Chapter 19

Lemir [Japanese] : “Who are you?”

As Lemir asked the all-important question, the mysterious man grinned like a child that has just thought of a great prank to pull. He then spoke, although not in Japanese.

Mysterious Man [English] : “This is Madness!”

Lemir [English] : “Madness…?”

As English was extremely similar to OWL, along with his education of English in this life as well, he understood what the man said, and thus replied in the same language. Upon hearing what Lemir said, the grin on his face grew even wider. He walked up to Lemir which put Lemir on guard a little.

Mysterious Man [English] : “THIS! IS! SPARTAAAAA!!!”

Upon shouting that, the mysterious man kicked forward with his right foot. The foot was heading towards Lemir, and with great speed too. However, as Lemir had been on guard for any suspicious actions, he managed to dodge out of the way.

Mysterious Man [Japanese] : “Wait, this isn’t in the script!”

As the mysterious man kicked forward with all his might, he could not balance himself in time. Thus, he fell forward and landed in an awkward position. He stayed in that position for a few seconds before getting up and dusting himself off.

Lemir, who had been watching him with caution, watched the mysterious man as he dusted himself off. Lemir didn’t want to let down his guard after nearly getting kicked in the gut. However, he still has no idea what is going on. As the mysterious man was done dusting himself off, he spoke again after coughing once.

Mysterious Man [Japanese] : *Cough* “Let’s do that again.”

After saying that, the mysterious man did some weird action with his right hand and a door of white light appeared before him. As he stepped through the door, it disappeared. Lemir still has no idea what’s going on.

Moments later, a door of white light appeared again in the same spot where the mysterious man stepped through earlier. Soon afterwards, the same mysterious man came out from the door. When he appeared, he stopped at the same spot he was at earlier. Silence ensued.

Lemir, who was still on guard, had no idea what to do. The mysterious man also stood rooted to his spot as though he was waiting for something. After some time, the mysterious man broke the silence.

Mysterious Man [Japanese] : *Cough* “Ask me who I am again.” *Cough*

Lemir had no idea what this man wanted, but he decided to ask that same “all-important question” from earlier since it was asked of him.

Lemir [Japanese] : “Who are you?”

Hearing this, the mysterious man grinned as though nothing happened earlier. He then spoke.

Mysterious Man [Japanese] : “I’m glad you asked. I am -%^#@^%!-, a -*&^#$@&%- !”

Lemir couldn’t help but frown. He understood the first half of what the mysterious man said. However, most of what was said in the second half sounded more like gibberish to him. Upon noticing Lemir’s frown, the mysterious man spoke again while frowning himself too.

Mysterious Man [Japanese?] : “ -#*@^(@^%- ? -#@(^%@#*- ! -#&@^$- -#@%*&- -#*%(&@- !”

However, it all sounded like gibberish to Lemir. It also seemed like the mysterious man had forgotten about Lemir, and went on to keep shouting angrily in gibberish. The oppressive feeling he was giving off also seemed to get stronger. Lemir couldn’t help it anymore, and spoke again.

Lemir [Japanese] : “No, I can’t understand what you are saying. What are you trying to say?”

The mysterious man stopped, as though he had just remembered about Lemir again. The oppressive feeling dissipated and dropped down to the level it was before he started shouting. A smile returned to the man’s face, and he spoke again.

Mysterious Man [Japanese] : “Ahahaha, sorry, sorry! I had forgotten about you earlier. Anyway, what I was doing was checking if any words in -#(%^#@- can be spoken in the mortal tongue. But it seems that it cannot be spoken at all! But no matter! You can just call me Kenji! It as close as it can get to my actual name in the mortal tongue. As for who I am… Eh, you can just think of me as a God.”

Lemir had long known that this man, who calls himself Kenji, was at least a God. However, Acedia never gave off an oppressive feeling. “Maybe there are differences between Gods too?”, Lemir thought. Lemir decided to just accept it, and asked another question.

Lemir [Japanese] : “Where’s Acedia? Wasn’t he supposed to be here instead?”

Kenji [Japanese] : “Oh, I gave him the day off. I wanted to meet the mortal who could slaughter the demon lord and his army and generals almost singlehandedly, but then died immediately afterwards. It’s been eons since such a thing happened again, you know?!”

Lemir felt surprised at what Kenji said. Just from the first sentence, Lemir could infer that Kenji is at least 1 rank higher than Acedia, as he could give him a break. Also, it seems that what he managed to do is not something that happens very often, as Kenji used “eons”. However, the surprise did not last long, as Lemir recalled something about Gods.

Lemir [Japanese] : “But don’t you have other work to do?”

Indeed, according to Acedia, Gods were supposed to have a lot of work sorting through souls and such. However, it seems that Kenji is very free, which puzzled Lemir a little. But upon hearing Lemir’s question, Kenji just laughed.

Kenji [Japanese] : “…hahaha… Sorry, sorry! Like Acedia said, you ask some weird questions! Anyway, I don’t need to work like the other Gods. I was just bored, so I came to meet you and…”

Kenji stopped at that moment before continuing. At that moment, he was thinking furiously. “I shouldn’t let him know about Malaix… It wouldn’t be interesting that way! But how do I continue… Ah! That’s right!”

Kenji [Japanese] : “Thus gave Acedia a break for today!”

