Day 8
I’m going to start working with the basic combination types and Feed item types. Another explanation is needed for the Feed item types. The research done by many evolutionists before me were not in vain. Many Feed types Slimes were found to be extremely useful in terms of improvement of equipment or production of high ranked tools. The research found a Slimes diet can cause a change in their structure. This seems to be a reaction to their environment. You see Slimes tend to eat what's in front of them with little concern of how dangerous it is. Typically they find things that are most common in the area. The researchers believed that this was a way for the Slimes to adapt to their environment. For example Slimes in an open field with only grass to feed on would eventually take the form of a Grass Slime, growing spikes on top of their body while they take on a shade of green in the process. Or like the Rock Slimes in the cave, they gain a protective suit of stone armor on top of their form once they can sustain a steady diet of rocks.
All of this may seem super useful, however some materials have a much lower level of success than others. There is also the differences Red Slimes and Blue Slimes have when comparing what they can consume. Blue Slimes have a hard time feeding on things like rocks and metal, while Red Slimes have a hard time feeding on things like trees and grass. Anything living has mana, so Blue Slimes with their weak defense can absorb it. Red Slimes on the other hand can absorb the properties of materials due to their low physical resistance. This helps to strengthen the Slimes a lot. The Slime absorbs the properties of the opposite spectrum while feeding, giving them both Physical and Magical Resistance. Let me give you an example. Say a Pink Slime feeds on lots of rocks and eventually becomes a Rock Slime. Now not only did it keep its previous High Magic Resistance, but also Its Physical Damage Resistance was raised by the properties of the Rock. This increase in defence can easily raised a Slimes rank by a whole level.
So for now i’ll stop feeding the Basic Slimes Neutral Mana and get them started with a fine appetizer of Healing potion for the blue Slime, and Iron for the Red Slime. I’ll be testing five at a time.
This might take longer than expected. I’ll go for a cave run and continue the log if something happens.
So I’m at the cave. Something seems wrong. The Slimes appear to be avoiding an area of the cave wall. I’ll investigate and report what I find.
Now that I’ve gotten a closer look not all the Slimes are avoiding the wall. It looks like some Rocks Slimes are madly pounding their body against the cave wall. This is kind of creepy. They’re literally killing themselves by smashing their bodies apart.
Wait It looks like another species joined in. Oh, this is something. It's a Metal Slime. This is a big chance.
I’ve done it. I needed to use one of my Freeze Spell Crystals to keep it from smashing itself to death, however it was well worth. Mind you this isn’t just a simple Iron Slime. This is a Slime whose entire composition is made from the pure essence of metal. The Iron slime would probably hold a fiftieth of the essence found within this guy.
The Slime are still bashing themselves against that wall. They are digging down by the looks of it. I’ve never heard of Slimes working together to this extent. They look like they have a goal. I don’t think Slimes have the capacity to have this level of coordination. It looks more like a Giant Ant colony than a Slime dungeon at this point.
Another one! Another metal slime. Only if these guys could breed together I would have just become a millionair.
Got it. I’ll keep grabbing them as long as this lasts.
Wow that was something. In total I got five Metal Slimes. These guys are miniature treasures on their own. The cost for just the membrane of these little guys is around ten gold. The cores go for upwards of one hundred to two hundred gold. No matter what metal is used in the crafting of an object these cores can increase the hardness or flexibility by two to three times their original.
There haven't been anymore metal slimes for awhile. I'm going back to camp to check the results of the Feeding types. The log will continue when I get there.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
So far so good. Around two Red Slimes and three Blue Slimes are starting to show evidence of the evolution process. One more day of feeding and those five should be all ready. Ones core has already started to change color. Quite the “exciting” process. I think I can focus on other experiments now. I'm going to attempt to implement one of the alchemy recipes I picked up back at town. A weakening potion should help with deciding which slime is the parent. We don’t want the Metal Slimes to die so i'm going to first experiment with the Mossy Slimes and Rock Slimes. For these experiments i’ll have the Mossy Slime be the surviving Slime.
This time I’ll have a barrier set up for safety.

Well that’s unexpected. I thought the first time I made a Rock Moss Slime was a fluke. Judging by the results there must be some kind of instability issue with the two combining with the Mossy Slime being the incubator. After each failure the core within the Mossy Slime became unstable and exploded sending small hard green rock shards hitting towards the barrier I set up. After picking up the shard I made my way over to the beaker I had prepared with the shards left over from the first explosion. What I found was the beaker turned into a fist sized pile of green stone. I Picked out the stone with my fingers to find the test tube fully intact. This could make a good preservative agent if applied right. More testing will have to be done with this.
Anyway this is more than enough proof to start testing with the Metal Slimes. Let the fun begin. There isn’t much Data on the ability gained through metal slime breeding so I’ll test two of each species. I will be killing off one Metal Slime to allow the injector to pierce their membrane.

As expected. Next are the Item type Slimes.

Strange nothing happened. The core didn’t even react to the other core. After the Condensidosi wore off the Slime just spit it out like normal. Back to testing

Metal Slime + Rock Slime(Weakened)

Survivor - Metal Slime x2
Offspring - Metal Ore Slime x2
---
Well that was unexpected. To think you could get a better item type from the combination of an item and elemental Slime. Maybe it has something to do with the relation between the two. Maybe it has to do with the Rock Slime being an item type. Eh, there's no worth thinking over it.
I think i’ll take a risk for this next one.

Metal Slime + Spiked Rock Slime(Weakened)

Survivor - Metal Slime
Offspring - Sharp Metal Ore Slime
---
That was… also unexpected. A sharp ore. Usually the sharp enchantment can be added to weapons to increase the sharpness. This sharpness on the other hand seems to be imbued into the ore itself. I wonder if I melt the ore would the metal keep the sharpness attribute. This guy looks like it eats Iron Ore. so I should be able to do some test once it grows enough on his body. Next.

I’m lucky to be alive. The Experiment was a failure. A lot of my equipment is damaged including myself. It looks like something similar to what happened between the Rock Slime and Mossy Slime. After it formed some Green metallic substance on the outside of the Metal Slime core it blasted out in a violent reaction. One Of the fragments have embedded itself into my leg. It looks like it’s not coming out either. The amount of force required to get through three layers of mana barrier is ridiculous. I need to get to town and get a healer. I’ll report when i get there.
I’m getting tired I don’t know if I can make it. My leg stopped working. I don’t have time. I need to set up a barrier and sleep here.
If I die, to anyone who finds this Log, give it to the Deen of the Academy of The Birtha Kingdom. I’m sure you would be given a large reward.
I’m so tired…
I’ll continue the log if I wake up.
