Chapter 22

As the pain went ended, he received a new notification.

Pain Resistance has leveled up 3 times!

Pain resistanceLevel 4120/56,750DescriptionResistance to pain. As this skill increases in level, you start to feel less pain. Current: 8% pain Reduction

He was barely able to breathe at this point, his mind constantly flickering from aware to unconscious. His ragged breathes pleased the torturer, as he seemed to smile and almost shake with excitement.

*Before this continued... I need... to at.. least inspect him...*

Quickly using Analyze, he brought up the man's status screen.

StatusName???Race???ExperienceLevel ??????: ?% ???/???Titles???Health???/???Mana???/???Health Regen? Per SecondMana Regen? Per SecondVitality???Endurance???Strength???Agility???Dexterity???Intelligence???Wisdom???Willpower???Status Effects

*What?! I can't see anything? Even for Full it allowed me to see his level, health and mana... Who is this guy?*

Looking back up at the guy, he was surprised to see an angry expression on the mans face.

"Did you... a small, insignificant, piece of TRASH LIKE YOU... dare to ANALYZE ME? I am a GOD compared to you!" - ???

Immediately, Jayson couldn't breathe. The bloodlust and anger coming off of the man were so strong and thick that he swore he could see a red haze around the man. After a few more seconds of bearing it, he went unconscious, again, for like the fiftieth time.

Feeling a cold sensation spreading down his body, he jolted upwards. Quickly opening his eyes, he realized that he was still stuck in the chair. Quickly realizing that the man had splashed him with water, he looked back up. The guy was gone, and in his place stood a different person. He was wearing a dark cloak and had a mask on. As he was about to analyze the man, he suddenly pressed the electrocute button and help it down.

Feeling the pain course through him, he realized that it hurt a bit less than it did before.

*This..might not be... as bad as i thought. A few more hours of this... and the pain should be reduced... by 25% if the skill levels...*

So that's what happened. The man never released the button, and let Jayson suffer. While no notifications popped up, most likely due to the game thinking he was in combat, he could feel the pain slowly lessen more and more as time passed. By now, his skill was most likely Level 10.

Having the pain decreased by his believed amount of 20%, 2% per level like before, he could now think straight while dealing with it.

*The devs had said that levels have no limits. But if this skill continues to improve at 2% a level, It'll max at Level 50. What comes after that? It can't go to 102% percent right?*

He continued to think about it, but soon found that the pain had ended. Looking around, he realized why. His health regen potion would be over in a few seconds, and for some reason they didn't want to kill him anymore.

Pain resistance has leveled up 9 times!

Due to having undergone such grave torture and still have your mind in tact, you gain +25 Willpower and +5 Wisdom!

*Hmmm? I gained wisdom? What, did I gain insights on how much torture hurts? Damn devs.*

Just as he was about to check his Pain Resistance skill, the world turned black and white for him.

Trying to look around, he realized he couldn't. After a few seconds, he heard a voice speaking to him.

"Game Update 1.001: Sorry for doing this without a warning, but we finally finished implementing some of the features! The list includes: Fame, Titles, and Brought-Over Skills. Now lets explain them. Fame. The more things you do in a certain area, the higher your fame in that area alone will be. Whether you will be infamous or famous matters not, as they all count. Titles. Titles are gained through accomplishing difficult tasks. Brought-Over Skills. If you know something in real-life, when you do it in-game to the best of your ability, it will be immediately leveled to the appropriate level you should be at. Ex: A world-renowned chef IRL will have a Cooking level well over Level 100 once they begin cooking in-game. That's all for the update. You guys have 2 more in-game weeks until you will be pulled out and the game officially releases. Have fun! -Devs*

As it finished going away, the world turned back to normal.

Instantly, new prompt assaulted him.

*What's with these crazy boosts. I guess that while they are large for my level, they are quite small for higher levels, but this Survivor title is quite nice. If I manage to get to Level 10,000, I'll get an extra 1,000 Willpower. I guess I should check my status real quick too.*

*Damn, my physical and mental skills are on completely different levels. I am a magic-user, but I can't forget that I do use a sword as a weapon, or used a sword I should say.*

For a while, nothing happened. The other man went away and he was just left sitting here, thinking about life. If anything, he was happy that he had 0.2% the total mana that Full had.

