When he went back in the cave, his sister was already waiting impatiently. Looking at him nervously, she asked him a question.
“So? How is it outside?”
“Pretty good, we have water close by, and we don’t seem to be in the territory of some apex predator.”
“Can we go hunting then?”
“…yes, follow me, but don’t get too exited, we have to be careful.”
“Okay!”
Not trusting her, he let her go first and followed close after her. When they went outside, she quickly looked around before dashing to the river, and drinking some water. To this, he could only shake his head, she barely seemed to care about danger. While they would grow up to be one of the strongest creatures in the world, at the moment they could even be killed by that horned rabbit if they weren’t careful, and his sister didn’t seem to care or understand this at al. Since she couldn’t fly with only one wing, they slowly began searching for prey instead of letting her train to fly, the wing would grow back over the years, but for now there was no chance for her to learn it.
After some time, they found another horned rabbit, he quickly killed it in the same way he did with the last. When he was about to start eating though, he saw his sister also approached and was about to take a bite. He immediately used his tail to flick her snout and gave a warning growl. His sister remembered their agreement and backed of while sulking.
He quickly finished eating the rabbit before moving on with his sister in tow. An hour later, they found two other rabbits, one bigger than the others he had encountered so far. Looking at his sister, he gave her an order.
“You act as a decoy and take the smaller one, I’ll ambush the big one, understood?”
“Yes!”
“Keep quit dumbass!”
But it was already too late, the horned rabbits heard them and came charging at them. While his sister panicked, he quickly climbed in a tree and jumped on the back of the big one when it went past him. When he tried to bite in its neck to finish it of, it quickly changed course and slammed its back against a tree, sandwiching him in between. Because of this, he had to let go. Giving the rabbit a chance to take some distance and charge again.
‘Shit, this one is smarter than the others, but still, I’m bigger than him and should be able to overpower him.’
Boy was he wrong, using the tree to shoot himself towards the rabbit, he almost instantaneously closed the distance and slammed his claws at the side of its head. Though this action startled the rabbit and push the horn to the side, it still crashed against him with the force of its strong hind legs propelling it forward. When they collided, all the air was pushed out his lungs from the impact, still, he was able to quickly jump away before deciding flying was a better choice. Straining his wings, he took of and flew above the rabbit, before diving down on it and breaking its spine under his weight.

Finally having some rest, he looked how his sister was doing. It seemed like she also finished her fight a little bit earlier, she just took the smaller ones horn to the chest and then bit down on it. Though, this turned out to be a bad idea, as the horn was quite sharp and was able to pierce her scales, making a wound in her chest. She was lucky dragons didn’t have hearts or she could have been badly wounded instead of it just being a small bleeding hole. Yes, dragons don’t have hearts, their veins have small parts attached to them that keep the blood pumping, taking away a fatal weakness most races had, they also didn’t have brains, they controlled their bodies directly with their soul and also stored their memories in their soul, it was because of this dragons have such a good memory. Instead of brains, they usually have a magic core, condensed mana, in the place a creatures brain would normally be.
Looking at her pitiful state, he tore of a hind leg of the big rabbit and ate it, before preparing to drag it back to their nest with him. When he noticed his sister wasn’t making a move though, he paused for a moment.
“What are you waiting for? A predator to snatch our prey?”
“uhm, c-can I also eat something?”
She looked scared like he was about to get angry at her for asking this, but he just answered her with an annoyed look.
“I’m full for the moment, so you can eat the small rabbit, I’m going to take this one with me to eat later, now hurry up and let’s go”
Hearing his answer, her expression immediately brightened and she quickly ate the whole rabbit like she was afraid he would take it from her. To this he only rolled his eyes, he gave her his word, he wouldn’t go back on it or it would be a stain on his pride. They continued towards their nest until she suddenly came closer to him. He warily observed her actions, but didn’t do anything against it.
“Thank you for the food! You really are the greatest!”
He could almost see her eyes sparkle when she said this while looking at him with an adorable expression, but already expecting this, he answered her coldly.
“You aren’t getting this one, give it up.”
“Damn it… was it that obvious?”
“Yes, and you should look out during your next fight, if you keep getting wounded like that you will have to expend too much energy healing it every time and get hungry too fast.”
“Yes, you don’t have to point it out like that, I learned my lesson and wasn’t planning on making the same mistake twice, what are you? My mom?”
“No, your daddy.”
“Huh? Aren’t we siblings?”
“Ah, you haven’t checked that part of your Ancestral knowledge yet? Shame, humanity has some fun customs…”
She only looked at him with a confused face, then he saw her concentrate, and he knew she was accessing her Ancestral knowledge. After a little while, he saw her suddenly blushing heavily.
“Ve-very funny of you.”
When he saw her face get a shade darker like that, and heard her stammering like that, he bursted out laughing at her expense. She could only look at him angrily, which only made him laugh more. When he finally calmed down, they continued towards their nest. On the way he looked at his sister from the corner of his eye, and he coincidently noticed her tail slightly swaying back and forth.
‘Ah, so she DID find it funny! Shame she refuses to admit it though, whatever…’
Without commenting on her behavior, they made their way back to the nest safely. When they arrived, he took the rabbit inside to eat it in peace and rest a little bit.
He then took a light nap to deal with his exhaustion, since the forced coma didn’t refresh him in any way. While sleeping, he suddenly woke up and saw his sister sneaking up to him. He slightly opened one eye and growled at her. Startled, she ran back to the other side of the cave and curled herself up, she fell asleep after looking at him one last time.
‘As I thought, she still thinks she has a chance to backstab me, should I just kill her now and be over with it?’
