Chapter Six: Planning Stage

By the time Harold and Cathy has gone out the inn to find food for the group, four minutes later, Chris’s eyes opened up and he woke up. Elise noticed this and hurriedly came to his side to help him sit up with a worried face, seeing this, Chris face showed a surprised expression.

“Elise, where are we?” Chris said.

“We’re in a town called Blake Town, don’t worry we’re safe here” Elise said.

“What happened? Ugh! My head hurts” Chris asked.

Elise seeing Chris painful expression, once again showed a worried face and explained to him what happened and the content of the letter that the mysterious youths gave them for a whole twenty minutes.

“So, Harold and Cathy left to find food?” Chris asked.

“Yes, ah! Don’t move your body yet!” Elise said.

“Un don’t worry, I’m already fine and now that you mentioned it, I’m famished” Chris said with a giggle.

When Elise saw Chris giggled, she was surprised that she finally saw Chris smiled like the old him. Before they were transported in this strange world, Elise and Chris were a couple, this couple were really happy with each other, they fight but they also almost made up with each other, loved each other, laugh together, fought their problems together, but because of different events such as Elise’s family, their differences, and etc. they were forcefully split up. The two knows that they still loved each other but Chris and Elise can’t let their emotions run rampant or else they’ll ran into a problem which will make them permanently separate with each other. Years later, Chris and Elise continued with this pretense and their love has started to slowly fade but before that, they were transferred into this strange world and the event with the chimera happened then Chris sacrificed himself to protect Elise, this made Elise and Chris’s love with each other has started to bloom once again.

Then Elise showed a gentle smile then said.

“Chris, do you want to see the city from the window? You’ll get blown by the people!” Elise said.

Hearing this, Chris understood what Elise is thinking but Chris just agreed and followed Elise to the window. Five silent minutes later, Chris finally regained his wits from the shock seeing the bustling town.

“This is really a fantasy world” Chris said.

“It really is” Elise replied.

A short silence once again surrounded the room and the people outside as their background, cutting the silence, Chris then asked Elise.

“Hey Elise, let’s start again and this time, no one will stop us” Chris said with a serious face.

“Eh? W-what?” Elise said surprised by Chris’s sudden words.

“I still have feelings for you, let’s start again, you and me” Chris said.

“......”

Elise gone silent and put her head down, but not for too long, Elise’s head suddenly looked at Chris with some tears in the corner of her eyes then said.

“Un! Let’s!” Elise said while smiling.

Then they hugged each other for a while until the door opened up and the other two who had gone to get food arrived and saw them hugging, so they separated immediately then Chris blushed a little but Elise has her whole face dyed red. Thankfully, Chris regained his wits.

“So? What did you brought?” Chris asked.

“Food!!” Harold replied.

“Finally! I’m famished!” Elise exclaimed with a faint red on her cheeks.

“Let’s eat!” Cathy scurried to the table then put the food down the table.

Cathy and Harold brought a skewered meat they saw from the central plaza, edible fruits, vegetables, and also a barrel of water. Before they ate, Harold gone downstairs to get some cups for them to use. While eating, Chris asked Harold how was his experience outside.

“It was amazing, right Cathy?” Harold said.

“Yes, tomorrow all of us should go outside then you’ll see different things outside that would make your mouth and eyes gaped” Cathy excitedly said.

“Cathy’s right, we just woke up but the sun is already setting down” Harold said.

“Tomorrow it is then” Chris agreed to their plan and Elise just nodded.

After eating, the group decided to use the leftover water to wash themselves at the courtyard of the inn. Night came, the group of four had gathered again at the table with serious faces and breaking the silence, Chris started to talk.

“First, we should gather information about this place we’re in using the money we got from those who saved us” Chris said.

“Just say it Chris, we’ll do as you say and besides you were always the smart one between us” Harold said while grinning.

“Un! Just as Harold said, we leave it to you” Cathy agreed.

“U-unless it is in reach of our capabilities” Elise stuttered.

“I’m only one person and I can’t always perfectly plan everything, look at the monster incident, I-I can’t do anything...” Chris sighed.

“That’s not true Chris, you saved me and if not for you, I already may be dead and not with you right now” Elise said.

“She’s right, you decided that we should get out from that place for our sake and even though we encountered that monster, isn’t we’re still alive? It’s that monster’s fault, it being there in a forest filled with bunnies. Chimera is like a last boss monster you would defeat and not resting in some beginners area” Harold said enthusiastically and with some anger.

