“It’s no good!”
“We’re all gonna die!”
“Don’t give up just yet! It’s still too early to give up!”
I shouted at the soldiers who cowered in fear as I pulled the bowstring to its limit.
Fixing my posture in the ramparts of the fort and locked my target to a soldier with a red cape.
He positioned himself in the rear and many aides stayed beside him.
In my view, his hands were moving in a furious manner and his mouth continued moving up and down.
I waited for the wind to die down and release my arrow towards the red-caped soldier.
My arrow became invisible by the cover of hundreds of arrows which flew besides it.
It drew a great parabola in the sky and hit the red caped soldier in the middle of his brow.
A smile surfaced in my face as I saw him fall down from his horse and demoralized the soldiers near him.
“As expected of the silver—“
When I heard those words, I glared at the soldier who was cowering before.
He covered his mouth as he shook his head from left to right.
Even though I still felt dissatisfied, I paid it no heed and readied another arrow in my bow.
“Listen to me, I already know that we’re gonna die defending this fort. But ask yourself this question. “Would you be alright if you leave your companions behind and live a life burdened by their deaths till the day you die?””
Like last time, I spoke to the soldiers near me as I searched for a target in the midst of a chaotic battle.
“My personal answer for that question was this, “If I’m gonna die sooner or later, it’d be better for me to die alongside my comrade-in-arms than die alone in some ditch.””
I released another arrow from my bow and removed my gaze from the battlefield.
Although I wasn’t looking at the result of my shot, the result was the same as the last one.
I reached my hand to the soldier who was gazing at me and reached my hand out to him.
He stared at my hand for a while before he accepted it and stood beside me.
His resolve was finally strengthened as he readied the bow in his hand and shot towards the enemy lines.
The act of cowering in fear felt like a lie when I saw the expression he made as he stood shoulder to shoulder with me.
“Now that’s a nice expression to have.”
I spoke those words to him without thinking and resumed my search for a target.
“You’re words have reached my heart, Kaylee. Even though I don’t know the reason why you’re defending this fort, right now you’re my comrade. Even if I die here now, I’m pretty sure that I’d be smiling at that time, coz I’d die besides a beautiful young woman like you.”
“A lot of things happened along the way and it resulted to me becoming one of the defenders.”
“Is that so?”
“Ah, but I’m sure of one thing.”
“What is it?”
“I don’t have any intention to die here.”
I replied to the man who knew my name from hearsay as I released an arrow from my bow.
He gave a hearty laugh as he shot another arrow with a big smile on his face.
Question marks floated around me as I stared at him.
“As expected of you, Kaylee! Though your small despite your age, the sharpness of your crimson eyes and the beauty of you silver hair as it flows with the wind, charms both allies and enemies alike! That beauty is also rivaled by the talent you own.”
Unlike last time, the man met my eyes as he spoke those words to me.
He had an atmosphere that emanated courage and it inspired the other soldiers to fight back with more ferocity.
They were crouching behind the ramparts along with the man in front of me, now they were shooting arrows towards the enemy with great enthusiasm and vigor.
“That’s such an exaggeration. I’m not that short, okay! I’ll still grow taller!.”
“Hah! You’re fine to believe that, Kaylee!”
I made a wry smile at the soldier who acted with a familiar manner to me despite having only met today.
I fixed my posture and readied my bow, so that it could release an arrow anytime.
Placing the arrow on the bow and pulling the bowstring, I regulated my breathing and patiently waited for the wind to calm down.
Releasing the string from my hand, the arrow flew and made a great parabola on top of the battlefield.
Like what I’ve said to the soldier besides me, for some reasons that piled up together.
I became one of the defenders of a fort with a few hundred soldiers who were fighting against an enemy which covered the plains and showered thousands of arrows.
They numbered enough to block out the sun as they fell down on us.
In the middle of this battle, I reminisced the time when my memories of a previous life awoke.
###
In a certain alleyway of a certain capital city of a certain country which was embroiled in the flames of war.
I opened my eyes and wiped the sweat that was dripping from my brow.
