SS 3: North's situation
*Third person POV*
The northern region of Eralgia: Bancera, a prosperous land like the rest of the kingdom.
According to the opinion of many, the winter in this region is colder and longer, but it’s not so bad in the eyes of the other kingdoms further north.
Especially to the border neighbor, the kingdom of Timancera, a land of crude winters, a characteristic of the north of the continent.
Although it’s not that poor and with completely infertile land like, far was from the abundance of Eralgia. That is why on many occasions Timancera looked with envy at the gifts of the land its neighbor had.
The relations between the two kingdoms was not good, there were many conflicts and battles that were unleashed at the slightest provocation. For this reason, both countries have built several fortresses in their borders. One of them was Gau, property of the kingdom of Eralgia that protects the most important strategic zone of the region.
"We have arrived, Commander, you can appreciate the fortress from there." (Young knight)
"Yes, I can see it." (Commander)
Surrounded by dense forests, a stone-built castle stood intimidated against any aggressor who thought to attack it. With thick and high walls from where one could throw stones, arrows or spells, and an interior built in the form of a maze. The fortress of Gau had the reputation of "unconquerable".
"This is the first step of my promotion ... It will not be long before I acquire the rank of general, or rather, lord of the region." Commander
An ambitious smile was drawn on the face of the man of burly physique and wild gaze.
"Your uncle will be glad to bequeath you his post." (Young knight)
"That old man can only be useful in the tomb. His methods are as decrepit and cowardly as himself. If you want to keep an enemy a line you have to teach them a lesson by force, not to hide under the ground like a snake." Commander
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“Be careful what you say, Commander Jarader.” (Young knight)
"You are right. I will be better start acting like the brave and virtuous nephew he hopes to have." (Jarader)
Jarader Doma, nephew of the lord of the region, Owen Doma. Astute and messed up for those who knew him well, he was a good actor who behaved as an honest man. Perhaps because he came from an important military family, his skill in combat was unparalleled and that had conferred him several war merits, allowing him to ascend from a young age in the ranks.
Currently, at the suggestion of his father and with the permission of the court, he and his squad would join the defense forces of Gao, at the command of his uncle.
This may represent a breakthrough in his career, if everything went according his plans, he could inherit his uncle’s position, if not, he could return to the capital with more merits. Both were very good scenarios, but for someone who loved violence as much as he did, the position of his uncle was more appealing.
...
"According to Mr. Owen's latest reports, a number of 3,000 timancerite infantrymen have left the fort north of here towards an easterly direction." (Young knight)
"3,000 men ... That's 12 squadrons, what about heavy units or cavalry?" (Jarader)
In addition, according to the information given by the lords from the neighbor regions, that is the only fort that has dispatched the men at the moment. (Young equestrian)
"That's why I do not like the ineptitude of these geezers. That’s not something difficult to decipher. Timancera had a bad harvest in that region and keeping too much mouths is unnecessary. (Jarader)
Jarader and his close aid talked quietly as the unit marched toward Gau with tranquil pace. It would be bad to arrive with tired troops.
“Cavalry and heavy units consume a lot of resources. Would it not be better getting rid of these?" (Young knight)
"That is only if you plan to extend this conflict.... It is likely that the timancerites try to make us believe that they have weakened so that we become overconfident and march against them, leading us to a trap. They must have a counterattack plan that depends on mobile units to decimate our forces, and siege weapons to attack our fort. " (Jarader)
"But that could increase hostilities and unleash an open war between the two kingdoms!... In addition, in any case, your uncle uncle would prefer to keep the defenses instead of attacking." (Young knight)
"Like a hungry monster, a person, or in this case, a kingdom, could take a big risk in order to get food… Even starting a war. Famine must be worse than ever." (Jarader)
Jarader began to reflect a little, thinking in the reasons how the Timancera kingdom could provoke his uncle so that he will make the decision to attack. In addition, if they are withdrawing troops it is because they are waiting for something.
"The cowardly attitude of the old man will help Eralgia right now, but that would be boring and bad for me ... Whatever plan they have, I hope it works, Timancera’s bastards." (Jarader)
