Elizabeth looked through her status update evidently satisfied, when out of nowhere, “Elizabeth, I know this might seem like a pointless warning, but I need you to listen to me very carefully.” Though she couldn’t be seen, it was easy to imagine how dark Persephone’s expression was by the grim tone of her voice.

“Oh? What’s wrong?” Elizabeth couldn’t be more confused. Was this not the time to be celebrating her ascension into the Spirit Realm? What could cause her usually indifferent sponsor goddess to speak so darkly?

“Now that you’re in the Spirit Realm and your Spiritual Sea has been unlocked, it’s important to know your limits. This is unmistakably tied to the reason that you’ve not been able to read too much into some methods and instead just see the label ‘REDACTED’ in their Status.”

“Ok? What is that supposed to mean?” With such a vague response it was only natural for Elizabeth to not understand.

“Just… review one of your cultivation method’s Spirit Realm section and you’ll understand. Though, I can’t stress enough that you should read SLOWLY and from the most simple instructions to those that are complex.”

Squinting her eyes skeptically, Elizabeth pulled out the scroll which contained the [Forsaken Continuum Baptism] and carefully reread the section for those in the Spirit Realm. Though she had returned the scroll to her father in Sharktop Island, Kurt had once more put the scroll in her hands during the last time they met. After hearing that she planned on breaking through to the Spirit Realm in the Shadow Realm after the week long boot camp, he insisted on leaving the scroll in her hands.

At that time, Elizabeth couldn’t understand the reason. She had already memorized the contents of the scroll where Persephone had activated her Eidetic Memory. Now, however, the reason was slowly starting to unfold before her very eyes as the same scroll looked completely different before her spiritual sense. The words on the scroll might have remained the same, but each word was like a magic rune with hundreds and thousands of subtle changes highlighted before her spiritually augmented sight.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Even as she read ‘slowly’ Elizabeth nearly collapsed from overdrawing her soul as she tried to peer deeper into the cultivation method. The profound meaning held behind the rune-like words literally shook her Spiritual Sea like a seismic shift in the earth, causing tumultuous waves to threaten the very foundation of its existence.

After putting down the scroll in her hand and gathering her bearings Elizabeth shuddered as she realized that she hadn’t even managed to read a hundredth of the cultivation method. The Spirit Realm Section of the [Forsaken Continuum Baptism] method had three layers and of the first layer, she hadn’t even managed to read 5%. Thinking about the consequences had she carelessly read through the more advanced sections, Elizabeth paled.

“W-what was that?” She asked Persephone.

“Congratulations, you’ve taken the first step to understand how precious your cultivation methods are.” Just like that, Persephone returned to her usual self. “It’ll be like this for all the methods you’ve acquired that are at or above Spirit Grade, so remember to study carefully.” After getting Elizabeth up to speed, Persephone returned to perpetual silence.

Left to discover the intricacies of her cultivation methods by herself, Elizabeth used almost half an hour to review them. In the end, she couldn’t help but smile helplessly. In truth, she was already at her best with the [Forsaken Continuum Baptism] as she possessed Good Affinity for Space, Time and Spacetime. Yet her best barely left her able to read a twentieth of her cultivation method’s first layer.

For methods like [Seraph’s True Nature] and [Recollection Of Minor Death Understanding] Elizabeth couldn’t begin cultivating the Spirit Realm sections as her Yin and Death Affinities had yet to reach Good Tier. Then, when comparing her [Forsaken Baptism Continuum] method, a Peak Spirit Grade Method, even if it threatened the line to the next highest grade, how could it compare in complexity with the methods of a Godking? She might only be studying the Spirit Realm sections of both methods, but when Elizabeth attempted to read through [Book of Ice and Fire], she could hardly cover a single page.

Fortunately it wasn’t all bad as Elizabeth quickly saw the opportunity in her lack of ability. She may not be able to read through the cultivation methods right now, but by overdrawing her soul force systematically and pondering over the mysteries each word held, it would only be a matter of time before she was capable of it. This was certainly left behind by the creators of the cultivation methods on purpose so that those that followed their legacy could better understand the mindset required to make the most out of them.

Unfortunately, this meant that Jade Slip Elizabeth left Tristan wouldn’t contain even a millionth of the true worth of the [Seraph’s True Nature] she carried as she naturally couldn’t replicate the intricacies of the words in the original scroll. All Tristan had were the plain words that described how to reach the end of the cultivation method; all the profound runes that would help him quickly reach that state were void in the Jade Slip.

Putting aside cultivating these methods, Elizabeth finally took the time to experiment with her newly unlocked methods. Intuitively, she knew how to summon her spiritual sense, and like wisps of invisible fog, the world around her began to reveal itself; becoming clearer than she had ever seen before. Wherever the spiritual sense went, be it the air or the earth, anything it came into contact with was related to Elizabeth as if she were studying it with an array of inspection tools. From magnification to sound amplification, everything scanned by her spiritual sense felt like it was right before her; despite the fact that her range made it so she could only scan things up to 50 meters away. Moreover, through her spiritual sense, it was possible for her to call the status of the things she came in contact with.

Giving her Spiritual Sea a once-over after it finally finished stabilizing revealed a promising future. The island that was her Soul Land was surrounded by a shallow sea of soul force, not even deep enough to cover a standing adult’s knees, but its width was several hundred meters from the coast. There might even be some cultivators in the Foundation Collapse Stage without a Spiritual Sea as developed as hers; but what else could you expect? She had been cultivating her soul since Chaos Requiem came into her possession; since she was in the Soldier Stage.

Finally, her Chaos Affinity had risen to true Trash Tier! It came for the same reason there was a qualitative difference between those in the Mortal Realm and those in the Spirit Realm; her newfound Spiritual Sea and hyper-condensed energy reserves allowed for its creation. With Base Grandmist now available to her, she could nurture her body and soul several times as efficiently as she could before. But more importantly, her Chaos Seals could be upgraded.

As constructs that she had originally filled with Fragmented Grandmist, they were just barely functioning; not even a trillionth of a billionth of their true potential was activated. Revitalizing her Chaos Seals with Base Grandmist would make their functions incomparable to their current state. Though before that, Elizabeth had to fill her 9th and final Chaos Seal with enough Fragmented Grandmist to awaken it. She hadn’t even completed the set, so it would be dangerous to attempt upgrading the part she already had. It was always best to keep things balanced, lest accidents occured down the road; this was doubly true for Elizabeth as a cultivator following the Path of Extreme Perfection.
