Welcome to the first information chapter.
As the actual story relies heavily on how much one knows about this world and Moon Channel, information chapters will be released from time to time instead of a story chapter.
These chapters serve to enrich your experience, but can be skipped if you are more interested in action and less on how things work or why certain abnormalities exist.
Present day M-chan:
As of the time before this war, Moon Channel consists of three groups of denizens.
The first are natives. Some appear to be completely human, while the rest are demi-humans. That’s right. Humans with animal parts like cat ears and tail. This group have no supernatural abilities whatsoever, and are significantly fewer in numbers compared to the other two groups.
The second are the generated. More commonly referred to as NPC (Non-playable character). This is due to the particular power of one individual, who is able to create “humans”.
Due to his fetishes, the kind that are created in mass numbers are mostly the various kinds of females found in visual novels. Of course, quite a few are accompanied by their families and “side characters”, resulting in a wide variety of males being created as well.
One point to note is that when any generated dies, they die as normal humans do. Meaning they do not come back to life and basically are never the same as they were before even if “regenerated”.
The third are the former BT military. Also known as true denizens, these people have all gained some ability of some sort. These abilities ranged from physical to mental to supernatural.
An example for each would be godlike combat ability, superior learning ability, and creating items out of thin air. This said, not all have a particularly ability, meaning apparently redundant ones exist too.
In terms of population size, the NPCs are the largest group, followed by true denizens, and lastly natives.
This is true for the current area of land that has been explored and developed by M-chan. There are still places beyond that many have yet to venture to, which may consist of even more types of denizens.
Types of NPCs:
As mentioned, the generated are modeled after characters found in visual novels and so on. Or rather, fictional characters with some idealistic traits in their nature.
Although proven to be changeable over time, their main traits are often more dominant so forcing a change is typically rare.
Following the Japanese naming convention and short forms, the following types are rather common.
[*-dere]
With the asterisk denoting a prefix, “dere” is the term “in love” with an individual. When in love, the prefix suggest how that NPC will behave towards their target.
[tsundere]
“tsun” implies the NPC in love will act stubborn towards the target, For example, saying things like “It’s not like I did it for you!” and so on.
[yandere]
“yan” implies obsession. This type is highly dangerous as they are often likely to do crazy things in the name of love, ranging from stalking their target to killing for them and more. This type is looked upon fondly by the military, with experiments on using them for battles.
[var-dere]
An M-chan specific term. “var” mean variable, or varies. This type have little or no consistency found in common types, making them highly unpredictable when in love. Perhaps due to an error in creation, the military still employs them, but bans them from the love subject.
[mayadere]
A specific type of tsundere. This type is known to fall in love with an enemy which they are trying to kill, causing them to change erratically as they have inner conflicts about killing their target or leaving them alive.
[loli]
This one refers to a female having the physical appearance of a little girl, regardless of age.
While the true denizens do consider going for underage girls morally wrong as most do, some are not as young as they appear to be or even under the contention of not being actual people due to them being NPCs.
Due to their ridiculously large numbers after being “generated”, and true denizens infighting of whether to kill off the majority of orphans, most of them have been put under military training to form companies of their own.
[pettanko]
Practically means loli. It means flat chested woman in Japanese.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
[oppai]
Meaning breast in Japanese, this term will be commonly used in this war due to the obsession with them of a specific individual.
This said, to each their own preferences, so true denizens generally do not judge.
There are many other types of NPCs, but we will stop here for now.
The following two terms are some other non-related but will be commonly used.
[hentai]
Meaning pervert in Japanese, it is also commonly known as animated Japanese pornography.
[yaoi]
Meaning gay or male homosexuality, its implications are exactly what you can imagine.
Religions/Spiritual beliefs:
All true denizens of M-chan believes in the power of Eros, meaning eroticism.
Hailing it as a divine power, they believe that all forms of Eros should be accepted, and anyone who believes otherwise to be infidels.
While the degree of belief varies amongst them, the general consensus remains as long as their specific sore spots are left untouched.
Consequently, all denizens understands this as well and mostly abide it too.
Moon Channel’s military:
Despite being separated from BT, a majority of true denizens have not decided on how they want to live their life in M-chan.
Hence, most of them remain officially in military ranks or choose to work as freelancers. The latter are known as mercenaries.
Those who choose to give up their military duties completely and not combat related careers are treated as regular civilians.
It is also important to note that more than half of the NPCs and even some natives have joined the military as M-chan is still a mostly military controlled country, caused by the disinterest in more commonly used methods of governance.