“What was that?”
I sat up on a piece of cloth, placed on the ground and became a makeshift bed for me.
“Were those… my memories?”
I closed my eyes and recounted the things I saw in my dream.
A boy who was bullied since childhood, he was left alone at school and at home.
No matter how much he asked for help, no one came to aid him.
He reached the limits of his sanity at the age of 17 and committed suicide by jumping off the highest floor of his school.
What was even stranger was that the dream felt very real.
I’ve even gained some knowledge from that dream.
Mathematics, science, his name and even the address of his home was very clear in my mind.
The skills he had to learn so that he would survive the things his classmates did to him were very feasible to me.
I changed the gears in my head and started arranging my memories.
My name is Kaylee, in that world my name was Marck Spencer.
I’m a young girl at the age of 10 as opposed to my dream, I was a man there.
I was an orphaned and abandoned child who lived in the streets of Heidrun, the capital city of Celestines.
I grew up never knowing how it felt like to have family.
No relative and friends.
I was a lone girl who wore rags as clothes and stole food from stalls.
My life was miserable and unhealthy.
In a few years, I may die from an illness or a sweeping operation by the soldiers of Celestines.
“Thanks to that dream, I’m able to make some theories of how I will die if I stay here.”
I didn’t fear death in this world because death was a daily occurence here.
Even if I were gonna die, then it only meant I was weak and if I lived, my struggles in this hell would only continue.
I still wanted to live though, so I tried thinking up of ideas so that I could survive by using the skills, I've inherited along with the memories.
“If I try selling my skills to a merchant in this city then….”
This continued till the rays of the sun shone on the alleyway, I had slept.
“Guess there’s only one way to do this huh… I just have to go to the forest and use the skills I’ve inherited from my previous life so that I can survive.”
Confirming that conclusion, I stood up from my makeshift bed and walked to the streets in small steps.
###
The streets of Heidrun were jam packed with lots of people.
Men and women of all ages wore dress and clothes that was reminiscent of the Middle Ages.
They walked to and fro everywhere and merchants continued to showcase their wares to the public.
Carriages and coaches of various designs also moved along the streets.
The buildings were made of either pieces of wood, bricks or a mixture of both.
At most they were only 4 stories high.
The world I lived in right now was currently in the Middle Ages, if I were to compare it to the world in my dream.
For clothes, I stole some from an unsuspecting merchant ran to the back alley and wore them.
The dress had a common design and the skirt extended up to my knees, underwear was still nonexistent in this world.
So having a long skirt was quite a blessing to have.
I also took some food from a vendor, which was near the exit of the capital.
The guards were a bit lax as they eyed me who left the city.
Paying no heed to their gazes, I bit on the apple which tasted had a slight difference from my memories.
Once I’ve exited the gate, I walked to the forest with nothing but a knife that I also stole earlier.
Since these things were needed, I wasn’t that guilty in stealing things from people.
In fact, in my 10 years of life in this world, I was only able to live because I was quite adept at stealing.
“Now that were out of that place, the first thing I need is to find a water source.”
Nonchalantly trekking the forest, I strained my ears to hear the sound of flowing water.
For two hours, I’ve been looking for a river without any success.
Along the way, I picked up some sticks to use as firewood and for making weapons.
When the sun had almost sunk to in the west, the sound of water could be heard near me.
I made big strides as I headed towards my destination.
Arriving near the river, I beheld its site as it sparkled under the light of the setting sun.
The river was very clean and pure, just by being near it.
A sense of peace and tranquility welled up inside me.
Waking up from my trance, I quickly started setting up my camp and made fire.
I didn’t know how the animals of this world would react to this, but just by having a heat source, helped me obtain a sense of security and calmness.
With the campfire as a light source, I took out a piece of oak wood and tested its durability.
I started bending the bow with great caution and stopped I determined it to be the limit of its natural curve.
Carving it using the knife, I made slits on the ends of the wood and tied a portion of a twine on it.
I strung the wine using my fingers and it produced a very good sound, indicating that the work I did was quite good.
