terrible times… To think I would recall something so unpleasant.”
On the other hand, from what he know of Emiri so far, she was one of the most violent kids he had ever known. According to Kagami, whom he met outside school without the presence of his sister, Kiiromi, Emiri was known better by the nickname “The Great Tigress”.
According to the rumours Kagami had heard and her own knowledge, Emiri had beaten up about 236 boys before Lemir, including boys older than her. Emiri had never raised her fist against girls. Of the injuries the 236 boys included; 123 pained expressions, 68 bruised faces, 29 broken teeth and 16 broken arms. Lemir added to the “pained expressions” counter.
Strangely, Emiri was never expelled for beating up so many boys. According to Kagami, they had all approached Emiri on their own. The boys were the first ones to try and hit her, so it was considered “self-defence” according to the teachers. Lemir’s case was not very serious, so it was not investigated deeply.
Comparing Emily and Emiri in his mind again, the only similarity would be their appearance. Shaking his head, he tried to take his mind off it while “fighting” against the “Demon Overlord” known better as “Math homework”.
==================================================================================
Last night, Lemir had barely managed to beat the “Demon Overlord” after consulting his sisters about it. They had solved the problems he was agonising over for hours in just minutes. He felt a greater shock than the times when Luke dumped 2 women on him while bringing 5 women to his room. Incidentally, Lemir just chatted with the 2 women in the tavern.
When he reached his seat in school, Arata turned to talk to him.
Arata [Japanese] : “Hey, did you hear about the rumours?”
Lemir [Japanese] : “What rumours?”
Arata [Japanese] : “Oh, you know. There’s this girl known as “The Great Tigress” in our school you see. Apparently, she beat up another guy again!”
Lemir [Japanese] : “… Is that so…”
Lemir immediately knew that the rumour was about him and Emiri. Mei Lang and her brother came over at this point.
Mei Lang [Japanese] : “Yeah! I heard about that rumour too! According to what I’ve heard, the person she beat up was a fifth grader!”
Arata [Japanese] : “Nope, that’s wrong. What actually happened was that a certain “super tall” first grader tried to grab her hand but ended up getting thrown on the ground instead.”
Mei Lang [Japanese] : “I see. How do you know that?”
Arata [Japanese] : “Hehe, I have a brother who happens to be in the same class as “The Great Tigress”. Now then, tell me. How many “super tall” first graders are there?”
Mei Lang [Japanese] : “You don’t mean… it was Lemir who got beaten up?”
Shuai Lang [Japanese] : “Of course it was Lemir. As far as I know, Lemir is the only first grader who is that tall.”
Arata [Japanese] : “Exactly! Now tell us, Lemir. Why did you get beaten up by her?”

Lemir [Japanese] : “Erm… well… I…”
Lemir knew he was in a lot of trouble. He did not want to rely on tears to get him through this, but the bell for homeroom just so happened to sound at this time.
Mei Lang [Japanese] : “Aww, he got saved by the bell. Arata, try to find out why for us!”
Arata [Japanese] : “Roger! I promise to find out why from Lemir at the end of the day!”
“Not good… I better think of a reason quickly…”, Lemir thought and started panicking.
==================================================================================
5 minutes ago, Malaixa was listening to Arata’s conversation with a slight smile. She enjoyed hearing about Lemir’s suffering. But she had to stop, she could hear about his suffering next time. She turned her attention towards the bunch of girls sitting near her table.
Malaixa had made some “friends” but she really thinks of them as underlings. But she did not let it show on the surface. She was currently chatting with some of them, as they approached her for help with their homework during the first few weeks. She was doing this to keep an act of a normal human.
Malaixa always had a machine drone watching Lemir at all time. Obviously, she knew about what happened the other day, and it greatly amused her. Seeing Lemir’s suffering was a great pleasure to her. She also knew about his trouble with Math. She did not understand why he would have trouble with such simple Math, as she was capable of doing what humans of this world call “University Level Calculations”. Regardless, she enjoyed the fact that Lemir was suffering.
