Chapter 5
“Today was a tiring day…”, Lemir thought, as he recalled what happened after homeroom today on the way home.
The first class after homeroom was English, which he managed to do with little problem. English was, after all, extremely similar to the language in his previous world. It was a class without much issue, but there was at least 1 person looking at him at one time throughout the entire lesson.
The second class was Japanese, yet another language class. Lemir was not as proficient in writing or reading Japanese yet, but had no problems speaking it. Thus he had some problems with the class. Lemir wondered why was there ever a need to have multiple human languages. There were still gazes were still aimed at him.
The third class was Math. Unlike the simple calculations he usually did in his old world when calculating change and such, Math in this world was overly complicated for him. He was unable to understand much of what was being taught. Seeing the chance, some of his classmates sitting near him decided to help him out a little before being yelled at by the Math teacher.
The fourth class was Science, which was better than Math but worse than Japanese. He never knew that air was made up of so many particles, since powerful wind mages back in his old world typically just removed the air completely if they wanted to suffocate someone. Who knew that all they had to do was remove oxygen?
When the Science class ended, he felt much more tired than doing a whole day of “Hell Training”. “Acedia… didn’t I get an intelligent mind? Why is Math so hard then?!”Lemir cursed Acedia in his mind.
But his thoughts didn’t last long as his classmates did not let him rest, especially since its lunch break now. They started crowding around him and bombarding him with questions. It was overwhelming for Lemir, who has never interacted with such a huge group at once before. He couldn’t hear their questions and was about to get up and run before his saviour appeared.
Yakane [Japanese] : “Alright, stop! Everyone, you are overwhelming him. Ask him one at a time, not all at once.”
Lemir secretly thanked Yakane in his heart for helping him.
Female Classmate A [Japanese] : “Then, I’ll start. Lemir-kun, how come you are so good at English?”
Lemir [Japanese] : “Er, because I practised…?”
Lemir obviously couldn’t tell her that he had kept his memories from his past life and they spoke and wrote English there.
Female Classmate A [Japanese] : “Eh, is that so? Well, then why…”
Male Classmate A [Japanese] : “Stop! You already asked a question! Now it’s my turn. Lemir-kun, can I be your friend? My name is Jasaki Arata!”
Lemir [Japanese] : “Sure! It’s nice to meet you, Jasaki-kun!”
Lemir was happy about making his first friend in school. Everyone else immediately asked to be his friend, probably due to the act he put on in the morning. He accepted all of them, and called them by their family name.
Soon, their homeroom teacher came in with their lunches. She started speaking while passing them out to the student in the front row.
Teacher [Japanese] : “Alright, today I’ve brought everyone your lunch for you, but from tomorrow onwards, you kids will have to get them yourselves, okay? If you have your own lunch, you can also eat it now.”
Class [Japanese] : “Yes!”
Lemir was initially worried about lunch as he was not given money, but hearing this, he felt better. Soon, he got his lunch pack from the boy sitting in front of him. He happened to be Jasaki Arata.
Lemir [Japanese] : “Thanks, Jasaki-kun.”
Arata [Japanese] : “No problem, just call me Arata. Everyone’s already calling you Lemir after all.”
The reason why Lemir was never bothered about people calling him by his first name was because it was the name he had given himself. He had not expected to get a family name, as in his old world, only nobles or royalty had family names. At most, children would get their parents’ names.
Teacher [Japanese] : “Alright, before you start eating, I have a few things to say. In a few days, we will be picking the class representative. So start making friends and pick who you think will fit best for this role!”

Class [Japanese] : “Yes!”
Teacher [Japanese] : “You can start eating now! Remember what you have to say before and after a meal!”
Class [Japanese] : “Itadakimasu!”
==================================================================================
Lemir snapped out of his flashbacks when he realised he had reached home already. His mother was waiting for him outside the door. Kiiromi still had some classes after lunch break, so he came back alone first.
Lemir [Japanese] : “I’m back!”
Ayame [Japanese] : “Welcome back! I didn’t get to see you this morning but now that I do, you look so cute!”
Ayame hugged Lemir and let go only after a long time.
Ayame [Japanese] : “Father was looking for you. He is at the dojo.”
Ayame referred to Ryuugami as father, and if she was talking about Rolark, she would say daddy. Lemir entered the house and took a quick shower before changing into his training uniform. This took 8 minutes, and going to the dojo took another 2 minutes. It took about 10 minutes after he arrived at home to speak to his grandfather.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Mmm. An acceptable timing. Now then, do you know why I’ve called you here?”
Lemir had an inkling of why he was called here. A few days ago, Lemir mastered the Flowing Dragon. He believes that any move coming from someone who was about 50% faster than he was would be unable to land a hit on him. It was at the level where you can say you’ve mastered the Flowing Dragon.
Lemir [Japanese] : “I believe it is because I’ve mastered the Flowing Dragon.”
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “That’s not wrong, but it isn’t right either. It is because I believe you have reached a sufficient level of skill with the Flowing Dragon. There are no true limits to martial arts. After all, Flowing Dragon can be countered with another stance.”
Lemir was shocked that the Flowing Dragon could be countered in some way. And the way his grandfather put it sounded like the counter was within the Dragon God Style.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “It should not be surprising. The Flowing Dragon has been around for such a long time already, and you think nobody has found a way to counter it? Bullshit!”
Lemir immediately understood. Lemir’s thoughts were easily seen through by Ryuugami, who was still over twice his age including his previous life.
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Each stance or form was designed to either counter or to be better than the move before it! However, it requires an in-depth understanding of each of the stances and forms. As each generation goes by, the Dragon God Style becomes stronger. In the future, this will probably be your job as well.”
Lemir [Japanese] : “Yes!”
Ryuugami [Japanese] : “Now, enter the Flowing Dragon. I will show you the next move, Grappling Dragon!”
Lemir immediately entered the stance of the Flowing Dragon. Ryuugami immediately went on the attack. Ryuugami was attacking at a speed Lemir could deal with, and suddenly a chop came from above his head. He moved his left hand towards it to redirect the chop, but the chop turned into a grabbing move instead.
Lemir then felt a pull on that hand and his entire body followed. Lemir was thrown overhead onto the ground by Ryuugami!
Lemir realised that he had been tricked into thinking that the opponent, who in this case was Ryuugami, would stick to punching, kicking and chopping when a grabbing move was all it took to destroy the Flowing Dragon.
Lemir stood up and bowed towards Ryuugami.
Lemir [Japanese] : “Thank you very much.”
Ryuugami, feeling very pleased as it seems that Lemir had understood the Grappling Dragon immediately. It should not be as difficult for him to grasp as the Flowing Dragon, as the Flowing Dragon was one of the harder stances and was also the original.
The Grappling Dragon was created when the head of the family at that time had to deal with enemies who mimicked the Flowing Dragon stance. Thinking the Flowing Dragon stance was almighty, even to their own creators, they were utterly annihilated by the Grappling Dragon.
Ryuugami did not ask if he understood, and walked off to enjoy his afternoon tea. Lemir sat on the ground to relax a bit before beginning his training all over again.