Observing the parts of the finished bow meticulously, I made a small laugh when I was finished.
I started making arrows after the bow and thought about the things I experienced in my previous life.
“Who knew, that all the things I’ve learned to survive from the bullying they’ve did to me, proved to be very useful in this place.”
Under the night sky, I stared at the stars that twinkled in the darkness.
A cold breeze blew and the sound of wood, cracking in the fire served as great background music in this lonely night.
“According to my memories, I was always alone till the moment I died. Nobody helped me nor did anyone protect me. I didn’t know what happened after I died, but I think none went to my funeral.”
The sound of rushing water soothed my nerves as I wallowed in my memories.
“I wish I’ll find friends in this lifetime.”
A tear fell down from my right eye.
I paid no heed to it as it travelled on my cheek to my chin.
“… I don’t wanna be lonely again.”
After saying those words, the emotions I’ve held back ever since my memories return to me gushed out from my heart.
My mouth became really salty and large beads of tears fell down from my eyes.
All my sadness, frustrations and despair that I endured in my past life and in this life broke the dam in my heart.
I didn’t need to cover my face, since there was no one near me, who could see my hideous crying face.
A long time passed and I cried till I fell asleep in front of the campfire.
Even though it wasn’t advisable to do this in the wilderness, because I was still near the capital, there were no ferocious beast like wolves and bears in this forest.
###
I woke up in and saw the sun rising from the east.
The morning breeze felt really good and refreshing.
I washed my face using the river’s water and ate the last remaining apple that I stole from a merchant.
Finishing my meal, I stood and stretched my body.
“I’ve finished making a ‘Survival Bow’ and I managed to make 6 wooden arrows. Next on my agenda is to decide a destination.”
I placed my hand on my chin and walked aimlessly.
After an hour of walking, I’ve finally decided to head east, where the sun rises every morning.
I remembered that there were books that told about heroes adventuring a fantasy world.
Without hesitation, I decided to be like them and travel around the world.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
Seeing different places for my eyes to see and exploring ruins of an old civilization.
While humming a tune, I once liked in my previous life, I walked towards the road and headed east.
Since last night, my shoulders felt light.
As if I was freed from a very heavy burden.
“I guess, I should be happy I was reborn in this world. Though being a girl poses some problems, I’ve been living in this body for 10 years now. It’ll work out somehow.”
In the middle of my journey, my stomach growled.
Holding my stomach with both hands, I looked around and breathed a sigh of relief when I discovered, I was alone.
“I see, so it’s noon huh… let’s find some food and rest for a while then.”
I deviated from the road and started searching for tracks on the ground.
Discovering traces of footprints made by a rabbit, I killed my presence and followed the trail.
After 5 minutes, I found a white furry animal eating with long ears, grazing on a plot of plain grass.
I readied my bow and focused on the rabbit in front of me.
When the rabbit moved slightly, I released the arrow and it flew towards the rabbit, killing it… or what should’ve happened.
Although the arrow flew in a straight line, because this was my first time shooting from my bow, the arrow deviated from my target and hit the tree next to it.
It shocked the rabbit and ran away.
“Ahh~ my food…”
Seeing my prey get away from me, I stretched my hand at it’s direction.
“Haa~, guess I’ll eat some berries for now.”
I stood up from the spot I was hiding and trudged along the forest.
Feeling a bit sad, I started collecting some berries which I deemed to be edible.
“Good thing I read a book about, how to survive in the wilderness with only a knife.”
Laughing dryly, I filled my stomach with the berries and decided to postpone my journey for now.
I decided to first train how to use this bow effectively, so that I will be able to eat meat in my travels.
“Okay, let’s start.”
I quickly started training after I was done eating.
Marking a random tree with my knife, I started shooting arrows towards it.
In the entire afternoon, I shot at the target with a success rate of 2 arrows out of 6.
Those two arrow were also quite far from the bullseye.
“Haaa~, even though I’ve been practicing all afternoon. I’m still not used to this.”
I made a sigh and stopped my practice.
