A panda-eyed Tian Lang gazed at the foggy sky. Life taught him a valuable lesson. No, fleshy mounds did! Had it not been for last night’s experience, he might’ve fought anyone who dared to say falling asleep was hard.
Hard? No, that was making it look easy. For Tian Lang failed to get a wink of sleep last night. The whole time he intensely tried to concentrate on sleeping and remove his focus from the soft warmth.
Alas... that warmth was like a magnet to his consciousness, he failed to separate his focus from it. The excessive mental exertion tired him more. Even remaining awake and fighting a whole night wouldn’t be this tiring. Not sleeping for multiple nights didn’t tire Tian Lang this much. That was without mentioning his meat-stick going all thick and hard. It was trouble after trouble!
To add, a certain leopard, who eyed him the whole time. It had a question of its own, ‘Am I unnecessary?’
Throughout the whole night, Meng Delan, who was oblivious to Tian Lang’s trouble, slept soundly. When dawn came she even said she had a warm sleep thanks to Tian Lang’s presence. Not forgetting to remind him to avoid going far from the tree, she handed him a book and disappeared to crystal knows where.
“Ugh,” the chaotic being whined and lazily leaned on the tree. If it wasn’t because his attention was fully on the fleshy mounds, he would be full of vigor currently.
Depressed and defeated by mere lumps of flesh, Tian Lang opened the book. Unlike the standard books he had used so far, this was handwritten and the illustrations were also drawn vividly with great details. The book focused on gravity and the center of balance to maximize control over physical strength.
Though Tian Lang called it a book, it barely had twenty-seven pages. Even the contents were limited with only points mentioned.
He took his time and spent a full hour going through it repeatedly. The book focused on something he desperately wished for. It was all about balance and strength control. Also, introduction to soft-force and hard-force commonly referred to as Yin-Yang force.
However, the book only explained the mechanism behind the control. Tian Lang had no idea how to execute it. He put everything together and imitated the moves that mesmerized him. The movement of his former roommate, Xue Wu Xia executed. Moving around the sky with grace like a butterfly.
Let alone damage, her movement barely stirred the dust. But when Tian Lang imitated that his jumping power was insignificant. If he followed his instinct, even if his landing was gentle, his takeoff spot was ruined. And if his take off sport remained clean... well, that never happened. At least some tears or depression would form.
It was fine that Tian Lang hadn’t learned it before. But after reading the book, determination burned within him to get control of his strength. He realized the lack of proper control equaled not utilizing his strength accurately.
How could he allow that? He was the Alpha! Out of all things he couldn’t let self-control go beyond him. So he kept practicing without caring for his surroundings. At a point, he threw away everything he learned to the back of his head and traced where the lack of control came from.
Surprisingly, this approach proved much easier and fruitful. Thanks to [Unquenchable Mystic Body] and all those lessons, Tian Lang had a great understanding of his own body and energy. He found his energy exertion focused all outwards. When he had the tiny pup body, not only this gave him great maneuverability, but also the best way to damage his enemies with such a small body.
However, the same thing turned out to be his weakness once he had a humanoid body. Human body already had great stability and he had no fear of boring a hole in some random spots, thanks to his all-purpose legs.
Once he figured out the source of the problem, everything progressed smoothly. Tian Lang cut the outwards energy paths and utilized the soft-force method to jump.
Whoosh!
And the effect was phenomenal. Tian Lang didn’t even feel hitting the ground, yet his body jumped as if he was flying. Of course, it was far from perfect. The traditional method of using soft-force was to attack with a simple touch but inflicting the harshest damage, or armor-piercing attack.
Obviously, the ground that Tian Lang failed to feel kicking exploded behind him.
This... Teacher Meng wouldn’t get mad, right? Tian Lang sweated at that thought but quickly shook his head. The divine teacher had given him the book, she should at least expect this much, right?
So omitting the usage of soft-force, Tian Lang continued his training. Although he encountered some problems, nothing he couldn’t solve within a minute or two.
Just when he was getting bored, a gloomy Meng Delan returned.
“Teacher Meng, welcome back.”

Contrary to Tian Lang’s lively greeting, Meng Delan only muttered in a deadpan tone, “Traitor...”
“...Did you say something teacher?” despite hearing her, Tian Lang was confused. Traitor? When did he betray her?
Meng Delan stopped before the tall Tian Lang, her eyes glaring. If only she had the abilities of some certain beast, Tian Lang might’ve already fallen to the ground, plain dead but as she possessed soft countenance she appeared to be more charming. “Didn’t I tell you to come to me if you encounter any problem or need!!?”
“B-but I didn’t encounter any problem that Teacher Meng needs to worry about,” Tian Lang became worried. It seems like destroying her garden was a bad idea, indeed.
Snorting, Meng Delan kept glaring.
Although Tian Lang found her more attractive than fierce, it still felt uncomfortable after some time. In the end, he could only avoid her gaze and enjoy the morning sunshine. Indeed, such was the life of a freeloader Alpha.
