Ever since my vision with the goddess Celestia I've fallen into a routine of daily tasks. Cooking, cleaning, polishing my equipment, and flying Leeda to school. As I do these tasks I find my mind wondering back to my original goal, finding my people and getting everyone back home.
After spending the morning cleaning and preparing meals for the next couple days I decide to relax, turning on the video screen and sitting down. Good ol' GNN, galactic news network, your one stop shop for bad news and momentary panic.
Seems the human patrol navy fought some pirates and rescued some... slaves.
That part in particular doesn't really surprise me much more, what does though is the headline "Red cross takes in survivors of all known races and one unknown."
Upon reading that and seeing who steps off the white ship with red cross painted on i nearly fall forward out of my seat. One of my old neighbors from before heading off to the imperial college of mages. As she stares into the camera, and thus my own eyes, I recognize her immediately. She's the only one in our village with black feathers.
I immediately grab my data pad and open the extranet to look for a cheap ship before immediately closing it out.
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
If nobody has found it yet, then I can go to the facility out in the wilderness and claim salvage rights. Yes the only ship there was crashed but it wasn't very high up or moving very fast so maybe it's intact.
With that plan, or at least loose idea of what to do, I dawn my white robes, polished armor, and weapons before taking to the wing. It should only take a couple hours.
Once I get there I land out front I look for any signs. After thirty minutes of searching I find no posted notice. So I grab my pad and stake my claim for the ship, base, and everything within before piling the dead outside the walls with a tarp covering them. I then get a text stating that a salvage agent will arrive shortly and so I wait.
It doesn't take very long before a shuttle arrives and a pale skinned human male in grease stained clothing disembarks to greet me.
"You Arcadia?" He asks in a bored tone.
"Yes that is me. Is there anything you need before starting?"
"Naw, just gotta make sure you are who you say. Just need to run your information and have you sign some paperwork. Hmmm. Clean record. Bounty hunter for like three dayum days. Alright just sign here and I'll give you the signs to put up and send you some documents."
And just like that I now own everything in this base. I pay the man his fee plus extra to move the wreck to a spot in the walls for maintenance.
Noticing the security pads on the walls I make the executive decision to break in and cover the door with some metal scrap. I mean who is gonna respond to an alarm in an empty base.
After melting a door down and finding a security station I get to work disarming it all before realizing I don't know how and just hitting the big off switch and going for a casual wonder.
There's a lot of rooms full of equipment that I don't understand what's what. I'm definitely gonna need to find some people to help. So I go out to the ship and start looking around it. It seems mostly intact, but it seems to be out of fuel.
Maybe I can go to town and hire someone to help me fix it up and figure out that security system. But that can be a problem for tomorrow. For now I should seal the hole I made and get Leeda home from school.
