The wagon I rode continued to travel along the road of the village.
I looked around the village and discovered that there were only at most 40 houses here.
From the people I saw, it seems that the average age of the people that stayed here was around 30 years.
Most of the children ran about the side of the road and I even spotted some children who were older than me.
The wagon stopped near the village square and the villagers started to gather near us.
Anderson got off the driver’s seat and removed the cloth that covered his products.
Feeling curious, I jumped off from my seat which was beside his and walked towards the rear to browse his wares.
My eyes widened at the vastness of the things he sold.
Fur, leather and clothes were arranged at the right side of the wagon.
Knives, pans and other kitchen ware were placed at the left side.
Products that didn’t belong to either of the two were placed at the center of the wagon.
I got amazed at the site and wanted to compliment Anderson, but when I shifted my site to his, I saw him getting troubled by the villagers.
Even though we just met, a desire to help him welled inside of me.
Jumping on the wagon, I stood up behind Anderson and clapped my hands.
Anderson, along with the villagers and scrutinized me from head to toe.
Though their stares were a bit uncomfortable, I repressed my desire to run away from them.
“Cough*… now that I have all of your attention, could all of you form a line in front of Him. Don’t worry all of you will be entertained and also, everything will be faster if you do as I suggested.”
At first, the villagers stared at each other before making an understanding nod.
Slowly, they started to form a line in front of Anderson.
I made a smile when I saw that they were quite cooperative.
“I’d like to buy a knife and a pan, Anderson.”
A female villager, who stood in front of Anderson, told him what she’d like to buy.
When I heard it, I quickly took a pan and a knife from the wagon and passed it to Anderson.
He became slightly surprised at my action and gave me a big smile before entertaining the consumer.
By the time the last villager made a purchase from Anderson, the sun was already setting on the west.
I hopped off the wagon and stood beside him.
“Could you buy these rabbit fur from me, Anderson.”
Anderson jumped from surprise and faced me.
“O… Oh~, it’s just you huh, Kaylee. Sorry, you were so small that I didn’t even notice you standing beside me.”
I pouted at his words and spoke with barbs in my words.
“I’m still young, Anderson. I’ll grow taller you’ll see! (I’m still 10! I still have room to grow! You’ll see.)”
“Haha, I didn’t mean to offend you, Kaylee.”
“Hmph, so would you buy these 5 rabbit skins or not?”
With a wry smile, Anderson accepted the rabbit skins I presented to him.
He made a surprised face when he inspected each rabbit skin.
“Hmmm… I’ll each of these for 10 copper coins each, as thanks for the help you did earlier, I’ll make it 12 copper coins each.”
“Thanks!”
“Even though you’re still so young… where’d you learn how to skin rabbits, Kaylee? Not only that, you were also very good at calculating the charges for each stock a customer bought earlier.”
“It’s a secret…”
“If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t pry any further then, Kaylee.”
As I accepted the 60 copper coins from him, I remembered the field I experienced when I was 14 years old in my past life.
My classmates banded together and punched me in the stomach till I was unconscious.
The next thing I knew, I was in a log cabin in the middle of a forest.
Our field trip that time involved hiking on a mountain.
That time, I was very desperate to come down, that I wandered aimlessly till it was night.
Hunger and exhaustion made me faint; I surely would’ve died if it weren’t for a few hunters who saw me.
Since then, I’ve endlessly read tons of books and articles on the internet about survival.
It was quite useful in this life, which was a blessing for me.
“What are your plans for now, Kaylee?”
Anderson’s sudden question woke me up.
I stared at him for a while and placed a hand on my chin before answering him with a tilted head.
“Hmm… I guess, I’ll find an inn in this village for now before continuing to travel east?”
“’I guess’? What’s up with that word huh, Kaylee? I thought you already had plans when you’ve reached this village?”
“I was planning to leave this village if I didn’t find anything interesting, Anderson. But because I helped you, I didn’t have any time to explore this village.”
Anderson became speechless at the words I uttered.
I felt a bit embarrassed from the stare that he gave me, that my cheek became slightly red.
