Weak

It was just like me to forget my place. I was still far below the food chain, but my little victory inflated my ego far above it's station.

The wall shook.

It's vibrations brought me out of my shock. While I was out of it, the mages had been fending off the onslaught of mountains the undead cycloplse threw our way.

The wall shook with every collision. The mages shields took care of the majority of the damage, but they did nothing to stop the shockwaves from throwing us around.

Captain Eleron was thankfully unoccupied. I requested my armor and he barely registered my request with a grunt and a glow of faint blue light.

I strapped on my armor and picked up a random javelin lining the walkway. I sent energy into my strength pattern, concentrating it intp my right arm. It swole and bulged with ripplimg muscle. The javelin looked and felt comically small in my hand.

I had to ask another soldier for the pike he held. The looks I was given were a mixture of amusement and caution. I just hopped that Malcom wouldn't see-

"Bahahahaa! You been overworking your poor right hand? If I remember correctly, you don't have a dick anymore. Were you jerking off one of your squad members? Was it Filo? You guys looked quite sus." He was doubled over with laughter. "For your hand to get that big, you must have been helping all of them out. Hahaha!"

My face flushed pink. Fucking bastard. I could hear some of the legionares snickering behind me. Fuck you Malcom!

"I know what you're thinking. I don't swing that way!" He still held his stomach trying, and failing, to control his laughter.

His jest lightened the mood and made me feel less anxious.

I redistributed the energy in my arm and sent some to my legs.

I planted my left foot forward and leaned back, putting all my weight on it. I pulled myself forward with all my might, transferring the energy in my pattern fluidly from my left leg to my right arm at the end of my throw.

The pike left my hand with a loud boom. It flew straight for the cyclopse. It's momentum seemed to imcrease as it flew fow forward. Another resounding boom followed shortly after the first.

Even if my rhrow couldn't kill the damn thing, it would at least get injured a bit.

There was no anticlimatic conclusion. The impromtu javelin hit it's mark and the cyclopse barely registered it as anything. It didn't bother to block or dodge it. It sat and took it.

It seemed my attempt to hurt it was useless. I felt small once again.

"Whew. You're pretty much less than a mosquito to it."

Fucking Malcom!!

"You're pretty chatty today." I replied with as flat a tone as I could manage.

"We might die today John." He fell silent, as of gathering himself for what was to come "The commander briefed us. We are all that's left to hold the Queen of rot's offensive." He paused. "The closest reinforcements are a week away and it would take 2 more days for our request to reach the capital"

I would have felt our situation was dire if I hadn't spoken to General Agnus. We spent 2 days on the road to reach this wall, which should mean reinforcements should be here in 5 days. I told Malcom as such and his complexion got slightly better. 5 days was still a lot, even with Brigadier General Corvus of the Legion as our commander.

Heck we wouldn't last 5 days with that bloody cyclopse lobbing mountains at us.

"John. You and Eco are with me. The commander has requested our presence" Captain Eleron's voice broke me out of my thoughts.

We had to go down the elevator again. I was not looking forward to plummeting straight down to the ground below.

The journey down nearly gave me a heart attack. My heart was in my throat and I felt my soul leave my body and never come back. It was probably still on the walls. Fuck.

We were led to an unassuming tent by 2 legionares. It was the same as the others, maybe slightly larger. It was red instead of the dark shade of green ours were.

We walled into the tent in lock step, our right hands straight, and raised slightly above our shoulder line.

"We greet Imperator Corvus!" It felt so nice to do this as a former Rome nerd.

"At ease" His voice was more a low rumble with more bass than treble. It made sense since he was an absolute mountain of a man. He was still in his tunic and yet he seemed more threatening than I was in full plate armor.

"We will attack the cyclopse in 5 hours. I will deal with it. You and a few others will keep the stragglers at bay. Do not disappoint me" with that, we were dismissed.
