Chapter 7

Mia:

I hugged him, and with my best puppy eyes, I said, "Hubby, what do you mean, leave you? I know I made mistakes in the past and messed up a lot of times, but I will be good now. Please, please don't lock me up, okay hubby?" I went on my tiptoes and kissed him on the chin. It was a little funny since I couldn't reach further; Tobias was very tall.

I was looking at him and waiting for his answer that would decide the course of our future together.

His whole body shook, his eyes wandering everywhere except at me. He was trying to avoid my eyes. That's so cute! He was shy! I couldn't believe he had such a cute side. I was so used to his cruel and ruthless side, but that was my fault.

"Say that again," he said quietly.

I looked at him with a questioning look. What did he want me to repeat? But I said the first thing that popped into my mind. With a smile on my face, I called him hubby once again.

"That won't do," was his answer.

I then pulled him down and gave him a quick peck on the lips and giggled.

He looked at me in disbelief, took a second to realize what just happened, but then grabbed me and gave me a passionate kiss. I responded to it, and I let his tongue dominate mine. When our lips parted, I was out of breath, trying to get some air. I didn’t expect him to do that. I composed myself and asked, "How about now? Is it good enough?"

"Yes, it is, but don't meet Lucas ever again," is all he said.

Lucas? He was the last thing on my mind after the steaming kiss with Tobias. I blushed and just said with a smiling face, "Okay, hubby, I won't."

Tobias sighed and started patting me on my head. After a few seconds, he looked me in my eyes and said, "Mia, I will trust you just one more time. This is the last time," and he grabbed me by my throat, stopping me from breathing. "You'd better not betray me ever again," he said, releasing his grip on my neck and started walking away quickly.

I put my hand on my throat, trying to massage it and breathe properly; it hurt a lot. His grip was so damn strong.

I could see that I was still a long way from getting his trust back. But that won't stop me from trying, no matter how much I need to try. I will.

I went back into the house. I waited and waited for hours for him to come back home; I was worried. Where was he? Why is he still not back? I used to dread the moment of his return, but now I couldn't wait for him to come back home. This second chance at life is messing me up, but I'm slowly trying to get used to it.

All of a sudden, my phone rang. I took it out and looked at the screen. Mom. Damn.

I answered the phone with a hello.

"Mia Parker! You worthless scum! You've got some nerve! HOW DARE YOU HIT LEAH??? Get to the hospital RIGHT NOW!!! If anything happens to Leah, you'll pay for it!" she was screaming on the phone. I stayed calm and just said, "Okay, I will come now."

I hung up, sighed, got up, took my stuff and left for the hospital where Leah and Mom were. This won't be fun.
