“Rakin! You stupid fool! Come back!”
Darisay was almost on the verge of losing his mind when he saw his son rushing over to meet Mergo head on!
“Die, you fool!” Megro laughed heartily seeing the turn of events and swiped his clawed fingers towards the brat courting his death!
But then from out of nowhere, Rakin did the unthinkable as he suddenly halted in his tracks, and Megro’s claws barely brushed past his nose, an action that abruptly startled Megro that he wasn’t able to stop his body from spinning around due to the force behind his attack.
No one had noticed, but Rakin’s eyes were actually shaking in fear, and his earlier actions had created a misunderstanding as they thought that he did it on purpose and saw the attack coming.
But what they didn’t know was that Rakin had actually snapped out of his bloodlust and crazed state just now, which must have been caused by the stress of seeing people getting killed around him, especially when the Big Boss is coming for his life!
Which activated his body’s fight or flight response!
So he wasn’t being brave earlier, it was just his body’s fight or flight response towards the danger directed towards him!
“Rakin!!!”
The sudden shout from his father quickly jolted him awake as his brain immediately processed what was happening before his eyes like a supercomputer, and then he felt like everything around him was suddenly moving in slow motion!
“Hieeeee!”
Rakin, of course, had panicked and just blindly stabbed his sword forward with his eyes tightly shut, before getting that weird feeling through his sword that felt like it had stabbed something soft, but at the same time hard.
And with his eyes still closed, he suddenly realized that the sound of fighting disappeared around him, which creeped him out with a shiver of his body.
Cough! Cough!
“W-what..? You...”
But when he opened his eyes, he was immediately shook, because before his eyes, he saw Megro wearing a bewildered look on his face while coughing up black blood while staring at him with widened eyes.
Rakin slowly moved his eyes downwards and saw that his Kampilan had actually stabbed through Megro dead right on the middle of his chest!
“Ahhh!”
Rakin was immediately spooked like a cat as he quickly let go of his sword with a yell before falling on the ground on his butt.
“Great job son!”
Rakin’s father, who saw how everything transpired, couldn’t help but let out a shout of praise to his son, before he quickly took the chance that everyone was distracted and disengaged from his opponents and hastily made his way over to his horrified son!
An enemy aswang tried to block his way, but one of his warriors quickly stepped forward and blocked the monster from interfering with his Rajah.
Darisay quickly ran up to his son’s side and tried to pull him up while grabbing his arm while shouting, “Snap out of it and get up, you fool!”
Meanwhile, Agani and the others quickly rushed up to them when the aswangs they were fighting turned berserk with the death of Megro as they turned their backs on them and rushed towards Darisay and Rakin’s direction with vengeance in their eyes!
“Stop them!”
Agani and Darisay gave a roar at the same time.

The Megro Tribe aswangs had all rushed towards Darisay and Rakin’s direction, with Darisay’s men and the allied aswangs hot on their tails when a reverberating roar suddenly pierced through the surroundings!
“ROARRR! Fall back!!!”
Following that reverberating roar, the Megro tribe Aswangs came into an immediate halt, it took them a couple of seconds of hesitation before they quickly rushed towards the direction of where that roar originated from, and it caused the allied aswangs and humans to lose their target as they also stopped in their tracks and didn’t bother chasing them after that as they figured out that the battle is already over.
The allied humans and aswangs quickly gathered together as they warily stared at their enemies with their hands gripped tightly around their weapons and their claws ready.
The aswang who had ordered its brethren to retreat, looked at Darisay and the others, most especially at Rakin, with an expression that made its already scary face, even more horrifying!
“Remember this Ilokanos and Aswangs of Kumon Tribe, we’ll be back to reap this blood debt with you all later!”
Then he turned around and flashed away, while its brethren hatefully glared at their nemesis as they cursed at them in low growls before also turning away and quickly followed after their acting leader.
“W-we won!” Rakin softly muttered to himself, and as that thought slowly sinked in inside him, his face slowly brightened up as he looked around him and shouted, “W-we won! Father, we drove them away! We defeated them! Ye…sss!”
Rakin was incredibly joyful, but then memories of what happened earlier suddenly started replaying inside his head the moment his eyes accidentally glanced at Megro’s corpse, causing him to feel nauseated as he quickly ran beside a tree and leaned on it and started vomiting.
“Arghhh~!”
Agani was watching Rakin and couldn’t help but frown in disgust and said, “Ughh, gross…”
Darisay narrowed his eyes while also looking at his son and said, “You’ve seen worse than that”
“Yeah, but still…just how much did you shelter your son for him to be like this? Isn’t he such an embarrassment to your tribe that’s full of warriors known for their courage and bravery?” said Agani while his hideous transformation from earlier slowly disappeared and was replaced by a handsome face.
While the two leaders were discussing Rakin, the rest of the people were busy arranging the dead.
Surprisingly, no one from Rakin’s tribe died, and only a couple of them suffered heavy injuries from either a gash on their back or a large cut across their face, and the rest just suffered minor injuries.
While feeling a little bit better, Rakin noticed that the warriors tending to the wounded were using a bunch of weird herbs and used them as bandages to cover their injuries.
Which surprisingly stopped the bleeding.
Curious to see what was happening, Rakin weakly looked over to them with a curious look on his face.
‘I don’t recognize any of them’
Rakin thought when he saw that he didn’t recognize any of the herbs that were used.
And while that was happening, a group of women suddenly appeared from the path that Rakin and the others took earlier, and carrying with them are weaved baskets containing something inside.
“Rakin!”
A disturbed and worried voice quickly called out to Rakin, and the latter slowly turned his head around towards where the voice came from and saw a group of women, among them is Mirena who’s running over towards him with a worried look on her face.
“Are you okay?!”
Minera stood before Rakin and cupped his cheeks with her hands as she turned his head from side to side, inspecting his somewhat dirty looking face for any signs of injuries.
Rakin was immediately dumbfounded as he wasn’t expecting that from Minera, then he blushed from embarrassment as it has been a while since a woman was this close to him, especially when he smelled that refreshing fragrance coming from the woman before him.
“I-it’s fine, I’m okay!” Rakin replied, and he couldn’t help but raise his tone so as to conceal that bashful look on his face.
Kapow!
With a dark and playful grin on her face, Minera suddenly drilled her fist on Rakin’s abdomen, and the latter's eyes bulged out in pain, and his body bent like a prawn as Rakin held his stomach, before slowly dropping to the ground with a horrified look on his face!
‘Just what…the heck just happened?’
“Now just lie down and let me take a look at you, okay~?”
Minera squatted down beside Rakin while whispering to him in a voice chilling tone.
And Rakin could only helplessly look at her in horror as the pain on his stomach still hasn’t subsided while thinking inside, ‘You…you’re actually a damn devil in human skin!’
As the pain from his stomach assaulted him, it finally made him realize something, ‘F*ck, so this is the reason why I always felt like I needed to keep my distance away from you, damn memories!’
Agani who had witnessed everything couldn’t help but swallow his saliva, “I knew it, building an alliance with your tribe was a really a good choice by my great grandfather”
Darisay was looking at his son helplessly with the corner of his eye twitching, “Yeah, even I’m surprised sometimes. That Minera…I really wonder whom she takes after?”