Makane [Japanese] : “Erm… Malaixa-chan, how do you solve this problem?”
Makane was among the group of girls that Malaixa made “friends” with. She was the first to approach her, seeing as Malaixa was doing very well with every single problem and homework.
Malaixa [Japanese] : “You do this, and then this. Next, you do that. And you get the solution.”
Malaixa just solved the problem for Makane, as she couldn’t be bothered to explain how to solve it. But Makane didn’t mind. She had figured out how to work out the problem by backtracking from the solution.
Makane [Japanese] : “Ah. So that’s how you solve it. Thank you Malaixa-chan.”
Of all the underlings Malaixa had, she liked Makane the most, as she was the smartest. She could figure out how to solve the problems with only a little help, who would then teach the other girls who originally came to Malaixa for help with homework.
“I suppose some humans have good qualities after all… Wait, did I just think like that?”, thought Malaixa, as she surprised herself with such human-like thoughts.
“Must be this damned human body… It’s starting to influence my soul. I’ve never stayed in a human body for this long before.”, thought Malaixa as she cursed in her mind.
Soon, the bell for homeroom rang and her “friends” went back to their seats.
==================================================================================
Another day of school ended for Lemir. Lemir came up with a random reason of “I thought she was someone I used to play with, but she wasn’t” and Arata accepted it without knowing that Lemir never played with other kids until he entered elementary school.
Soon, he arrived at home. He got ready to go to the dojo again, as his grandfather had asked him to go there in the morning after his morning training. He got ready quickly, and arrived at the dojo in 5 minutes. Ryuugami was waiting for him in the dojo, with another disciple this time.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “I suppose you know why I called you here?”
Lemir [Japanese] : “Yes, Ji-san. It is because I have reached a sufficient level of understanding and skill with the Grappling Dragon.”
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Correct! You are indeed my grandson. Now then, I will show you the third form of the Dragon God Style.”
Ryuugami started sparring with the disciple. Ryuugami got into the Flowing Dragon Stance very quickly, and the disciple started attacking. After sparring for about 30 seconds, the Grappling Dragon came out from the disciple’s side.
As soon as the disciple grabbed Ryuugami’s hand, he tried to throw Ryuugami on the ground. However, the one who ended up on the ground was the disciple instead, and the sparring match ended.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Now then, tell me what I did, and your thoughts.”
Lemir [Japanese] : “When your opponent grabbed your arm, you immediately used his strength when grabbing you to throw him off balance by moving that arm in the same direction. You then tripped him and he fell on the ground. However, had he let go, I think he wouldn’t have fallen.”
Ryuugami suddenly had a stunned look on his face, but it quickly turned into one of happiness.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Hahaha! You are indeed my grandson! Not only did you understand the Unresisting Dragon, which is similar to Flowing Dragon except that it must make contact with your opponent, you also get an insight on the fourth form, the Free Dragon!”
Lemir was secretly surprised, as he did not expect the fourth form to be something natural to him. What Lemir didn’t realise was that the way he fought back in his previous world was just to fight and then react to whatever the opponent throws at him when they come.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “In any case, you will have to start sparring more often from now on. Come to the dojo for sparring every day after school from tomorrow onwards. For today, you can take a rest.”
Lemir [Japanese] : “Yes, Ji-san.”
Lemir was not completely happy about the rest he got, as he knew his training was going to become harder than before…
==================================================================================
Malaixa soon got home, and was greeted by the 4 maids in her house. She immediately went back to her room after acknowledging their greetings, and turned on her computer. It showed a picture of Lemir resting in his living room.
Malaixa [OWL] : “Hmph, just you wait, Lemir. Soon I will have my revenge.”
Malaixa then moved on to work on a project she had been working on for the past few months. It was the creation of a self-aware artificial intelligence…
