Elliot and Zeke head to find the experiment rooms. They walk in silence and Elliot glances at Zeke.
“What do you want, Princess?”
Elliot turns away. “I was curious about something… Why do you care so much for this girl? I mean, you barely know her.” Elliot asks cautiously. Zeke stops walking and looks down at the floor.
“It’s like you said, I can’t protect anyone. She… sigh, she trusted me and reminded me of someone I used to know.” Zeke answers and continues to walk into a room.
He actually answered my question. No smart remarks? Elliot thinks to himself and follows Zeke into the room. They peak through the window.
“No guards. Should be safe,” Zeke says. The room is full of lab equipment and has another room with a one-way glass window.
“Look! This is where they would test our abilities. They sat here and would watch us like we were entertainment.” Elliot says, sitting in the chair. He scans through the files. Zeke walks towards him and hunches over his shoulder.
“Find anything?”
“Yep. Right here. Elinora. That’s Rue’s surname, right?” Elliot asks.
“Yea, that's it, but,” Zeke grabs the paper, “who’s Edme?” He questions.
“It says here she was the hero of Ovidinia? Edme was known for her unique heka abilities. Unfortunately, she died in battle against a Daunt association.” Elliot reads. “You don’t think this woman is Rue’s-”
Zeke quickly says, “We’re not here for history lessons. We gotta hurry up.” He stands up, facing the one-way window. Suddenly, a person turns looking at Zeke. Zeke is taken by surprise and stands as still as possible.
“Princess…” he gets Elliot's attention. Elliot looks up from the chair and is also surprised.
“Can they see us?” Elliot whispers. Zeke shakes his head and attempts to stay quiet. Elliot slowly stands up and signals to Zeke. He walks into a closet, and Zeke follows. As they close the closet door, a man walks into the room.
“I could’ve sworn I heard voices?” Joris says.
“I don’t see anyone. Maybe it was the other workers?” One scientist speculates.
“Could be.” Joris pauses, looking around. “Or it could be an intruder?” He says, standing with his hands behind his back.
“Don’t be ridiculous, sir. No one would be stupid enough to break into this Daunt base,” The scientist says. A guard approaches the room carrying Rue. He throws her on the ground in the testing room.
“Her heka is off the charts, sir. She demonstrated magnificently this morning,” the scientist says, commending Rue. Joris takes a seat close to the closet where Elliot and Zeke are.
“Oh, this is exciting! More thrilling than working for that mindless mayor.” Joris takes a sip of his drink.
“She’s ready when we are,” the scientist says, sitting at a computer.
“Bring in the other test subject,” he commands. The guard walks out with another man and throws him on the ground in the same room as Rue. Zeke and Elliot sweat, watching the events unfold. Zeke slowly reaches for the door wanting to attack Joris, but Elliot grabs his hand.
“What are you doing? Stay still and QUIET!” Elliot whispers. Zeke listens and continues to watch the experiment.
“Ok, Ruin, just like we practiced,” the scientist says. Rue stays on the ground bleeding through her bandages.
“Oh my! Can she even stand?” Joris puts his hand over his mouth. Zeke looks at Rue and is furious. Elliot shakes his head, convincing Zeke not to do something stupid.
“Ruin! Don’t forget your punishment if you don’t behave!” he reminds her of the pain she’ll be in. Rue stands up, panting.
“TRANSFER RECALL,” she yells as she throws her hands at the man on the ground.
“No, please,” he begs. He screams as blood splatters everywhere.
“I see! She can transfer how her pain feels to another person! Amazing memory heka!” Jori says, standing up and praising Rue.
“I don’t need to see more. Take her to the medical room.”
“But, sir! We have more to show you!” he pleads.
“That man over there is dead. If she has that much pain, she can’t perform more, correct?”
“Yes, sir,” the scientist says, upset. “Let’s take Ruin to the medical room,” he says, walking out to where Rue is.
“That girl.” Joris smiles. “Amazing,” he pauses. “Isn’t she?” he turns to the closet, making eye contact with the two. Zeke and Elliot are both startled.
“MAGNET DRAW!” Joris shouts. Suddenly Elliot and Zeke are pulled by Joris. They get thrown through the door to Joris. He punches Elliot first, then grabs Zeke by the throat.