Though it took a while to describe, the pause was not even a second long. Thus, Lemir did not notice anything suspicious. However, something was telling him that Kenji was hiding something. Regardless, Lemir decided not to care about it, as he doubted he could get Kenji to spill what he was hiding. However, Lemir had another question.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Lemir [Japanese] : “Then you could have met me 7 years ago, right? Why didn’t you?”

Kenji [Japanese] : “Oh, that’s simple. To us Gods, time flies differently as compared to mortals. To me, 10 years could be equivalent to 10 minutes from your world, and stuff. Anyway, forget that! It’s time to answer MY questions!”

Afterwards, the both of them chatted like regular friends, although Kenji was the one asking the questions, and writing down Lemir’s answers. Most of them were about Lemir’s friends; namely Arata, Luke and Malaixa. Soon, it came to an end.

Kenji [Japanese] : “Alright, I got all the answers I need. Thank you for your time! So, see ya!”

Lemir [Japanese] : “Eh…”

Before Lemir could say anything else, he vanished from Kenji’s sight. It was a similar scene to what happened 7 years ago with Acedia. Making some weird signs with his hand again, a door of light appeared before him again. He entered it, and appeared in a strange place where a man who seemed to be Malaix is.

Kenji [OWL] : “Yo, Malaix! Or should I call you Malaixa now?”

Malaix [OWL/Japanese] : “What is happening to me, Ace… A High Being?!”

Malaix appeared to be in a lot of pain, and spoke in OWL before changing to Japanese. Turning back the clock to when Malaix first appeared here…

==================================================================================

Malaixa, having fallen asleep, appeared in the room of the demon lord’s throne as Malaix. Once again, he was seated on the throne as Malaix. As he had some time, he thought about his actions over the past few years, and discovered something disturbing.

It seems that he, as Malaixa, has started to behave more and more like a human girl, and he had not noticed it until now. He also examined his soul, and discovered that the demon soul now only has 60% of its size from before. As for the other 40%, it seemed to have become a human soul. It was also slowly gaining strength, and even now, he could tell that his demon soul was weakening.

He did not expect this to occur, and he was unable to stop it either. Moments after he discovered this, Malaix felt a lot of pain in his entire body suddenly, and he fell to his knees. At the same time, the room slowly started shifting between the demon lord’s throne room and Malaixa’s classroom from the school she went to.

Similarly, Malaix’s body was shifting between Malaixa and Malaix. Soon, a door of white light appeared in the room, and Kenji walked out from it.

Kenji [OWL] : “Yo, Malaix! Or should I call you Malaixa now?”

Malaix [OWL/Japanese] : “What is happening to me, Ace… A High Being?!”

Malaix did not think a High Being would appear instead of Acedia. Malaix did not know who Kenji was, but the oppressive feeling absent from a God told him that it was definitely a High Being.

Kenji [OWL] : “Wow, so this is what will happen when you put a demon lord’s soul into a human body. It seems the soul will automatically adjust itself to suit the body, rather than the other way round.”

Although Kenji was not answering Malaix’s question, it still explained what was happening to him. However, Malaix could not speak anymore because the pain was getting stronger.

Kenji [OWL] : “Ah, right. You can’t speak now because of the pain, right? Okay, I’ll help out then.”

Kenji walked up to Malaix, and drove his hand into Malaix’s chest. Strangely, the hand did not come out from the other side. Malaix also seemed to have lost all control of his body, and went limp. Kenji then pulled out his hand, and with it, pulled out another Malaix from the body.

Suddenly, the first Malaix fell onto the ground and slowly got smaller before turning into Malaixa. At the same time, the room changed into the classroom that Malaixa spends in school every day. The second Malaix suddenly turned into black gas, and Kenji stuffed it inside a bottle he brought out from nowhere, and sealed the bottle. A tiny Malaix appeared in the bottle, knocking on the glass and spoke.

Malaix [OWL] : “Damn you, High Being! Let me out of here!”

Kenji, hearing this, just shook the bottle that Malaix is trapped in. It made Malaix a bit dizzy, but it did not knock him out.

Kenji [OWL] : “Heh, just stay in there like a proper pet. I won’t let your demonic side ruin the comedy show I’m directing.”

What Kenji had pulled out from Malaix was actually the demonic soul that originally belonged to Malaix. He had left behind the human soul that Malaixa was a part of. However, this did not mean that Malaixa would lose her memories.

Kenji [OWL] : “Hmm, come to think of it, you are making a VRMMO, but it’s not going to happen until after we meet again 7 years later… Alright, let’s mess around with the mortal world a little.”

Later, the technology in Lemir’s and Malaixa’s world would improve a lot, which speeds up Malaixa’s plan for VRMMO by a few years, but Malaixa would never know that it was a High Being who had interfered with the mortal world.

Kenji [OWL] : “Before that… I should send her back, huh.”

Kenji spoke as he looked at Malaixa, who was still lying down on the ground. Malaix, who was in the bottle Kenji was holding, was still trying to break out. Kenji just ignored him completely.

Kenji [OWL] : “Maybe I should seal all her memories and unlock it every few years like I did with Emily? Hmm… Nah, let’s not. It wouldn’t be a proper comedy anymore if she doesn’t remember her goals. I’ll just seal away the memories of what just happen.”

Upon saying that, he pointed at Malaixa’s head and a white light shot from his finger. After a few seconds, she disappeared from the classroom.

Kenji [OWL] : “Alright, the comedy should be set. Now, to find some of those mortals and give them some knowledge to improve technology the way Malaixa wants it…”

Kenji once again made some weird signs with his hand again, and left the classroom through the white door of light that appeared.