It was now almost night time, so I gathered some dry twigs to use as a campfire.
Using the heat of the fire, I started making more arrows.
After I was done making 5 arrows, I placed my back on a tree and started thinking.
“Even though, I’m in a fantasy world where magic exist. I haven’t any low leveled fantasy-like monsters like in some games.”
In this world, magic exists.
Magicians also existed in this world, though they only belong to the upper class though.
One reason was that, they were the only ones who could afford to spend time learning it.
Unlike us commoners, we spent most of our time working.
“Oh yeah, the system of writing in this world is also the same as English in my old world. I think they called it Arcana here.”
With the return of my memories, I started comparing this world from my previous world as I rested near the camp.
“Now that I think about it, why is, English used to write here, whereas, the native language of this world doesn’t even resemble it.”
The way we speak was very different to what we write it.
Like for example campfire.
Using the English language, I write it as ‘Campfire’ but the way we so speak it is ‘Feremanto’.
These words were very different, even the way I write their phonetics were different, but in this world the two were one and the same.
“Haa~, this is really complex. Well, since I can speak this world’s language thanks to my 10 years of life here, I’m quite okay with it. Also, since I can now read thanks to the memories of my previous life, let’s try searching for a book and read it while I travel… yawn*”
As I was talking to myself out of habit, a yawn escaped from my mouth and my eyelids became heavy.
The night was becoming very dark and because I don’t know how far I’ve gotten away from the capital, I was a bit reluctant to sleep here.
I tried to fight against it but lost in the end.
“Though it’s dangerous, let’s sleep here… for now, my priorities are… learning how to use this bow and… to secure meat… yawn*”
###
It has been a 2 weeks since I left the capital.
Everyday, I practiced how to shoot accurately and made arrows at night.
Thankfully, the forest of this land didn’t have any ferocious animals.
My nights were quite peaceful and quiet.
For water, I only used to search for one, but when I was finally able to kill some animals using my bow.
I made a small canteen using their skin, of course I cleansed it properly with water and cured it with fire before I drank from it.
Thanks to it, my journey became easier and smoother.
“Ooh~ a wagon… let’s try hitching a ride from him.”
From the distance, I saw a wagon being pulled by a horse.
The person didn’t look like a villager; he looked more like a peddler from the clothes he wore.
I waved at the peddler with both of my hands.
“Oi! If you’re going to a village near here, can I ride with you?”
The peddler stopped in front of me and with a big smile, he accepted my request.
Now that I was closer to him, I was able to see the peddlers feature more clearly.
He looked to be in his 30s, his rugged beard and hair had a reddish tint, and his face looked to be quite rough.
“What’s your name little lady?”
“My name is, Kaylee. What about you mister, what’s your name?”
“I go by Anderson, I’m a peddler who buys and sells wares from villages.”
I was quite happy to fight a person to talk to.
Although, I was a loner in this life and in my previous life, the practices I did in front of the mirror paid off.
My ability to talk in a natural manner to Anderson proved it to be effective.
Making a victory pose in my heart, I continued my conversation with him.
“Even though were in the middle of a war, you’re quite courageous to sell your things, Anderson. Aren’t you afraid of bandits?”
“Nope, I’m not afraid of those bandits, Kaylee.”
Hearing those words, I tilted my head at Anderson’s words.
“Why?”
“It’s cause the villages I sell my wares are under, Lord Stuart Stylus von Jonas rule.”
“Lord Stuart von Jonas?”
“Yes, although you may already know from his name, Lord Stuart is the Earl who governs Jonas. Although the Earl is quite old, his ability to protect his villages and its surroundings is top-notch.”
“Hee~”
“What’s more, his son, Sir Coloniel Stylus von Jonas, inherited the traits of his father. What’s more, her daughter, Miss Mylfa Stylus von Jonas, is engaged to the crowned prince of this country.”
I clapped my hands with vigor as I listened to Anderson’s words,
Though, I don’t know why he looked very proud when he was talking about all those people.
From his words, I’ve also discovered why the forest here was safe.
