Chapter 5

After getting his patron god and sparring with Sullivan Relics life settled into a consistent pattern. He worked on his blacksmithing all day with Rex, repairing all the beginner weapons and making some of the lower level items. At night, once the smithy closed, Relic went out and learned basic swordsmanship from the instructor at the training hall. During this time Relic also examined his stats.

After two weeks of working only on his sword skills and his blacksmithing ability, it was time for Relic to join Frankie in the knights training program. They got there early in the morning but they were still the last group of recruits. Once they got there, they were combined into four groups of four, which would compete against each other during the knight training.

Frankie and Relic were paired with two girls named Charlotte and Sam. Sam was the talkative one of the pair and she did all of the talking for their group while Frankie did the same for Relic and him. After they had talked for a while their instructor called them over and gave them basic equipment, and the first mission they had to complete.

They had to go outside the city, and bring back the pelts of three of the weaker monsters to learn each other’s strengths and weakness as well as prove that they were able to fight monsters without giving into their fear.

As soon as the got out of the city Frankie led them to the newbie training ground where hundreds of peaceful looking rabbits were nibbling on grass. Relic saw Frankie walking up to a Rabbit with sword in hand and said

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“This can’t possible be the training ground can it? These rabbits couldn’t hurt anyone.”

Frankie, already used to Relics ignorance, just told him to try fighting one before he decided that they couldn’t train here.

After this Relic reluctantly walked towards a group of rabbits with sword in hand. He silently walked up to one from behind and raised his sword, but he just couldn’t bring himself to hurt a defenseless and cute rabbit. He started to yell this to Frankie, but as soon as he made noise the rabbit turned around sprung straight for his face. The rabbit had bloodshot eyes, foam coming out of its mouth, and claws so large that Relic was amazed that he had not been able to see them from behind. Relic was so shocked he didn’t even react and allowed the rabbit to claw his face. He only took four damage, but the scratches hurt a surprising amount. The rabbit jumped at him again, but this time he spun to the side and while swinging his sword and managed to hit the rabbit while it was in mid-air. The rabbit fell cleanly in two parts, and Relic walked back to the rest of the group.

With Relics reservations gone the group killed all the Rabbits that were too stupid to run away in about thirty minutes and decided that they could move on to the next animal.

In the next two hours they hunted foxes and a strange type of wild goat, before returning to their instructor.

As soon as they got back and told the instructor they were done he replied

“Hmmm. So it only took you three hours to learn all of each others strengths and weaknesses? I not even going to start on the proving your bravery part.”

And then Relic saw the glint in the instructors eyes and though that coming back so soon might have been a horrible mistake.

Other stuff.

This was short but im just getting back so they will be longer later

Since I am going to be using my own universe these are the basic stat systems I am going to use. I am going to change them as necessary but I wanted a decent base. If you see any problems in the stat table or how I got attack defense etc please tell me. All advice is appreciated. Also I hope it will be getting a little more interesting now that I have set up the base for the story.

The next installment will be coming out in a random amount of time

Also thanks to Ninnin for helping me out with the stat table.

Melee Attack= ¼ strength plus skill and weapons bonuses

Defense= ¼ perseverance plus skill and armor

Health = vitality*5 plus bonuses

Mana = wisdom*5 plus bonuses

Magic damage= spell damage

Spell and skill Success rate is determined by intelligence

Every point below the required level drops success by 2%

Every point above raises by two percent maxing out at 20% above the base with the rest of success rate coming from practicing the skill/ spell

Health recovery is 10 per minute plus ¼ perseverance and bonuses

Mana recovery is 10 per minute plus ¼ wisdom

Agility increases dodge chance- dodge chance based on difference between your and opponents agility

Base 5% increases by ½ % by each level higher in agility

Can max out depending on weapon/skill being used