“Then, this is where we part, Anderson. Thanks for the ride you gave me today.”
“No prob, Kaylee. I hope our paths cross again.”
“Yes.”
I walked away from Anderson after saying our goodbyes and started looking for an inn.
Though I don’t know how safe this place was, I took my time looking for an inn, even though the sky was already dark.
A few minutes of walking and asking for directions, I finally found this village’s inn.
It was a two storey building which was built out of wood.
As usual, it had a Middle Age like atmosphere or should I say, fantasy-like?
Stolen story; please report.
When I entered the inn and was greeted by a lovely little girl with ash-brown hair tied into a braid on her back.
She wore a lovely brown dress and looked to be around 16 years old.
The atmosphere she exuded felt very energetic and cheerful.
“Welcome, Dear Customer. Are here to stay for the night or to have dinner?”
Shifting my gaze to the side, I found out that there were also tables near the counter she stood.
I approached the girl and found out that the work table was quite tall.
Raising my head to look at her face, I told her my request.
“Ah, how much does it cost for me to stay here for a night along with dinner?”
“Hm? Are you alone, little girl?”
I nodded at her question which greatly stunned her.
After a moment, she finally understood and started explaining.
“We have three rooms available for tonight. The cheapest one costs 6 copper coins and the most expensive one costs 12 copper coins.”
I started thinking for a while before answering her question.
“Is dinner included with the rooms?”
“Yes.”
“Then… I’d like to stay at the most expensive room please.”
“Very well, I’ll show you to your room the, Dear Customer.”
“Thank you very much.”
The girl exited from the counter and walked up the stairs.
I followed right behind her in small steps.
When we arrived at the 2nd floor, we continued to tread the hallway and passed by 4 doors.
At the farthest end of the hall, the girl stopped in front of the last door and faced me.
“This will be your room, Dear Customer. Here are your keys.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Dinner will also be carried to your room. Tonight’s dish will be beef stew and barbecue.”
When I heard that tonight’s food was gonna be a feast, my face made a wide grin.
The girl in front of me seemed to have also been infected by my smile and blushed a little.
“Then, if you’ll excuse me.”
The girl walked away and headed back to the counter on the first floor.
I opened the door ran to the bed the moment I saw it.
Plopping myself on top of it, I started rolling about.
I didn’t even bother looking around the room.
“Finally… a bed!”
I hugged the pillow on top of the bed before rearranging it.
Sitting on top of the comfortable bed, I took out my bow and started my maintenance.
When 30 minutes had passed, I heard a knock from the door.
I stood up from the bed and headed for the door.
When I opened it, the girl from the counter made a shocked face which made curious.
“Why were you shocked… um…”
“Please call me Chris, Dear Customer.”
“Then you can also call me Kaylee, it’s quite uncomfortable if you call me ‘Dear Customer’ all the time.”
“… okay.”
“So, can I ask why you were so shocked, Chris.”
“Well… normally, after we knock, we would just wait for the response of the person staying in the room, Kaylee.”
“Is that so? Well, I only opened it out of habit. I’ll be careful next time. Thank you for the info, Chris.”
“Ah, I’m glad that I got to be of help, Kaylee.”
“Oh yeah, Chris… could you change the way you speak to me? Even though it’s quite nice for you to be respectful to your customer, I’m still younger than you, Chris. Don’t you feel weird talking to me like that?”
Chris knitted her brows before she nodded to my request.
I became glad and ushered her into my room.
Though I wanted to help her arrange the food on top of the table, I refrained from doing so, because I would be taking away her job.
“I’ll come back for the plates later, Kaylee.”
“Thanks, Chris.”
“No prob.”
Feeling satisfied that Chris was talking to me more naturally, I sat on the chair with a smile and started eating the food.
“Hmmm… the taste is quite bland. It needs more salt.”
Since the country of Celestines was quite far from the ocean.
Salt here was treated as a luxury and was priced very high.
When I was finished eating, I went back to maintaining my bow.
Before I knew it, the plates on the table were gone.
“It seemed like Chris came here without me noticing huh.”
After finishing my maintenance, I turned off the lamp and went to sleep.