“What about you, Kaylee. Why are you walking alone on this road?”
“Right now, I’m in the middle of an adventure.”
My cheeks became a bit hot as I answer him.
“Adventure?”
“Yes, I’m on an adventure to discover this world, see sites never before seen by others, and explore places which were untouched by the hands of Man.”
As Anderson hear my words, his eyes opened wide and fixed his gaze on me.
“That’s quite a dream, Kaylee. Even though you look like a 7 year old child, the ambitions you house within that small body of yours is great. I won’t stop you from achieving your dream because we’ve only just met, but do refrain from doing anything reckless, okay?”
“Yes! Also, Anderson… I’m already 10 years old, 5 years more and I’ll be a full fledged adult.”
“Is that so? Hahaha! You’re so small, that I mistook you for a 7 year old child! My bad, my bad…”
The man patted my head with his big hand and messed up my white hair.
I pouted at Anderson and mumbled words at him.
This made him laugh louder and rubbed my head more greater force.
Time moved at a slow pace as we traveled in the wagon together.
Though I was curious to what he sold, I refrained from asking and decided to do business with him once we’ve reached the village.
Even he didn’t ask what I carried and like this, we ran out of topics to talk about.
Since it was becoming boring, I swayed my dangling legs and hummed a tune I like.
I wasn’t all that confident with my voice, but because the man didn’t say that didn’t like it, I continued to hum the tune.
I didn’t stop at humming one song and continued to hum other songs which I liked in my previous life.
And in my 8th song, a village came into my view.
“It seems like we’re almost there, Kaylee.”
“Nn! Thanks for letting me ride your wagon, Anderson.”
“No problem, you’re songs are enough to pay for your travelling fee.”
“Eh~ you’re charging me for hitching a ride with you?”
Anderson made a big smile and showed his white teeth to me as he said.
“Of course, I’m a merchant and money is the only thing that can make us become generous.”
“You’re quite greedy Anderson, well, since it became free because of my songs. I’ll forgive you.”
“Hahaha!”

Spoiler :
Hey there! It's KK_Akatsuki here, bringing you a different version of Eulalia. Though in my previous post, I said that I'll only be online for a while and will resume writing after 4 months because I was fleeing to the mountains, because of certain reasons.
While I was in the mountains, I tried logging in for a while but the screen on my tablet would only stop at the 'White Screen' and even if I wait for an hour, RRL still won't finish loading.
Since it was very boring, I decided to read Eualalia's adventure and along the way, I decided to rewrite the entire thing.
The decision was made because of some things I've found while I was writing it and because I'm quite lazy at deleting stuff, I left the original version as is and won't stop updating it, but you won't know of my changes in the original. Even as I post this, none of you even knows I changed the prologue in the original. In this version, my updates will be slow (it'll be once a week if I'm lazy, well it's not regular okay). I don't exactly deserve to be on the top 50 or top something cause even I don't expect this series and the other one to be all that good though. LOL
Oh yeah, the events and characters that took place in Eulalia's Adventure will still occur but the process and stuff that occurs along the way will be different.
The people who read the previous version of this story might have already known, but the Eulalia of this version is more carefree and light hearted, for reasons like: Being in a different world excites your heart greatly and something close to changing the way you are viewed once you've entered highschool are some of the reasons for this change.
I mean, 'Hey, nobody knows me here, so I can do anything however I like.'.
Something like above, LOL.
Are there anymore things I've forgot... hmmm, oh yeah, I'm expecting that this version will catch up to the original version by the 10th chapter... LOL
BTW, right now, I'm living at a relatives house and using the laptop of this house's son. Since it's such a waste if that person uses it. I decided to hijack his laptop and use it. LOL.
Haaa~ also, I'm 2 cities away from my home. I hope I can return there soon. I'm getting homesick.
Ps. Pfft, Eu's Journey... hahahah! Haaa~ my naming sense really is bad... I wanted the title to just be 'Eu' but because it was invalid, I decided to put journey after it. It's still synonymous to Adventure, so technially the title's the same as the previous one. Pfft...