“Did you really think you could sneak in here unnoticed? FORCE IMPELL!!” Joris throws Zeke through the one-way window, breaking it. Zeke rolls on the floor, and the scientists around them begin to retreat. Rue spots Zeke.
“ZEKE!” She yells and coughs up blood.
“RED! Don’t worry, I’m gonna get you-”
“Get who, Zekey? HAHA!” Shura interrupts him.
“Joker. What are you doing here?” Zeke stands up, brushing the glass of his clothes. Joris walks towards Zeke through the broken window.
“I wouldn’t worry about that now, Zeke Herlana,” Joris says.
“Before you kill him, Joris, there's something you should know. He's on our side.” Shura smirks. “He’s the reason we were able to catch Ruin here. Isn’t that right?” He looks at Zeke, smiling. Elliot teleports to Shura and punches him, sending him flying to the wall.
“Elliot! Cough! Cough!” Rue yells.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Don’t say anything, Rue! Zeke and I will-” Zeke knocks out Elliot. Rue is shocked.
“Zeke, why did you-” she coughs more blood up.
“This wasn't part of our deal!” Zeke says, walking to Shura.
“Deal?” Rue says to herself, remembering what Shura told her. “So it’s true?” She tears up and faints. Zeke doesn’t hear her and continues with Shura.
“You weren’t supposed to do anything yet!”
“Now, Zekey, we had an opportunity, and we took it,” Shura replies smiling and talking with his hands.
“I see, so what you say is true, Shura.” Joris walks to Zeke.
“Don’t get the wrong idea.” Zeke’s heka begins to pour out.
“I don’t like this part,” Shura says quietly, hiding away in the shadows. Joris examines Zeke and says,
“Ah, so you are not on our side-”
“CRYSTAL DEMOLITION!” BOOM! BOOM! Explosions go off around Joris and his hit.
“I wasn’t expecting that. You’re stronger than you look.” Joris says. His wound is already healed from earlier, too, I wonder, he thinks to himself. “Zeke Herlana.” he calmly says.
“No more talking! CRYSTAL PULL” Zeke throws sharp crystals at Joris.
“I have one question for you,” Joris says, dodging his crystals. “Have you heard of the herb Angels Trumpet before?” Joris asks, catching Zeke’s attention.
“What of it?” Zeke responds and stops throwing his crystals.
“You experimented with it, didn’t you?” Jori's questions.
A flashback of Zeke wallowing in pain comes to his mind thinking of the Angel's Trumpet.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Zeke sends more explosions to Joris.
“FORCE IMPELL” Joris sends the explosions back to Zeke. Zeke evades them.
“You don’t need to be embarrassed. I've tested with many herbs as well. Not on myself, of course,” Joris says nonchalantly.
Zeke runs towards him, throwing a punch. Joris dodges and counters with a FORCE IMPELL. Sending Zeke flying, but he lands on his feet. Zeke begins to get annoyed.
“This guy can push and pull objects like a magnet. How should I do this?” Zeke says to himself. Joris uses a Force Impell to throw the broken glass at Zeke. Zeke uses a Crystal Wall to block him and makes another wall around Elliot and Rue.
“That’s a weakness you have. Protecting others.” Joris continues shooting broken glass at them all. Zeke quickly moves the two to a safe place and places a crystal shield so no one can reach them.
“You’re really pissing me off.” Zeke’s eyes begin to glow red.
“Not enough. Shura, bring in the other two.” Joris demands. Zeke clenches his fist as Shura brings out Kai and Nora, all beaten up.
“I’m sorry, Zeke-” Nora says, passing out.
“CRYSTAL WALL!” he shouts, forming a shield around them.
“I will kill you!” Zeke’s black heka is now visible to the eye. He quickly moves to Joris and pins him to the ground.
“Ah, so you do have the Black Heka. If the council found out about you, you’d be dead. FORCE IMPELL!” Joris tries to use his heka, but something’s off. Zeke punches Joris in the face multiple times.
“What’s wrong? Can't use your heka?” Zeke jokes. Joris pushes Zeke off him. His face is bleeding from Zeke’s punches.
