CHAPTER 2: THE CHILD GOD
He woke up to the gentle sound of a stream joining water. His vision was met by a blue sky with puffy clouds lazily floating by. He sat up, seeing the green grass and colourful flowers all around. Two butterflies floated by, their wings softly glowing as one chased the other. When they passed by him, he saw a child ahead.
The floating child looked human, except he looked as if he was made of golden energy, which even formed his clothes. He was staring intently at a square looking object that his thumbs were bashing intensely. The child also had another object on his head, it curved up around his crown and ended in both ears where it covered them.
The boy looked up at him. He pulled the object off his head and it, along with the one that he had been looking at disappeared in golden smoke.
“Elakaz, you are finally here.” The boy said.
He tilted his head in confusion. As he tried to remember why that name was familiar. He remembered it was his birth name.
“What? Would you rather be called B?”
“I no longer have the power of B.” he said, getting to his feet. “And I am no longer Elakaz. I have no name.”
“It is that kind of attitude that will make your reincarnation easier.”
“Reincarnation?” he repeated. “You are a god?”
“Panokin at your service.” The boy said floating closer to him.
“You want to reincarnate me?” he said.
“Yes, imagine, coming back to the world.” Panokin said as he floated around him. “You’d be an OPMC type of course, curbstomping anyone you come across! You’d have a harem made of paper personality girls who will live solely for you and everyone will regard you as a hero for simply being you!”
“Sounds meh,” he said. “Would I have battle and a chance to get revenge on the Demon Lord?”
“Without question. That is the main reason I’d be bringing you back.”
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“Then yes! It does sound good. A second chance at being a demon would be glor…”
“You wouldn’t be a demon.” Pankin said, floating in his view upside down. “It’d be weird if a demon was leading the human armies.”
“Wha… you want to reincarnate me as a human?”
The golden boy nodded.
“No.”
“Come on!”
“I would rather die than be a human!”
“You’re already dead.”
“Then I’d rather die again!”
“Come on, please!”
“No!” he turned away from the floating boy.
“Please! Please!” Panokin floated in his face.
“NEVER!” he turned away.
“Pretty please please, with a cherry on top.” The boy said, floating in his face, his eyes growing larger and pouting his mouth. “Wait, that saying won’t work on you. How about, pretty please with a beating human heart on top.”
“Are you sure you are a god? Cause you seem more of an unlikeable brat than anything else.”
Pankin spun in the air. “Oh come on! I need someone to save the humans so they can shut up!”
“Shut up?”
“Yes! Do you know how annoying it is to be hounded by their prayers day and night? Especially since this whole demon invasion began. Even my headphones can’t shut their whiney voices out anymore!”
“What are headphones?”
“Humans are annoying and dumb… but mostly annoying!” Panokin said, too passionate to answer his question. “I’ve seen them! They romanticize evil but as soon as evil happens to them, they shout ‘Lordy! Lordy!’ I don’t even know where they found my name! I need to help them. Come on, help a god out.”
“I refuse! I hate humans for as much reasons as you do and even more! And why would you even choose me for this?”
“I’m playing the odds. I think you have the best chance to save them and take down the demons.”
“They’re weak! They deserve to dominated by demons!”
“So you would really rather be dead?”
“Yes, in fact, I demand to be taken to hades where I’ll receive my eternal suffering. Cause that would be better than the humiliation of being a human.”
The sky began to darken. The fluffy clouds grew black and began to swirl with lightning. The wind howled. He began feeling scared. Unlike the warm and serine feelings being around the boy made him feel, he was suddenly feeling a little fearful. He looked at the golden boy who frowned as he looked up.
“This is bad.” Panokin said. “Time for you to get going to your next life.”
“I said no!” he said. “I never agreed.”
“I have videographic evidence that says otherwise.” Pankin snapped his hands and a flat big tablet looking item appeared beside him. On the tablet was mirror and on the mirror was the image of him but being reflected, more like playing the past.
‘Then yes! It does sound good…’ the image of him in the tablet said before it vanished.
“No! That’s not what I meant you and know it!”
“Come on, you’re demon.” The boy said, looking a little more desperate than usual. “You should know how deals are handled.” Panokin tapped him on top of his head and said, “Reincarnate!”
He was suddenly surrounded by a pillar of golden light. His body turned to light as he could hear thunder and a deep, fearsome voice shouting, “PANOKINNNNNN!”
Then he turned to light and was gone.