While it actually wasn't that much, it made him feel better that slowly he was getting closer. He had two weeks left in-game until the game fully released. Once it did, he would be able to play for 1 IRL month instead of 1 IRL week with the Deep-Submergence Capsule. It had cost him a fortune, around 2 million in fact, but with the money he had, it was easy.

Speaking of money, he thought about his parents. He still remembers the day they kicked him out. Both of them were very well-renowned business-people, well the most renowned since they were the richest people alive. He, since an early age, hated business, and so they dishonored him and kicked him out. But since he was still their kid, they gave him around 10% of their total wealth, as to them it would seem inappropriate for their kid to have to work for his own money. They were very self centered and egoistic people.

The 10% ended up being around 13 billion, so he has more money than most other people who actually worked for it. Because of it, not only does he have endless time to waste, but has an almost endless amount of money to go along with it. Also, since he was an only child, the company would go to him when they died, so he would be rich forever.

With this money and time, he enjoyed immersing himself in reading and video-games. Sure, he did own multiple jets, and million dollar cars, but he just bought those on whims. Even the fact that he got into the 10,000 player beta had been bought. he payed the company around 1 million to let him have a spot. Anything below that, and they wouldn't accept it.

Back to his family. His parents were always strict about anything and everything. This made him slowly lose touch with others and soon became more of a silent watcher than anything else. He had mostly gotten rid of his emotions, especially after his parents beat him halfway into a coma to get him to behave. He still visits them every few months, but now he has much more time to spend doing what he wants. As for lovers, he has none. Very few people actually know what he looks like, and there's more than one person with his last name.

And that's how he would like it. If he had a lover, he would have to spend time to please them, and that seems like a waste. This is mainly what drove him to want to become one of the strongest in Ley Wprld. But currently that didn't seem to be working. He would be mad, but he knows how to hold his emotions back almost masterfully at this point.Anytime he would show them, they would be snippets of fake personalities he had acquired through his life as a business family kid.

As he continued to think back, finally someone came back. It was the same man that had injected him with the health potion and started the electrocution.

"Now then. Since you 'travelers' have such easy times gaining and upgrading your skills, we will be using you. As slaves. You will be working for our mines on Planet Ourel. The deeper you go into the planet, the denser the materials will be. They are also worth much more. Not only that, but you will have to constantly fight against the beasts that live within the mines. You will be starting in a mana-stone mine. It's the easiest one. The only creatures there are small rock-crabs, between level 100 and 250. They appear in large swarms very often, but with you specialties as a Void-Elf taking on large groups is easy. Now then, if you manage to mine a total of 1,000,000 durels, we will let you go. Not only that, but you will be much stronger than before. Now incase you don't know what a dural is, it is the highest form of currency. They go, 1000 Rels to 1 Bell, 1000 Bells to 1 Ure, and 1000 Ures to 1 Eural, and finally 100 Eurals to 1 Dural." - ???

"Basically, 1 Dural is equal to 100,000,000,000, or 100 billion Rels. 1 cubic meter of Mana-Stone is worth 100 Rels. It would take you 1 billion square meters of mana-stone to get 1 dural. You need 1 million of them. It's basically an impossible task. Unless you go down deep enough, as near the core of the planet there are elements where each square meter is worth 50 Eurals. So you would only need 2,000,000 square meters of it. Either way, it will take a long time." - ???

"You will be given a bag of holding, which is enchanted to hold up to 100 square kilometers of space or 100 million square meters. Each day, you will use the teleporters put throughout the mines to go back to the main dock and give your back to the guards to measure." - ???

"You're probably wondering why I'm telling you so much, but its quite simple. One, when it comes to business I am quite thorough. And two, you travelers gain power so fast that by in a month you'll probably have a mining level of over 250, while it takes even dwarfs a year to do that. So you will be quite good for us. Now then, goodbye!" - ???

Before he could say anything, he felt himself blacking out.