“W-what did you do? What are you?” Joris asks, backing up from Zeke. Zeke jumps at Joris.
“This is what you wanted, right?” Zeke turns his palms facing each other and pushes inwards. “DIMENSIONAL IMPLOSION!” He yells.
“Wait, please, I’ll do anything!!!” Joris begs.
“Too late,” Zeke smirks as Joris’s organs implode. His blood splatters everywhere, and instantly dies. Shura watching from the ceiling corner, is too afraid to come out.
“I gotta get out of here, but Zeke, you are certainly interesting,” he says quietly.
Guards swarm and surround Zeke. Zeke effortlessly dodges them and counters. Each punch and kick is too fast for the eye to see. He easily defeats all of them. He looks at Shura and teleports with a kick, knocking him out of the corner.
“You broke our deal. Now you’ll be the one who gets punished,” he says, holding Shura's collar.
“Woah! Woah! Zekey, I was just following orders, you understand, right?” Shura says with a shaky voice.
Zeke holds his hand up. “DIMENSIONAL-”
“-I’ll tell you more about the Raca forest!” Shura says, stopping Zeke.
“We’re past that now, Joker. We’re done.” he throws Shura to the ground.
“Ouch! Then I'll tell you about Rue!” he says, stalling Zeke.
“What about her?” Zeke questions. Shura stands up and walks towards Zeke.
“You see, she’s the daughter of the country's hero, Edme Elinora. She’s the child who was presumed dead all those years ago.” Shura pleads, but Zeke’s not interested. He throws multiple crystal shards at Shura.
“Why should I care about any of this!” He lunges at Shura.
“Well…I'm her father.” Shura smirks, catching Zeke off guard. Shura quickly makes a heka circle before Zeke can land his punch.
“50% DEPLETION!” BOOM! An explosion goes off on Zeke, depleting 50% of his health.
“Haha! You fell for that one,” Shura laughs.
“I’m right here.” Zeke instantly appears behind Shura. “DIMENSIONAL DEMOLITION!” He sets off a giant explosion. BOOM! Zeke's attack hits Shura, and falls to the ground. Zeke walks to Shura to make sure he's dead. He begins to pass out due to using too much of his heka. As Zeke’s battle ends, Owen's team is just arriving at the Daunt base.
BOOM! Owen and his team hear the explosions erupting.
“That’s definitely Zeke’s heka. I can feel it from here.” Cora says.
“We better hurry. I have a bad feeling about this.” Owen says, and the team rushes over to Zeke's group. When they arrive, all they see is destruction.
“ZEKE! Nash over here!” Owen yells. Nash runs to Owen and Zeke and attempts to heal them. Zeke opens his eyes.
“Dr. Olive?” Zeke says with hazy eyes.
“Zeke, don't worry. We’re here now.” Nash comforts him. Zeke moves Nash's hand away.
“What are you doing? You need medical attention.” Nash demands.
“Red! Heal Red,” Zeke says, giving Nash a potion and pointing to his crystal wall with everyone in it.
“Right! I’ll be back!” Nash runs to the group and begins healing Rue first with Zeke’s potion. Owen sits next to Zeke.
“You know, kid, you’re gonna be the end of me one day,” Owen says gratefully that Zeke is alive. Zeke laughs faintly.
“I’m sorry, Owen.”
“Save your energy, kid. We'll talk later.” Owen stands up.
“Cora, Dori, scope around and see if any enemies are left.”
“Yes, sir,” they leave the room.
“My poor Zeke! Are you alright?” Amina asks with tears in her eyes.
“I’ll be better once I’m away from you,” Zeke says, teasing her.
“Why are you all so mean to me!”
Owen laughs and takes a deep breath. He picks up a communication device to call the council until…
“HAHAHA!” Shura stands back up and howls. Owen is startled and turns to see Shrua summoning multiple monsters.
“This here is my army of monsters. Do you think you can handle them all? Lost squad. Haha!” Shura disappears, leaving the army of monsters to attack the Lost Haven team. BOOM! A massive explosion goes off around the Lost Haven members. Everything in the entire Shadow Daunt base is destroyed. As the air clears, not a soul is in sight. All that’s left is Owen’s communication device contacting the Great Council. Beep…Beep…Beep…