“Student Sky Wolf, no, perverted wolfy! Look at me, do you understand what I said?”
“Yes...” Tian Lang resigned in all helplessness. He could only ask Meng Delan what he could to a teacher, right? Why bother someone else when you can figure it out? Besides, why did everyone call him a pervert? And wolfy? Was the secret of his race, common knowledge to everyone? No, he blamed everything on his thoughtless name. Sky Wolf. He slightly despised that big-fleshy mounded human!
Sky Wolf was a mistake!
Even after Tian Lang admitted, Meng Delan kept glaring at him in all indignation. It wasn’t until a few minutes later when her eyes got tired did she scoff and enter the tree hut while leaving a few words for him, “Come up after a while. I will prepare something to eat.”
As expected, humans were illogical. No, human women were crazy! Just like his female roommate. He just wanted to look at her eyes for a moment, did she have to react so furiously? Now, his Divine Teacher, for reasons he wasn’t even aware of.
If you are angry why give me food?! Tian Lang couldn’t help but question inwardly.
Maybe it was because of Meng Delan’s terrible mood, Tian Lang got to taste the same soup from last night. Not that he had any complaints. Even this was counted as luxury for him.
However, while he took his sweet time to enjoy the soup, the divine teacher leaned over his shoulder, “Do you need seconds? I have plenty.”
Weren’t you angry just now?! Tian Lang gawked in surprise.
Meng Delan’s current tone denied all her previous indignation. She was now the all understanding teacher from his memory. The chaotic being suddenly understood. Although Teacher Meng’s action might seem incomprehensible, she always had a profound reason behind her action.
The chaotic being respectfully rejected her offer and finished his meal. Even though it was tempting, he felt those pressing hot meat-bags would only make him hungrier.
His first thought after finishing the meal was to get back to his dorm room. No way in heaven did he want to sleep in this hut again. Not with those tempting mounds pressing on his back. He had no idea when he would grab them to get a good feel. But the divine teacher had divine plans waiting for him.
She grabbed him by the shoulder and laid a thick book in front of him.
[The Struggling Lion King by TheCherryBlossomIHaven’tSeen]
“Dear Sky Wolf, read this book. You will find many interesting experiences in it,” the divine teacher instructed while gently patting his head.
“Lion King... Fiction book?” the self-proclaimed alpha murmured in confusion, “Teacher Wu Hen said fiction books are for enjoyment. What can I learn from it?”
“Student Sky Wolf, are you questioning me? Am I the Principal Shui Wu Hen?”
“No, but...” Tian Lang instantly replied, causing Meng Delan to sigh defeat.
“Fiction books are for enjoyment but it’s not like they are purely for enjoyment. Depending on the Author or the book, they vary. Some authors put their life’s worth of experience in a single book. Look at this one for example. It is written by an experienced Author and follows realistic plots and events suffered by an abandoned Lion. If you read this, you’ll definitely find it helpful in your future journey. How about this, take note of what you find surprising, helpful, and new.”
The chaotic being was amazed by the deepness of fiction writing. He inwardly praised all the authors working so hard to write books, cause he definitely wasn’t writing one. Just writing one page gave him the urge to not look at papers for a day. As for what to write... well, let’s leave it for another time.
Tian Lang focused on the book. The story followed a Lion cub that was abandoned because of its frail constitution. It struggled in the forest and encountered many life-threatening situations. Sometimes it even had to go through days of hunger because of nearby laying predators. But the lion cub was patient, it wasn’t arrogant like usual lions and even sneaky. Survival took priority for it. However, one day its life changed. It encountered two dragons’ dead bodies, apparently, they fought to death. How could the lion miss this chance? It devoured as much as their corpse possible and hid the crystals for later consumption. While waiting for other beasts’ appearance, it even found dragon eggs and devoured them. From then on the lion changed. It evolved into something greater. To a Winged-Wind Lion King and became the ruler of the forest but new challenges came... or so he thought...
Tian Lang could hardly recall anything as the process of reading was anything but peaceful.
While he read, Teacher Meng summoned a fire elemental and took a Kangaroo’s tendon, a Flood-dragon’s gall, and some herb boxes. They hinted that something interesting was about to happen, how could Tian Lang miss the chance? But the divine teacher gave him a one-word of divine instruction, “Focus!”
Yeah, he focused but next came the sound of small fires exploding followed by strange bubbling noise. Last but not the least, a freaking Dragon’s Roar, startling the chaotic being and all the living fishes away. Let alone focus, even his tiredness washed away.
Meng Delan had a straight face as if it was nothing noteworthy. She even doubted Tian Lang encountered some problem and gave him a [Great Fleshy Mountain Push].
In the end, Tian Lang had no idea what he read throughout the whole day. Note something? The page was blank while his mind was filled with videos of what Meng Delan had possibly done with ingredients. All thanks to the almighty background sound effects.
As for the chaotic being’s distress, the divine teacher only hugged him and consoled inwardly, ‘sorry hubby~ but this is the best way for your focus to make progress~’
