Birth

There is a village on the outskirts of an Empire called the Empire of Steel. This village sat near the border between the Empire of Steel and the Magic Empire. These two empires have been at odds for a long time but haven’t fought one another for centuries. This Village didn’t have a name but it was peaceful and they were self-sufficient. There was a large forest to the East of the Village and large fields filled with different crops surrounded the village.

The village held around 1200 people, many of which tended to the fields. The Sun was currently high up in the sky and in a house made of wood pain filled moans could be heard. Over an hour passed as the sounds continued drawing the attention of many but they didn’t investigate as they knew what was happening inside.

Soon silence overtook the house and soon the cries of a baby could be heard. More time passed and eventually two women left the house. Inside the house there were 5 rooms. The dining room which was connected to the kitchen, a storage room, a bathroom, and 2 bedrooms.

In the bedroom a woman could be seen lying on a bed with a baby drinking milk from her breasts. She held him gently and slowly rubbed his back. She had long dark purple hair, bright red eyes, and pointed ears. Her skin is similar to that of earth. A man with brown hair and green eyes sat in a chair by the bed. The woman looked exhausted but happy. They spoke to one another in low calming tones.

“ Have you thought of a name for him yet, Jakalyn? “

His eyes left the baby that had dark red hair and purple eyes. His skin similar to earth like his mother's. Jackalyn, the baby’s mother, closed her eyes as she let her body relax. The man stayed silent as he sat there. Minutes passed before the woman eventually spoke.

“ Sacris Moon. “

The man looked at her with confusion evident on his face.

“ Why Sacris? “

“ It can be translated as sacred. I’m not sure if it’s a good name though. What do you think? “

The man went silent as he thought to himself.

“ Try to think of more names. There’s no reason to be too hasty about this. “

The woman nodded slowly as her eyes remained closed. Eventually her baby stopped drinking and soon fell asleep. His mother followed suit as she was mentally and physically exhausted.

The man sighed and got up from the chair. He went out to get water which didn’t take long. He washed himself and went out to the back of the house where there was a small garden. There were flowers that offered a variety of colors. In the middle of the garden there were 2 hammocks and a bench in the middle of them. There was a wooden fence that went up to his hips around the house.

He laid down on one of the hammocks and rested out in the sun and fell asleep. He woke up a couple hours later and stretched his arms and legs. He went inside the house and to the storage room. Inside he cut off a slab of smoked hanging meat. He peeked inside the room where his wife laid and confirmed she was ok.

He grabbed his sword from the corner of the room and went out of the house. A gentle breeze hit him as he started walking through the village. The roads had a lot of space as the occupants of the village walked through them. He made his way to the west side of the village where the marketplace was. He greeted some of his friends and some acquaintances.

He eventually went to a stall that was selling vegetables, then one that sold fruits, and he soon left. He had bought a goatskin bag. It wasn’t cheap nor expensive but he didn’t like spending unnecessarily. He didn’t let it get to him as he made his way to the North side of the village and walked through the shops.

Unlike the marketplace this area had blacksmiths, common tools, and other things. Hunters needed new weapons, supplies, and other things. Farmers needed tools and would occasionally need to buy things they had run out of. He paid little attention to these shops as he visited a friend of his. He walked into a shop that had a good amount of smoke coming from it.

As he entered a bell could be heard and a woman, a young girl around 12 came from the back. She had green hair tied into a ponytail and bright blue eyes. When she saw him she smiled.

“ Uncle Leo! “

“ Little Viola, how have you been lately? “

“ Good as usual. How about you? “

“ Great actually. My son was born a couple hours ago. “

“ Really!? “

She lit up when she heard that.

“ I’ll visit when I can. What’s his name? “

“ Haven’t thought of one yet. I’ll let you know when we give him one. “

Before they could continue their conversation a deep voice came from further back in the store.

“ Viola, who are you talking to? “

“ It’s Uncle Leo! “

Footsteps could be heard and soon a tall and muscular man could be seen. He had brown hair and red eyes. A small smile appeared on his lips as he walked over to Leo. They grabbed one another’s forearm and hugged for half a second before separating.

“ How have you been Leo? You haven’t visited in a month. “

“ Well I’ve had to take care of my wife. You know she was pregnant. “

“ Yeah Yeah I know. That brings up the question of why you’re here. “

“ My wife just gave birth to a boy. I’ve got a son now although we’re still deciding on a name. “

“ HAHAHA THAT'S GREAT! I’m happy for you. “

“ Thanks. I shouldn’t stay too long since I got to head back soon. “

“ I understand. Me, Tiffany, and Viola will visit when we can. What do you need?”

“ I’ll take 2 cuts of beef, chicken, and pork. “

“ Since we’re friends I'll make it 3. You only have to pay half the original price. Consider it our gift. “

Viola quickly disappeared into the back of the store and her father soon followed.
