Prologue

Silence, all I could remember was the silence. A black stillness that totally encompassed me. Suddenly, a bright light shone, jousting me from my unconscious mind.

I opened my eyes and allowed the lights to hit them. Looking around, I see a crib surrounding me. Then memories burst through my consciousness.

‘Oh, I’m back.’

I controlled the memories of all the lives I’d lived. Sorting everything through mental power alone. This had become commonplace for a being as old as I. I looked around the room, trying to gauge my surroundings when I heard the door open. Two adults came into the room and stopped to look in my crib.

“How's he doing?” the man asked in a stern tone.

“He looks fine, the healers have assured a healthy child my lord.”

‘I can understand them’

It was a relief to realise that I knew the language. That meant I had been here before.

‘This reality is interesting’ I thought. It was one of the worlds where I forsook ultimate power in exchange for continuously building my knowledge. The physiology here was forgiving, and worked well with the energies that baptised it;s reality. It did not promise immortality, but a very long life can be easily achieved.

‘Magic, as I recall, is the main source of power. Everybody is birthed with a certain amount that can be built upon in different ways’ Huh, a lot of work to do then.

I looked at the people that had been silently watching me. taking in the details now. The man had what I would refer to as an above average, If generic, appearance. Blonde hair, blue eyes, handsome face that gave no details away. The woman looked much like what I would expect a matron to be. Plump, with greying hair and gentle eyes.

“What did she name my son?” the man asked.

“The mistress named the young master Solis, for she wishes him to shine like the sun” she replied.

“Impudent” he then looked at me.

“But she always was headstrong your mother, even when I bought her from the slaver.”

“My Lord!” “Enough! Take care of the boy, we shall see if he lives up to the name of this house, the name of Whitefyre”