“Hehehe~ my turn then? Back there in the forest, I felt devastated because my job is not combat-oriented, some were like you that want me to work with them but I can see in it in their eyes that there’s something more that they want and that made me avoid other people, even though I can’t fight, I don’t want to be treated as a tool but as a person, and that is until Harold came to me and led me to you. The spark of intelligence and honest eyes, I can see it. You see, I’m always sensitive in someone’s thinking process, and I can see that all you want is to survive, so I decided to follow you and look! We’re out of the forest and sitting here right now hehehe~ I talked long right? Oh! Don’t get me wrong Elise! Hehehe~ I just want to tell Chris that he is suited to be our leader and don’t worry Chris, everyone is imperfect and if you need help we’re all here to support” Cathy passionately said.

“Oy Cathy, is that really you talking right now?” Harold asked.

“Hehehe~ I just really became like this when it came to something like this” Cathy replied.

“I get it, I’ll accept your decisions then first...” Chris sighed.

“Be a good boy and accept it Chris” Elise teased.

“Well then, how many coins do we have left?” Chris asked while sighing.

“18 Gold and 5 Silver, the food here were cheap!” Cathy answered.

“Yeah but the water we got costs 1 Gold” Harold added.

“Hmm~ first, continue to buy food and buy again water if we don’t have anymore of it” Chris instructed.

Elise pouting from ignoring her teasing, Chris then planned their itinerary for tomorrow, First, Chris wanted to come in a library but Harold said that they didn’t saw a library when they walked around the town, so Chris then asked Cathy and Harold if they saw a bookstore which they answered ‘yes’. Hearing this, Chris wanted them to buy books about this world’s history, culture, common sense, and also a world map.

“Then, what’s our mission?” Elise asked.

“M-mission? Well, we should go around and look for a business we might need to gather money” Chris said.

“But the letter said we can be an adventurer or a merchant” Elise said.

“I think that it’s just one of the many choices we have but, do you all want to come back to earth?” Chris asked.

Everyone was silent but before they can answer, Chris looked at Elise then said.

“As for me, I won’t since Elise and I can find happiness and live peacefully here if we have money and power, and also no one to stop us this time” Chris said.

“Chris...” Elise said, no words coming out of her mouth.

“Look at this two, well I can say that if we found the way back home then that might be an option but as for now, I’m not thinking about it.” Harold said.

“I’m with Harold, my parents died when I was still a highschool student and my relatives can be said more scarier than those bunnies, top one is still that chimera though” Cathy said with self mocking laugh.

“I see” Chris said.

“Don’t worry Cathy, I’ll be your family” Elise said in a gentle voice.

“Un!” Cathy agreed.

“Hahaha! Then I’ll be your big brother!” Harold said.

“No need Harold” Cathy rejected.

“Gah! What’s with the different treatment?!” Harold surprised.

Everyone laughed then after talking for a while they slept for the night and then the next day, Chris and Elise woke up first then got ready for their mission.

Chris wore a same outfit as Harold’s clothes last time but Cathy’s were different, if Cathy’s dress shows her cuteness then Elise’s dress green one piece dress that compliments her blonde hair showed her pureness and a maiden in love.

When Chris saw this, he was speechless and just looked at Elise with wide eyes, this made Elise embarrassed and her cheeks showed a faint red.

“Good morning Chris” Elise greeted.

“Oh, Good morning Elise, are you ready?” Chris asked.

“Yes” Elise said.

“Then let’s go” Chris said.

Flabbergasted, Chris turned his eyes away from Elise then walked out the inn but to his surprise, Elise grabbed Chris’s shoulder and after he was grabbed, Chris felt something on his shoulder which made him flinched a little then he concentrated his mind on their purpose of coming out to get his mind out of the soft mounds touching his shoulder.

“Where are we going anyway?” Elise asked.

“Merchant’s guild” Chris replied.

“Not adventurers guild?” Elise asked.

“Yeah, we might attract attention when you’re wearing something like that there” Chris said.

“Oh yeah, template huh” Elise said.

“Yeah but you know, even though right now I can feel gazes looking at you you know” Chris said.

“Un, I can also feel it, is it that monster’s strong killing intent that we can feel this weak gazes?” Elise asked.

“Probably, well we should ask Cathy to craft us weapons again and that’s one of the reason why I like to go to the merchant’s guild” Chris said.

“I see, we’re defenseless in this town, we can’t let our guard down can’t we?” Elise said.

“You should ignore those gazes, we’ll do something about it if they come at us” Chris said.

“Un” Elise agreed.
